Ann On The Fawning
This Is the Downer We’ve Been Waiting For!
After NBC canceled me “for life” on Monday — until seven or eight hours later when the ban was splashed across the top of The Drudge Report, forcing a red-faced NBC to withdraw the ban — an NBC insider told The Drudge Report: “We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now,” explaining that “it’s such a downer. It’s just not the time, and it’s not what our audience wants, either.”
In point of fact, I’m not particularly critical of Obama in my new book. I’m critical of the media for behaving like a protection racket for Obama rather than the constitutionally protected guardians of our liberty that they claim to be. So I think what the NBC insider meant to say is that NBC is not interested in anyone so highly critical of NBC right now. It’s such a downer, it’s just not the time, and it’s not what their audience wants right now, either.
In fact, I think my book is the downer America has been waiting for! So herewith, I present an excerpt from the smash new book out this week, Guilty: Liberal Victims and Their Assault on America:
NOT FOR CHILDREN!
You have been warned! This video is more graphic than you can imagine, unless you have been in a war zone!
I do not want to hear JACK about Israel being the aggressor! If I hear one more newscaster spewing the venom of the pro-Palestinian pigs, with their hatred and ignorance….

Board rejects mega-schools plan… but it may take a tax increase
In after dealine news, the Hardin County Board of Education rejected a $34.8 million proposal that would have combined students from five closing elementary schools into two 800-student mega-schools.
One new school would have been built on property behind Wal-Mart. parris South Elementary would have been expanded to also handle 800 students.
Instead, board members voted 8-2 Tuesday night to go with a $38.5 million plan that will construct two new 550-student schools that can be expanded to each serve another 100 students. It also includes funding for major upgrades for the schools not slated for closure.
Hmmm….. I think my elementary school had a minimum of 800 kids, and they never called it a ‘mega-school’. Ok, here’s the problem I have….where the heck is that extra $3.8 MILLION going to come from, eh? Why, from us folk in Podunk County, of course. I hate to say it, but I don’t think this plan is very forward looking. Oddly enough, there are a LOT of folks moving to this area, mostly from the north or Florida. Not sure why, but ok. Now, if they actually WANT newcomers coming in, they might want to reconsider raising property taxes.
Firemen fight fire, freezing water
New Year’s Day dawned inauspiciously for Delta Rogers, owner of Hillside Auction on Mt. Comfort Road.
The business was reported on fire at 4:31 a.m. The approximately 4,000 square foot wood framed metal building ignited in the vicinity of the electric meter box. With the temperature at 19.5 degrees, 20 volunteer firefighters used tankers to pour some 45,000 gallons of water on the blaze before it was extinguished, said Hardin County Fire Chief Melvin Martin.
Not a real good way to start the year. Hope all is well now. (See Chris, I told ya it gets a bit nippy here, once in a while.
)
Grant will buy new firefighting gear
The Hardin County Fire Department was awarded a $155,6000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant by the U.S. Depoartment of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.
“It’s like Christmas in January,” Hardin County Fire Chief Melvin Martin said of Friday’s announcement. “That’s going to help out.”
Now, I don’t have any problems with the Fire Dept. getting new gear, but I’d really like to know why the DHS is footing the bill? Where do they get their money? Why, from folks out there in Alaska, up in Maine, down in Georgia. So, will someone explain to me why all y’all are footing the bill for equipment here in Podunk County?
City will urge Charter to listen to its customers
The Savannah City Commission is set to consider a resolution requesting Charter Communications “respond to the wishes of their customers in Savannah” when it meets tonight (Thursday) at 7.
Charter riled its customers across West Tennessee last month when it began cutting back on dual feeds of the major broadcast networks.
We don’t have cable, thankfully, so I can’t respond as a customer. But I will tell you as a FORMER customer, Charter sucks.
It’s that simple. Now, what I’d like to know….why don’t they bring in a competing cable company and see what happens. Whatcha wanna bet that Charter will offer a whole lot of concessions to the ones who actually pay the bills. Might even lower their prices? Who knows.
New Year’s baby
Caleb Charles Luong was the first baby born in 2009 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah. Caleb, the son of Chun and Ruth Luon of Savannah, arrived at 12:21 p.m. on Jan. 2. The Luong’s 5 year old son Benjamin also eagerly greeted his baby brother.
Congrats to the Luongs! Shame he didn’t show up before midnight New Year’s Eve….tax deduction, y’know.
There ya go! The front page from out little burg.

Obama: ‘Only Government’ Can Fix What Ails Us…
In giving the broad outlines of his economic stimulus program on Thursday, Sen. Barack Obama said “only government” can provide the solution to the country’s economic ills.
Doing too little or nothing will lead to worse trouble, he warned. Government is the answer:
“It is true that we cannot depend on government alone to create jobs or long-term growth, but at this particular moment, only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe,” Obama said. “Only government can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy — where a lack of spending leads to lost jobs which leads to even less spending; where an inability to lend and borrow stops growth and leads to even less credit.”

