Explaining The Bailout

22 November 2008, 10:16 pm. 1 Comment. Filed under Economy.

Once upon a time a man appeared in a village and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each. The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.

The man bought thousands at $10 and, as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He next announced that he would now buy monkeys at $20 each. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so scarce it was an effort to even find a monkey, let alone catch it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50 each! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would buy on his behalf. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers: “Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has already collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each.”

The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys for 700 billion dollars. They never saw the man or his assistant again, only lots and lots of monkeys!

Now you have a better understanding of how the WALL STREET BAILOUT PLAN WILL WORK !!!!

It doesn’t get much clearer than this…………….

Obama Girls Will Go To Sidwell Friends

Continuing a tradition among Washington’s power elite, President-elect Barack Obama and his wife have decided to send their kids to Sidwell Friends School. Michelle Obama confirmed yesterday that Malia and Sasha, the incoming first daughters, will enroll at the pricey private school when the family moves into the White House in January.

Although Mrs. Obama has said that public schools were under consideration and consulted with D.C. school officials, the decision narrowed this week after she and the girls visited Sidwell and the private Georgetown Day School. Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, visited classes and met with students while their mother talked with administration officials and parents. Mrs. Obama also visited both schools last week when she came to Washington with her husband to tour the White House and meet with President and Mrs. Bush.

Another of those cases of ‘do as I say, not as I do’? Honestly, I can’t imagine the security nightmare that would occur if they sent the kids to D.C. public school. There are a LOT of nuts out there, and the safety of these two little girls should be first and foremost!

Bush blasts ‘illegitimate’ Mugabe

“We call for an end to the Mugabe regime’s brutal repression of basic freedoms and for the formation of a legitimate government that represents the will of the people as expressed in the March 2008 elections,” Bush said in a statement released as he attended an Asia-Pacific summit in Peru.

Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change won the most votes in March’s presidential election but fell short of an outright majority.

Mugabe is a real piece of work. The guy is 84 years old, fer cryin’ out loud. Retire already! Go quietly into that ‘good night’. Sheesh! What is it with people who are obsessed with power and attention?

Group condemns North Side mascot

North Side High School’s Indians mascot and its slogan, “Welcome to the Reservation,” are up for discussion on a Native American Web site.
(…)
The slogan caught the attention of Denny McAuliffe, who is the founder of Reznetnews.org and project director with The University of Montana School of Journalism. He posted a picture of North Side’s slogan and asked Web site users to give opinions on the issue.

“I knew the reservation comment was over the top,” McAuliffe said in a telephone interview. “Calling the school grounds a reservation is going too far. The School Board needs to address the Native American mascot issue.”

Oh, fer the love of pete! I swear, some people get their knickers in a twist over some of the most innocent things! While I might agree that the ‘reservation’ might be a bit over the top, I don’t believe it was meant as an insult. As for the “Native American mascot issue”? It’s called admiration for a fighting spirit, which is what the American Indian invokes in most people. Seriously dude, get over yerself!  See a compliment where it is, and find something serious to worry about, like alcoholism and unemployment!  Education of the mind and spirit perhaps?

Final insult: Now public faces paying millions to provide Baby P’s mother with a new identity

The taxpayer faces a multimillion-pound bill to give the evil mother of Baby P a new identity when she leaves prison.

Amid the widespread public revulsion at the case, lawyers will use human rights legislation to claim that the 27-year-old’s life is at risk.

They are believed to be already drawing up a list of demands to ensure that she receives permanent ‘protection’ from the public.

It would involve a new home, name and round-the-clock police protection for the woman.

In addition, it is likely that her legal team will request a lifelong court order – banning anyone from identifying her or her whereabouts.

They have GOT to be kidding, right?  Her life is in danger?  Aw, puir baby.  And here’s a big SO WHAT!  After what she did, she should NEVER be allowed out in public, EVER!  Better yet, a nice public hanging woul do nicely.  I have NO sympathy for anyone who harms a child!

Obama: Country Facing ‘Economic Crisis of Historic Proportions’

President-elect Barack Obama on Saturday outlined his plan to create 2.5 million jobs in coming years to rebuild roads and bridges and modernize schools while developing alternative energy sources and more efficient cars.

“These aren’t just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis; these are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long,” Obama said in the weekly Democratic radio address. The economic recovery plan being developed by his staff aims to create 2.5 million jobs by January 2011, and he wants to get it through Congress quickly and sign it soon after taking office.

What is it with these people? The government is NOT in the business of creating jobs. But they sure do know how to spend those who create REAL jobs money, don’t they!  I guess we should look forward to Obamavilles cropping up all over the place, eh?  STOP TINKERING!

Abbas calls on Obama to implement Arab peace plan

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is asking US President-elect Barack Obama to implement an Arab peace plan as soon as he enters office.

Abbas spoke at an economic conference in the northern West Bank town of Nablus on Saturday.
It is the first time the Abbas has asked Obama to adopt the Arab peace plan.

The Arab Peace Initiative, based on the Saudi peace plan of February 2002, calls for a full Israeli withdrawal from all territories taken in the Six Day War, including east Jerusalem, in exchange for normalizing ties with the Arab world. In return, Arab and Muslim states will recognize Israel and have full relations.

Oh, I just bet he is calling for this ridiculous plan. If BO does, he’s going to find out real fast the Israeli people will NOT comply, nor should they!

Legal moves snarl English-only proposal

A judge could decide early next week whether to block a vote on an amendment that would force all Metro Nashville government business to be done in English.

This is the U.S. of A.! Of course business should be done in English. We speak English! Learn it!

Recount, Day 3: Coleman holds lead

Norm Coleman is hanging on to his whisker-thin lead over Al Franken. With 64 percent of the 2.9 million ballots recounted, Coleman is ahead by 120 votes.

Keep your fingers crossed! We already have enough bad clowns in the Senate, we sure don’t need another one.

Colossians 3:23-25

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
