An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

If it weren’t for my friend, Rabbi Chaim, I would never have heard about this outrage!
An armed group vandalized Caracas’ oldest synagogue, shattering religious objects and spray-painting walls in what Jewish leaders called the worst attack ever on their community in Venezuela.
Two security guards were overpowered by about 15 people who ransacked the synagogue’s sanctuary and offices late Friday, leaving graffiti such as: “We don’t want murderers,” and “Jews, get out.”
I Googled ‘attack on Synagogue in Venezuela’, and got TWO hits. That’s it! Two! Why? Why hasn’t this been on the news? What? Doesn’t the MSM believe that such an attack warrants coverage?
Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro condemned the attack and promised it would be investigated, while reiterating his government’s opposition to what he called Israel’s “criminal” government.
Investigated? I’m fairly sure there will only be a cursory ‘investigation’, if even that. I suppose that self defense is a crime in Venezuela? Well, I guess with Chavez in charge, the answer would be yes.
“We respect the Jewish people, but we ask respect for the people of Palestine and their right to life,” Maduro said in a ceremony called to welcome home two Venezuelan diplomats expelled from Israel this week.
Only the Palies have a ‘right to life’? I’m of the mind this was conducted by either strong supporters of the dictator, Hugo, or his pals, Islamonazis. Either way, it is an outrage. Any decent human being who would support such actions, should be condemned themselves.

So, Holder gets confirmed, and we get screwed…..again!
Vote record found on Michelle Malkin…as usual.
Our little “princess” wouldn’t know what to do with that critter, even if she got close enough, with no glass.
As I am apt to do, I was snooping around the internet this morning, and came across an interesting perspective of Bush 43, and how it’s now relating to B. Hussein.
So, having “come from” the standards applied above, we have some decidedly mixed feelings about George W. Bush.
He has been gone for only a few days, and already we feel a twinge of nostalgia for our 43rd president — not only because Obama is living down to our expectations and then some — but because Bush 43 may turn out to be America’s last free-market president. We have outlined in previous columns our belief that Mr. Obama intends to use his initial months in office to leverage a permanent pro-socialist Democrat majority in office.
This will be accomplished by the Stalinist Doctrine (aimed at yanking conservative talkshow hosts off the airwaves); the gerrymandering of congressional and state legislative districts in 2010; advanced voter fraud, including the misuse of laws on the books (the “auto-fraudo” law enacted in the Clinton years), plus Al Franken-like vote “counting” through the (sometimes criminal) activities of the likes of ACORN; socialist “health care” making more Americans dependent on the almighty government; and the effort to put some 20 million illegal aliens (and likely Democrat voters) on a “path to citizenship.” There may be some pushback to this in the 2010 mid-term elections, but by then it will be too late. The seeds for the future blossoming of a certified socialist dictatorship will already have been planted.
This is a fairly balanced piece, and well worth your time.
Advocates for whistleblowers have been trying for almost a decade to pass legislation to enhance protections for federal employees that they legitimately note have been eroded by adverse court decisions or agency action. Many aspects of the bill have been chewed over and agreed on in the course of numerous congressional hearings
But attaching the bill to the stimulus package under the pretext that stronger whistleblower protections will enhance fiscal accountability is disingenuous. Trying to ram through the intelligence provisions is just plain wrong.
The executive branch is constitutionally charged with protecting and controlling classified information. A legislative attempt to override the executive could very well be unconstitutional. It is, in any event, irresponsible to condone and essentially immunize an employee’s unilateral breach.
How on earth would such an amendment stimulate the economy? I don’t believe there is as much as 3% in this bill that would do diddly, as some are claiming. Even if there is 3%, or even 10%, of this bill meant to bring about an economic turn around, what about the other 90% to 97%? Tacking on things that would expose national security to the general public (read that any Dhimmi in the Capital, where by it is “leaked” to the New York Slimes), is just plain ridiculous, and extremely counter productive.
Do I think that those who expose wrong doing, at any level should have some protections? Sure. Although, I see some vindictive yahoo exposing national secrets finding such protection a bit hard to swallow.
IF lawmakers see a need for such a bill, then make it a totally separate issue. This has NOTHING to do with the economy at all. Typical politicians…..ram through dangerous amendments under the guise of something totally unrelated. ENOUGH!
President Obama was poised to tap Republican Sen. Judd Gregg as his commerce secretary, but officials cautioned Sunday the move would not deliver Democrats complete control of the Senate as they had hoped.
Leading the pack to replace the fiscal conservative was his former chief of staff and a veteran of the Reagan White House, Bonnie Newman. Officials expect New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch, a Democrat, would name her to fill the final two years of Mr. Gregg’s term. Miss Newman would not seek the seat for a full term in 2010.
What was hoped for as a 2 party system has backfired on us. Not the parties, mind you, but us…We, The People. No party should have such a strong majority that the other does not have a say in important matters. Seriously. Neither one! Especially if the ‘majority’ is irrational!
The outcome of these lawsuits could have an impact on citizens across Tennessee and the other six states where the Tennessee Valley Authority operates and depends on ratepayers to fund its operation.
And TVA could face significant claims, possibly in the tens of millions of dollars or even hundreds of millions, once all the lawsuits are filed, said Richard Nagareda, a Vanderbilt University law professor who specializes in class-action lawsuits and environmental law.