“Government is not a solution to our problem, government is the problem.” ~ Ronald Reagan
Obviously, President-elect B. Hussein Obama dididn’t learn anything from one of the greatest POTUS’ this country has ever had…..which tells me…HE is not going to even come close to be in that category.
When it comes right down to it, it was the gumbint that got us into this mess, and it is the gubmint that is making it so much worse. Wouldn’t it be nice if they just GOT THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY? Just wondering.
Question: Does anyone else find that absurd placard offensive? Actually, I find it down right insulting. There is NO such thing as “The Office of the President-Elect”, and making signs that say so doesn’t make it a reality. What a freakin’ ego!
And excuse me, but what the hell is THIS crap all about???????? We tried to warn y’all, but did you listen? Nope!

Venezuela expels Israeli ambassador
Venezuela has expelled the Israeli ambassador to protest against the country’s assault on Gaza, after the Venezuelan president described it as a “holocaust”.
The move on Tuesday came hours after 40 Palestinians were killed at a UN school where civilians had taken shelter amid the offensive.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the WHOLE truth were printed, and not just one side of the issue. I don’t suppose an unbiased eye would ever be considered in the loony world of Hugo Chavez, or his buds….the PIGS who started this mess? They are called terrorists. They have individuals ‘names’, but that’s what they are….animals who cause terror for the civilian population. In this case, it’s Hamas. They use schools as launching pads, without any thought, what so ever, for the innocent, or not so innocent.
“The Holocaust, that is what is happening right now in Gaza,” Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president, said in televised comments.
“The president of Israel at this moment should be taken to the International Criminal Court together with the president of the United States.”
Will some one PLEASE give this clown his meds? He’s in serious need of them! Naturally, it wouldn’t matter to this slime that Hamas has been bombing Israel for YEARS, and Israel has shown amazing restraint!
Venezuela’s foreign ministry said in a statement that Israel’s campaign constituted “flagrant violations of international law” and the use of “state terrorism”.
“For the reasons mentioned above, the government of Venezuela has decided to expel the ambassador of Israel and part of the personnel of the embassy of Israel,” the statement said.
Honestly, I don’t know why Israel even has an embassy in that piss ant country! It’s not like they have anything to offer the world, or Israel. Oh, yeah….they have oil. Big deal. So do a LOT of other countries. Like the U.S., for example, if only our feckless politicians would let us drill.
On Monday, Chavez, a strong critic of Israel and the US, had accused Washington of poisoning Yasser Arafat, the late former Palestinian president, to destabilise the Middle East and justify US-backed Israeli incursions.
Yeah….he’s a strong critic, alright. Why? Because we see him for what he is….evil! An evil little man, with evil intentions. How’s that socialism thing going for ya, Hugo? All your people getting enough food? Pfft! And just why would the U.S. poison that scum sucker, Arafat? He had enough people around him to do the job. They kill their own, y’know.
On Tuesday, the White House said it would support an “immediate” ceasefire in Gaza but only if it was likely to be “durable”.
Oh paleez! The only ‘durable’ thing about those animals is their hatred. They’ve never honored a cease fire in the past….why on earth would they start now?

