TVA ordered to pay for spill review

The Bredesen administration’s top environmental regulator this week ordered TVA to cooperate fully with the state’s review of the Kingston coal ash disaster and ash storage at other sites, and told the power utility it must cover all the state’s costs for the review.

Besides demanding that the Tennessee Valley Authority to do all in its power to contain and limit downstream damage from the Dec. 22 spill, the 14-page order by Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke sent Monday also calls for a detailed corrective action plan for cleanup within 45 days.

No where in this article did I see where TVA was told they could NOT pass along the cost to the consumer, either for the report, or the clean up. So, guess what, boys and girls! YOU, and I, are likely going to be paying for their fecklessness! Yay us.

Colorado hires amid freeze

Ritter’s rules say the freeze does not apply to health and safety positions, jobs caring for state wards or required by caseload demands, or positions that, unfilled, would disrupt an “essential state function” or present legal liabilities.

Among the health care providers and criminal investigators that were granted exemptions were less obvious matches for those criteria: two contract lobbyists, a scratch-off lottery ticket salesperson, seasonal potato inspectors and a bevy of administrative assistants.

I dunno. Is it just me, or do lobbyists not fall into the category of “essential”.

Aide stole $300 from dying woman

Convicted of stealing $300 from a dying brain cancer patient, a home health aide was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail for a theft a DuPage County judge called “despicable.”

Marilyn Recto, 22, took the money from a 56-year-old Addison woman whose husband was out making funeral arrangements and checking burial plots for her last March. When he got home, he noticed a container of collectible coins was missing and called police.

So many home health workers are just fantastic! Then, one like this comes along, and you are suspicious of all of them. A real class act that one. Well, there is a special place in hell for folks like her. I hope she enjoys it, cuz she’ll be there a REAL long time.  The fact that she was given community service….well, that just doesn’t cut it in my book.  But this is Blagoland after all.

Detainee Was Tortured, a Bush Official Confirms

The senior Pentagon official in the Bush administration’s system for prosecuting detainees said in a published interview that she had concluded that interrogators had tortured a Guantánamo detainee who has sometimes been described as “the 20th hijacker” in the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Seriously? I don’t care! We’re talking about a murderous piece of excrement here, who would slit your throat in a heart beat. The type of animal that has no problem blowing up children. So, seriously, who gives a flying flip!  And yes, I do have a serious lack of compassion for these pigs.  Your point?

Ban: Sides should abide by UN resolution

“All the member states of the United Nations have an obligation to abide by UNSC resolutions,” he said during a press conference following a meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. “[They] are binding in their nature, and I urge the Israeli leaders – as I have until now- to abide by this, to cease military operations, ensure a ceasefire, and engage in humanitarian assistance.”

“My call is [for] an immediate end to violence in Gaza, and then to the Israeli military offensive and a halt to rocket attacks by Hamas,” the secretary-general said.

You’d think that the yahoos at the UN would have noticed just how irrelevant they really are. Nope. Their ego knows no bounds.  I didn’t notice them insisting the Palies stop firing rockets into Israel for the last 8 years.  Why should Israel cave, for just defending themselves, and wanting to put a stop the constant bombardment?  Well, they shouldn’t!

Coronation Street bosses spark outrage after hiding cross for church wedding scene – to avoid offending non-Christians

The cross was bolted down, so the soap’s producers hid it behind candles and flowers for the scene, which was screened on Monday.

Rev Milnes said: ‘I can’t imagine how people would be offended. It’s a church – you expect to see a cross in there.

‘You would expect to see the Koran in a film of a mosque, a menorah in a film of a synagogue and similarly a cross when filming a Christian church.’

I’m getting extremely fed up with the PC BS.  These clowns have no problem offending Christians, worldwide.   The Brits have been taken over, and what’s so sad, they allowed it to happen.

Insurgents attack Somali presidential palace

Islamic insurgents fired mortar rounds at Somalia’s presidential palace and clashed with government forces Wednesday, leaving at least five civilians dead a day after Ethiopian troops handed over security duties.

Government soldiers retaliated after the attack on the palace and some of their mortar rounds hit the capital’s largest market, Bakara, said Farah Mumin, a salesman at the market who said he saw three civilians killed and nine others wounded.

“The scene was very horrific and everyone ran from the market, some of them leaving their shops open,” said Fadumo Sahal, another witness.

Seems pretty clear to me….left to their own devices, Somali Muslims are going to work even harder to destroy their country, and anyone who stands in their way.

Ya know, people who can steal from the disabled like that should be punished to the FULL extent of the law. That makes my blood boil…..

Oh yeah. Weren’t those folks going through enough hell without that sleeze ball making it even harder on them? There are 3 types that I just can NOT tolerate…..liars, cheaters, and thieves. This human debris should have been throw UNDER the jail….if nothing more than as a warning to anyone else who thinks this type of behavior is ok.

I once had a home care health care worker looking in on me for awhile, I had to have her removed from my care because she wouldn’t wear rubber gloves when she changed my dressings. Then about a month later I read in the local news that she was found dead in a motel room overdosed on cocine. She had committed suicide because she had contacted Aids. I went and had myself checked, and I didn’t get it, but it was a real scare! I had alot of great nurses that I came to be close to, it’s too sad that 1 or a few ruin it. Have a good one, great blog!

Dang! You were seriously lucky LL! Don’t home health care workers have to be tested for drug use, and other things….especially HIV/AIDS???? What the heck is wrong with people!