Honestly, there should be no need for lawsuits IF the TVA, or any other company has done harm through their reckless actions. And surely, the consumers shouldn’t have to pay for said actions. Any damages paid should come straight from the companies profits, NOT from the fellow consumers. Those fat bonuses the execs always seem to expect should, instead, go towards the resolution. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to work that way anymore and no one knows what the long term affects are going to be from this disaster.
The Senate Finance Committee chairman says he backs Tom Daschle’s nomination to be Health and Human Services secretary.
Daschle has been dogged by his failure to pay more than $120,000 in taxes, a recent revelation that could stall or derail his confirmation.
His prospects got a significant boost Monday as Democratic Sen. Max Baucus of Montana, the Finance chairman, said in a written statement that he had faith in Daschle’s dedication and qualifications.
Baucus is a moron. So is anyone else who supports this clown, and all those who supported Geithner. Is it any wonder no one has ANY faith in the gubmint anymore? Is it a surprise the our society has been going down the tubes? “Well, if those in seats of power can do it, get away with it, and be rewarded for it, why can’t I?”
Clearly, there are political promises in there that don’t have anything to do with the economy. Some of it looks porky,” said Peter Sepp of the National Taxpayers Association.
At the president’s behest, the House of Representatives stimulus bill includes $200 million to the Teacher Incentive Fund, which offers merit or bonus pay to good teachers.
Critics say the measure should be debated as part of the regular budget process – not slipped into a stimulus package.
It was added “at the request of the administration,” said House Education Committee Chairman George Miller (D-Calif.).
Can that so called ‘stimulus’ crap. NOW! Scrap the whole thing, and leave us the hell alone. It is NOT your money you are playing with, it is OURS! If you want to stimulate the economy, fix the freakin’ roads, build the bridges, fund the military, and stay out of everything else!
United States President Barack Obama employed representatives and experts to hold secret high-level talks with Iran and Syria months prior to his election as president, organizers of the meetings told the AFP.
Over the past few months, Obama campaign and election officials, as well as nuclear non-proliferation experts, had several “very, very high-level” contacts with Iranian leaders, according to Jeffrey Boutwell, executive director for the U.S. branch of the Pugwash group, a Nobel Prize-winning international organization of scientists. Former defense secretary William Perry, who served in Obama’s election campaign, also participated in some of the meetings, which included discussions of Iran’s nuclear program and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Though Boutwell refused to name other participants, he said they were senior figures in the Iranian and US governments.
If I ever had any respect for the man, I would have lost it, but there was nothing to lose. B. Hussein had NO business holding talks with anyone BEFORE he was sworn in as POTUS. My disgust for this man grows daily.
Thousands of people are facing a nightmare journey home after the heaviest snowfall to hit the UK in 18 years caused travel chaos and closed thousands of schools.
Further snow is expected during the evening rush hour on top of the 8ins (20cm) overnight that brought large parts of the country to a halt.
Sky News weather presenter Lucy Verasamy said: “It will get worse before it gets better.
“There is a risk of heavier snow moving into the South East later today, that will coincide with the rush hour.
Has the blowhard Boracle been to GB recently? He seems to bring COLD nasty weather wherever he goes. Just wondering.
The senator said he would not vote for the package as it stands, telling CNN he and Republican colleagues were working on an “alternative package” focusing more on payroll tax cuts and incentives for people to remain in their homes, and that Democrats must incorporate the ideas in a new stimulus package.
“Now is the time to sit down and seriously negotiate, which we haven’t (done) up to now,” McCain said.
“We need to have in our view more tax cuts and less spending. But we can negotiate,” McCain stressed.
“It hasn’t happened so far, but Republicans have got to be involved in the active negotiations.”
A key Republican demand is to refocus the stimulus package away from a spending spree on infrastructure and social safety nets, and towards attacking the root cause of the financial crisis: the US property market slump.
The whole idea of a stimulus bill should be tossed out the window, into the scrap heap! Where in the Constitution does it say that the fed’rul gubmint has the authority to spend money on useless crap? Perhaps I should read it again, because evidently, I missed something, somewhere.
Japanese whalers blasted water from a cannon at conservationists who hurled bottles of rancid butter and paint during a clash Monday in frigid Antarctic waters, officials said.
The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society also accused the whalers of throwing hunks of metal and golf balls at its members, lightly injuring two activists in the fracas. Japanese officials said only a water cannon was used.
*snicker* Now, I don’t want to see any creature hunted to extinction, but these so called activists are violent, and personally, I think they are damn lucky they didn’t get shot!
More than two weeks ago, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh told his radio listeners he hoped President Obama would fail in his attempt to advance liberal, socialist policies.
Since then, liberals — including the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and now ABC News — have taken Limbaugh’s words out of context to suggest that Limbaugh was attacking the president personally.
On Monday morning, ABC’s “Good Morning America” gave Limbaugh’s “I hope he fails” comment a racial slant by editing it in a deliberately misleading way.
Libs doing what libs do……LIE! If any of these morons would bother to actually listen, or read, the WHOLE interview with Limbaugh, they would find out for themselves that what was said was the Limbaugh hopes Obama’s POLICIES fail! So do I! So do millions of other conservatives! We don’t want the socialist policies that B. Hussein is pushing. Jeeez people, get a grip! For yahoos like Sawyer to give the whole thing a racial slant, when it was nothing of the kind, tells me a whole lot about them.
1 Corinthians 2:9-12
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
