Israeli Troops Enter Gaza

Ground forces enter Strip for first time since Gaza op began

For the first time since the start of Operation Cast Lead, the IDF sent a large number of ground troops into the Gaza Strip on Saturday evening.

Several hours earlier, the army began to fire artillery shells into the northern part of the Strip.

According to reports, the artillery units were attacking targets in northern Gaza from where Palestinian terrorists had been firing rockets at southern Israel.

Warplanes, gunboats and artillery units blasted more than 40 Hamas targets throughout Saturday, including Hamas’s central intelligence headquarters in Sha’ati, weapons storage facilities, training centers and Hamas leaders’ homes.

In no way, shape, or form, should the Israelis back down!  I pray their mission is completely successful, and that the ‘international community’ SHUTS THE HELL UP!

States eye mileage taxes as gas use declines

Oregon is among a growing number of states exploring ways to tax drivers based on the number of miles they drive instead of how much gas they use, even going so far as to install GPS monitoring devices in 300 vehicles.

The idea first emerged nearly 10 years ago as Oregon lawmakers worried that fuel-efficient cars such as gas-electric hybrids could pose a threat to road upkeep, which is paid for largely with gasoline taxes.

Wait a minute. I thought President-elect B. Hussein Obama was gonna wave his magic wand, and all those roads would be miraculously repaired? There would be a car in every pot, and a chicken in every garage! Oh woe is me! Whatever shall we do? Well, gee, let’s suck some MORE money from the taxpayers, and see how well we can waste it!

Damn fools!

Iraqi premier visits Iran to discuss US-Iraq pact

The visit is al-Maliki’s fourth to Iran since he was elected prime minister.

Iran initially opposed the Iraq-U.S. deal, which went into effect on Thursday, fearing it would pave the way to a long-term U.S. presence on its Western border. But Tehran has softened its position on the pact in recent weeks.

Oh sure. Asking the pigs who has provided the IEDs that killed many Iraqi civilians makes a whole LOT of sense. What an ass! Bring the troops home, let them all blow themselves up. I just don’t give a flying flip anymore! Saddam’s gone, so now they can replace him with an even more murderous thug….ISLAM!

Texas jail closes after recliners found in cells

McGaughey declined to say what prompted the investigation, also being conducted by the Texas Rangers. But he said authorities found contraband in the jail. New Sheriff Paul Cunningham moved the inmates to the Wise County jail on Thursday a few hours after he was sworn in.

McGaughey said some surveillance cameras’ cords had been disconnected; recliners were in cells; some bathrooms and cells could be locked from the inside; and inmates had made partitions out of paper towels to block jailers’ views inside their cells. One alarming discovery was a type of rack made of nails, he said.

“This action was taken because there was a concern for the safety of the prisoners and the jail personnel,” McGaughey said Friday.

Screw the inmates! If they weren’t criminals, they wouldn’t be in prison, now would they? But I’d really like to know how they got a hold of that many nails. The do gooders have prison WAY to easy for the murderers and thieves, and it was never meant to be that way. It’s called punishment for a reason!

Obama team polishing economic stimulus measure

President-elect Barack Obama urged congressional leaders Saturday to move quickly on an economic recovery plan, even as some Republicans are saying they want more time to review the details.

Obama said Congress should pass an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan designed to create 3 million jobs. The Democratic president-elect hasn’t announced a final price tag on it, but aides said the cost could be as high as $775 billion.

“For too many families, this new year brings new unease and uncertainty as bills pile up, debts continue to mount and parents worry that their children won’t have the same opportunities they had,” Obama said in an address taped Friday and distributed on radio and posted on YouTube Saturday morning.

And just who created all that ‘uncertainty’? Why, the fed’rul gubmint, that’s who! Stop tinkering! And if you really want to give some money back to the taxpayers….stop taking more and more to give to businesses that obviously can’t manage their own finances. We’ve got people in D.C. who can’t balance a budget, taking money away from those who can (mostly) and giving it other who can’t balance a budget. Anyone else see a major problem here?  (There’s video, if you want to lose your corn flakes.)

Airstrike in Gaza Reportedly Kills Senior Hamas Leader

Hamas said the airstrike in Gaza killed Abu Zakaria al-Jamal, a senior leader of the armed wing of the militant group.

The Israeli army would only say it carried out a series of air attacks through the night.

Israeli warplanes and gunboats blasted more than two dozen Hamas targets Saturday, including weapons storage facilities, training centers and leaders’ homes as Israel’s offensive against Gaza’s Islamic militant rulers entered a second week.

Hmm…. Nope! Can’t muster up a bit of sympathy. May he rot in hell with the rest of his murderous cronies!

Two people lightly hurt when rocket hits Ashdod building

As Operation Cast Lead moves into its second week, Palestinians showed no signs of ending their rocket attacks against Israel, firing at least 20 projectiles on Saturday morning.

Two people were lightly wounded by shrapnel when an eight-story building in Ashdod sustained a direct hit by a Grad-type rocket. At least three other people on the scene were treated for shock.

A number of buildings were also damaged by rockets on Saturday. One rocket hit a cafeteria in a kibbutz on the Gaza periphery, another slammed into a courtyard of a house in Ashkelon, sparking a fire, a third hit a playground in the city, while a fourth damaged a building in the Ashkelon beach area. Netivot, Sderot, Gan Yavne, Kiryat Malachi, the Sha’ar Hanegev region, and the Eshkol region also reported rocket strikes.

Two things. One – Thankfully, Hamas really sucks at this type of warfare. Two – If they’d stop lobbing rockets into Israel, maybe the Israelis would stop pounding them into sand.  Personally, I don’t think they should.  They need to finish the job, and wipe out Hamas….COMPLETELY AND THOROUGHLY!

Atheists sue to get prayer, God out of inauguration

A group of atheists, led by a California man known for challenging the use of the words “under God” in recitals of the Pledge of Allegiance at public schools, filed a lawsuit this week to bar prayer and references to God at the swearing-in of President-elect Barack Obama.

Michael A. Newdow, 17 other individuals and 10 groups representing atheists sued Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, several officials in charge of inaugural festivities, the Rev. Joseph Lowery and megachurch pastor Rick Warren. They filed the complaint Tuesday in U.S. District Court.

Why doesn’t that POS get a real job, and leave the 85% of us who KNOW there is a Supreme Power alone? Doesn’t he have anything better to do? He already made an ass of himself with that phony lawsuit concerning his daughter….who, if you’ll remember, was totally embarrassed by his actions. Some father that one is. I guess he has a problem with laws of morality? Who knows what his motivation is, but I tell you one thing, if they do remove God from the inauguration, you can be damn sure we’ll be spiraling down the crapper even more than we are now.

Verse of the Day

Psalm 100

1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
