An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

Dear Ms Thomas,

23 February 2009, 4:20 pm. 2 Comments. Filed under Economy, Health Care.

Today I received a “gift” in the mail, thanking me for my recent donations to your organization, St. Jude’s.  While I am more than happy to help children in need, I would greatly appreciate you not wasting much needed funds on sending those who donate, gifts, and then proceed to ask for another donation.

If you are very serious in asking for donation, please, for the love of all that is holy, do NOT send something so unbelievable ugly, ok?

ugly-tie

I do not wear ties, and if I did, I would NEVER wear anything so unbelievably horrid.

Due to the current economic conditions, aided and abbeted by your’s and your husband’s favorite socialist, I will not be able to send any money to help those children who are in desparate need.  However, I will be returning your gift.  I hope you will be able to sell this, and others like it, on e-bay in order to fund the treatment for those poor children.

Sincerely,

Ol’ Broad

I have a tie similar to that. They are manufactured from drawings made by those sick children. I think it’s an honor to wear mine. In fact, I’ll buy yours for $10.00. You can send that to the children. It’s a perfect tie to wear when you are ministering to children and/or about missions. And we do both. Let me know.

Yes, I understand the idea of the tie. Sorry it came across that way. I send St. Jude’s a donation quite frequently, despite Thomas’ politics. But as with a lot of organizations, I would rather see the money used for the production of the trinkets go for the purpose it was intended…..the kids! If they want to sell the ties, I have no problem. The problem is them assuming I will “buy” it if they send it to me, THAT is what bugs me. It’s like those organizations that send out the dollar bill. How much money has been thrown away? I realize it’s a marketing ploy, but I find it highly offensive. If they want a donation, then ask for it! Don’t try to guilt me into sending one by giving me a trinket. Sure fire way their request will go in a trashcan.
