La. voters oust indicted Rep. William Jefferson

Voters in Louisiana ousted indicted Democratic Rep. William Jefferson on Saturday, instead electing a Republican attorney who will be the first Vietnamese-American in Congress.

Unofficial results showed Anh “Joseph” Cao denying Jefferson a 10th term. Republicans made an aggressive push to take the seat from the 61-year-old incumbent, who has pleaded not guilty to charges of bribery, laundering money and misusing his congressional office.

Cao, 41, won a predominantly black and heavily Democratic district that covers most of New Orleans.

Finally….a bit of common sense!

    Common sense, or the local machine exhausted themselves with Obama.  Either way, Cao seems like a good guy.  (which is probably why the MSM won’t be celebrating him the way they celebrated the first Muslim-American in Congress)

    I don’t know if the people of New Orleans came to their senses or what, but it’s about time that a message was sent somewhere. Criminals do NOT belong in the House and Senate. And I don’t care what party they belong to, Dem, Repub, Indy, makes me NO difference. If a sitting Senator or Representative is indicted, they need to vindicate their name before being allowed to serve the public! If they can’t clear their good name and reputation, they need to be removed, poste haste, and an HONEST individual needs to be seated in their place!

    @HeatherRadish
    I watched the local news last night, expecting to hear something about his win.  Not one word.  We aren’t that far from there fer petes sake.  Nope….all they yapped about was how wonderful president-elect B. Hussein is.  GAG!

    @TexasFred
    I whole heartedly agree.  There should be NO criminals in Congress.  We wouldn’t have many so called reps if all the criminal left D.C., which, come to think of it, might not be such a bad idea.  :?
