GMAC loosens rules for car loans
A $5 billion government bailout aimed at reviving General Motors Corp.’s ability to make car and truck loans has dealers hopeful that cash-strapped consumers will return to their showrooms.
Gee. Isn’t that nice of ‘em? They are willing to lend us OUR money! Well, I wouldn’t count on a whole lot of folks taking them up on their offer. I haven’t trusted ‘em for a while, and I trust ‘em even less now. Besides, if I was gonna buy American (which I would prefer, if they didn’t all freakin’ look alike!), I’d buy from someone who isn’t begging me for money.
Israel rejects truce call, attacks Gaza
Overnight, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert discussed a 48-hour truce proposal floated by France with his foreign and defense ministers. The meeting ended with a decision to continue the punishing aerial campaign.
“Giving Hamas a respite just to regroup, rearm is a mistake,” Olmert spokesman Mark Regev said. “The pressure on the Hamas military machine must continue.”
I really wish someone would explain to me why the Israelis are the ones who are always called on to basically ‘surrender’, when all they are doing is trying to prevent the deaths of their own citizens. France has a history of caving in, and they seem to want everyone else to cower too? Pfft! I agree with Olmert….Hamas MUST be destroyed! And any terrorist group that pops up in their place as well!

According to reports, the woman had been shopping at the Berkeley Whole Foods and was returning to her car when a man approached her.
The man told her to give him all of her money. According to a Berkeley Police Department statement, a “physical and verbal altercation ensued.” That is when she went into her van to get the money.
When he got into her van – she said she grabbed his gun while it was still in his hand and said, “I’m gonna blow your balls off.”
Dammit woman! Ya should have done it! One less thug on the streets who wouldn’t have been able to ‘jack’ someone else!
Volunteer suicide bombers seek to attack Israel
The hard-liners started signing up volunteers after Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a religious decree Sunday saying anyone killed while defending Palestinians in Gaza against Israeli attacks would be considered a martyr.
The groups claim that more than than 10,000 people throughout Iran have registered as volunteer suicide bombers in the past three days. At a gathering Tuesday in Tehran, hard-liners were distributing registration forms to volunteers.
“How can I remain indifferent while defenseless Palestinians are being butchered,” said one volunteer, Ali Reza Takrim Namini, as he filled out the registration form.
Defenseless? Uh….I honestly believe these pigs have got to be drugged, totally clueless, or perhaps, both? No doubt, they are completely uninformed, and reality is NOT part of their lives!
Freakonomics author: No boom in murder by black teens
Freakonomics author Steven Levitt dismissed a new study that points to a sharp rise in homicides by black teens in recent years.
The study’s author, noted criminologist James Alan Fox of Northeastern University, blamed gang activity and lax gun laws as some of the main reasons.
Psst! Hey putz! It’s NOT ‘lax gun laws’ that are the problem. It’s the lack of respect for life. Stealing is against the law too, but that sure doesn’t stop thieves now, does it? How ’bout we round up all the street terrorists, shove them out on an island somewhere, and let them fend for themselves. If they kill each other, who gives a happy crap! They want to act like animals, then treat them like animals! As least no innocent children will die from their stray bullets!
Iran: Italian fashion store attacked by protesters
A branch of the Italian clothing retailer Benetton was set on fire in Iran amid angry protests against the Israeli raids in the Gaza Strip, media reports said on Wednesday.
According to the conservative Iranian daily, Jomhuri Eslami, the shop in Dowlat Street, in the north of the capital Tehran, had been attacked by protesters on Tuesday.
Benetton is said to be “linked with the Zionist network,” a government newspaper said.
I’m still at a loss as to what, exactly, is a ‘Zionist network’, and what does an Italian clothing store have to do with diddly? Oh, and it’s a bad influence on women too. Jiminy Crickets!
The Chicago Public Schools, whose superintendent, Arne Duncan, has been tapped by President-elect Barack Obama to be the next education secretary, failed to meet the Illinois state standards set under the No Child Left Behind Act for the last five years.
From 2004 to 2008, the Chicago district (District 299) failed to make “Adequate Yearly Progress” (AYP) in key areas, according to the district’s progress report on the Illinois State Board of Education Web site.
And this is who BO wants to be the head honcho of education? Gimme a break! The LIBERAL education system has been failing for decades, and they have failed our kids! If you attempt a conversation with a kid these days, you’ll be hard pressed to understand the language they speak as English. Ever read a letter by an public school educated kid? I guess grammar and spelling is no longer required, and without a calculator, even the simplest math is beyond a good chunk of ‘em. Nope. If this clown couldn’t meet standards for one district, what makes ANYONE think he could do a passable job on the whole system?
Activists urge Obama to rethink U.S. role in Mideast
Eight activists marched with signs to the edge of the property’s security perimeter, telling reporters that they want the incoming administration to take a fresh look at the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian territories, especially given the current fighting in the Gaza Strip. They also said Obama needs to take a more active role in the conflict, even though he doesn’t take office until Jan. 20.
“We feel there’s a great need for change. We need to stop giving Israel a blank check to do what it’s doing,” said Margaret Brown, a 66-year-old Honolulu resident who held a handmade sign that read “Yes we can change U.S. policy toward Israel and Palestine.”
“We just gave them a blank check to oppress the Palestinians, and this is the result,” she said.
