Prayers Needed

7 December 2008, 9:08 pm. 1 Comment. Filed under Faith, Life.

My pastor’s daughter is one very sick young lady.  She was airlifted to Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis a couple of days ago, and has been in ICU since.  Her body is ravaged with infection.  The county hospital here nearly killed the girl by overloading her with fluids.  If they hadn’t sent her to Memphis, she would have drowned.

I’m asking you to add your prayers with mine and my church’s, for healing.  I expect a miracle.  Thank you.

7 December 1941

President Franklin D. Roosevelt: Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation, and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our secretary of state a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Yesterday the Japanese government also launched as attack against Malaya.

Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong.

Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam.

Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.

Last night Japanese forces attacked Wake Island.

And this morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

As commander in chief of the Army and Navy I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense. But always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us. . .

Morning Coffee – 12/07/08 LATE!

7 December 2008, 3:55 pm. Comments Off. Filed under General News.

A very small version!  My computer froze up on me this morning, and instead of battling with this contraption, I thought it prudent to head to church.  :)   Then, of course, the Mr and I went for lunch.  I’m sure life will go on without my usual morning ramblings, right?  :P

Nobel Winner Sees End to AIDS Spread Within Years

“Our job, of course, is to find complementary treatment to eradicate the infection. I think it’s not impossible to do it within a few years,” Montagnier said.

“So I hope to see in my lifetime the eradication of, not the AIDS epidemic, but at least the infection,” the 76-year-old said. “This could be achieved.”

Well, that’s a real nice thought, but until people change their behavior….ain’t gonna happen. They may find an actual cure, but that won’t stop the spread. It might even increase. “Well, they have a pill/shot, so I’m gonna nail anything that moves now!” type mentality.

McCain: Afghanistan situation will get harder

Sen. John McCain said Sunday that the situation in Afghanistan will get more difficult before it gets easier—”just like the surge in Iraq was.”

The former Republican presidential candidate visited the southern province of Helmand, where he said NATO forces are at a stalemate with insurgents. McCain said the U.S. will be paying more attention to that part of the country with an influx of troops.

We can play the ‘what if’, the ‘we shoulda’, and ‘if only’ games till we turn blue. That won’t change the fact that instead of concentrating on Afghanistan, we got involved in Iraq. Unless we totally eradicate the threat….Islamonazis….it doesn’t matter how many troops are sent anywhere, we’re still going to be fighting somewhere.  I’m not a war monger, contrary to what some might think, but unless we show we mean business, nothing will change.  I’m thinking a very large field of glass might prove our point.

Terror Victims’ Group Hopes to Block Prisoner Release in Court

The Almagor Terror Victims’ Association is hoping to block the government from implementing its decision Sunday to release 230 terrorists as a “goodwill” gesture to the Palestinian Authority. The original list included 250 terrorists, but 20 Gaza-based terrorists were removed.

The list of names of the terrorists who are to be freed were published Sunday afternoon on the website of the Israel Prison Authority.

WHY, in the name of all that’s holy, do they keep letting these animals go????? Just who is it in the Israeli government that thinks letting murderers go free is a good idea????

Verse of the Day

7 December 2008, 9:25 am. Comments Off. Filed under Faith.

1 Kings 8:57-61

57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:

58 That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.

59 And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:

60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