Under the ceasefire deal, Israel would withdraw from Gaza immediately and Gaza terrorists would stop firing rockets at Israel. Israeli leaders have insisted that the deal should include a guarantee that Hamas will keep its word, and Sarkozy recently said he would do “whatever necessary” to ensure that both sides would obey the ceasefire.
The Cabinet discussed the ceasefire initiative in its Wednesday meeting, and ultimately decided to continue with the operation for the meantime. Ministers refrained from expanding the operation to include an IDF presence in city centers in major Gaza cities.
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas declined to respond to reports that Hamas had rejected the ceasefire, saying he had not yet received an official report.
I guess it’s quite apparent who is in charge of Gaza. Abbas is nothing more than a figurehead. Now, let me ask this…..if Sarkozy will do whatever, does that mean he’ll send French troops? You know, the ones with the white flags?
Israel Hit by Rockets From Lebanon, Conflict Widens
A Hezbollah minister in Lebanon’s Cabinet is denying any involvement by the militant group in the firing of rockets from Lebanon into Israel.
At least three rockets were fired, and Israel responded with a few artillery shells into Lebanon, which borders the country to the north. The exchange threatened to open a second front as Israel continues its offensive against the militant group Hamas on its southern border, in the Gaza Strip.
Two people were lightly injured, and the rockets that exploded in Israel’s north raised the specter of renewed hostilities with Hezbollah, just 2 1/2 years after Israel battled the guerrilla group to a 34-day stalemate. Hezbollah started the 2006 war as Israel was battling Palestinian militants in Gaza.
Deja vu all over again. I find it interesting that the pigs don’t take credit for their actions. I thought they were always so proud of targeting civilians too, just like Hamas.
Obama takes note of budget deficit but promises decisive action
President-elect Barack Obama took sober note Wednesday of a stunning projection by the Congressional Budget Office for a $1.2 trillion federal budget deficit this year, then warned that without decisive action, “trillion-dollar deficits will be a reality for years to come.”
He said for the first time that changes in the vastly expensive social programs that target the poor and the elderly – programs like Social Security and Medicare consume nearly half of all federal spending – would be “a central part” of his administration’s budget plans. The size and pervasive reach of those programs almost guarantees contentious debate over any change.
Well, here’s a clue Mr BO…..churches do charity a WHOLE lot better than the gubmint. So, with that in mind, how ’bout you let US do the giving to aid the poor and elderly, and YOU worry about keeping this nation safe. THAT is the job of the fed’ral gubmint.
Middle East: UN agency suspends Gaza aid after aid worker killed
The United Nations relief agency announced it was suspending its aid operations in the Gaza Strip after one of its workers was killed by Israeli fire on Thursday. The attack took place on Thursday as aid trucks travelled to the Erez crossing to pick up supplies about to be delivered during the afternoon three-hour ceasefire.
UNRWA said a Palestinian worker was killed and two others were injured in the attack when the UN aid truck came under Israeli tank fire.
“We want a cessation of violence, to stop the fighting, ” an UNRWA spokesman said.
Well now, here’s the problem with that…..the UN seems to be aiding the ones firing the rockets into Israel, and Israel isn’t taking too kindly to that. Nor should they. How ’bout y’all get Hamas out of the UN schools, hospitals, etc, and they won’t be targeted, eh? By the way, where was the UN aid when Israeli schools were hit by Hamas rockets? Hmmmm???? Yeah….that’s what I thought.
Pelosi’s Hometown Wants $2 Billion in Federal Stimulus Funds
San Francisco, home to the congressional district of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), has requested nearly $2.2 billion in federal money as part of the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Main Street Economic Recovery Plan. The plan outlines the requests of 641 individual cities and carries a total cost of $96.6 billion to U.S. taxpayers.
The funds, according to the report, would go toward public works and infrastructure projects that are supposed to be “shovel ready” – a term used to describe projects that are ready to begin but lack necessary funding.
No….NO….and HELL NO! I don’t even want little Podunk to get funds to fix anything! ENOUGH! Stand or fall on your own merits, and ability to manage. Obviously, these big cities seem to think they can suck the life out of it’s citizens, then expect the rest of us to chip in, because they don’t know that you don’t spend money you don’t have.
Panel urges impeachment of Blagojevich
“For all the reasons stated in this report and the evidence contained in the record before the committee, the special investigative committee for the Illinois House of Representatives, 95th General Assembly, finds that the totality of the evidence warrants the impeachment of the governor for cause,” the draft report concludes.
Y’know, this is the reason I have issue with Burris. I don’t know squat about the guy, but the fact that Bagobucks appointed him taints any good he may do. At least IMHO.
Indian girl blinded for not answering in class
A teacher who blinded a girl by inserting a pin into one of her eyes in central India will be charged with attempted murder, officials said on Thursday.
Police in the state of Chhattisgarh said the school teacher used a pin to prick the 6-year-old girl’s right eye after she failed to answer a question in class.
‘It is a very inhuman and brutal act,’ T.R. Koshima, a senior police officer in the central Indian state, said on Thursday.
Medical tests revealed the girl was blinded in the right eye, he added.
I am speechless. Seriously, I don’t even have a response that would be appropriate for general consumption. I TRY to keep thing pretty much on a PG level, but something like this requires much stronger language.
Macy’s will shutter 11 stores in 9 states
Department-store operator Macy’s Inc. said Thursday it will close 11 underperforming stores in nine states — affecting 960 employees — and lowered its forecast for the fourth quarter after one of the weakest holiday seasons in years.
Stores slated to close include locations in Los Angeles, West Palm Beach, Fla., Nashville, Tenn., and St. Louis, among others. Cincinnati-based Macy’s Inc. says the closures will cost about $65 million, most of which will be booked in the 2008 fourth quarter.
Clearance sales at the stores begin next week.
Well, if Monday was any indication, I’d say the one in Jackson is going to be closing. I think Jr and I were the only two people in there, and we were just walking through. Hmmm….Sales…..SHOPPING! Heh. I like Macy’s!

Verse of the Day
Amos 5:12-15
12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
