Understanding the “Stimulus”
Shortly after class, an economics student approaches his economics professor and says, “I don’t understand this stimulus bill. Can you explain it to me?”
The professor replied, “I don’t have any time to explain it at my office, but if you come over to my house on Saturday and help me with my weekend project, I’ll be glad to explain it to you.” The student agreed.
At the agreed-upon time, the student showed up at the professor’s house. The professor stated that the weekend project involved his backyard pool.
They both went out back to the pool, and the professor handed the student a bucket. Demonstrating with his own bucket, the professor said, “First, go over to the deep end, and fill your bucket with as much water as you can.” The student did as he was instructed.
The professor then continued, “Follow me over to the shallow end, and then dump all the water from your bucket into it.” The student was naturally confused, but did as he was told.
The professor then explained they were going to do this many more times, and began walking back to the deep end of the pool. The confused student asked, “Excuse me, but why are we doing this?”
The professor matter-of-factly stated that he was trying to make the shallow end much deeper.
The student didn’t think the economics professor was serious, but figured that he would find out the real story soon enough. However, after the 6th trip between the shallow end and the deep end, the student began to become worried that his economics professor had gone mad. The student finally replied, “All we’re doing is wasting valuable time and effort on unproductive pursuits. Even worse, when this process is all over, everything will be at the same level it was before, so all you’ll really have accomplished is the destruction of what could have been truly productive action!”
The professor put down his bucket and replied with a smile, “Congratulations. You now understand the stimulus bill.”

Disturbing
Silence!
Public support for Fairness Doctrine drops even as anticipation of censorship rises
The Fairness Doctrine is a long-dead regulation that some people want to resurrect that once required broadcast stations using the “public airwaves” to offer a liberal opinion for every conservative opinion voiced, and vice versa. The law was seriously flawed in its pretense that there were only two sides to every issue and that fairness could somehow be achieved by forcing stations to alternate comments between a lefty and a righty. It was also a stifling rule that prevented stations from engaging in the same dynamic perspective-based journalism that drives much of the print media.
No one, and I repeat, NO ONE, who supports this kind of garbage is a supporter of the U.S. Constitution. Don’t those morons in D.C. take some sort of oath to uphold the Constitution? If they don’t, then they damn sure better get their collective hind ends back home!
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
What I see is an attempt of a few to silence their detractors. “Don’t agree with me? Well, then, I’ll shut you up with an unconstitutional regulation!” What’s behind this move to silence free speech? Conservative talk radio, of course. It’s not enough that the libtards have control of MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, NPR and HNN. No, they want to silence anyone who doesn’t drink their Kool Aid. Those who point out the infractions like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, etc. Libtard radio fails miserably, so they want EVERYONE to shut up.
But it won’t just be conservative radio shows that are silenced. It will also be Christian radio that suffers. Anyone who doesn’t believe homosexuality is wrong, or that you should be able to defend your views on the murder of babies, will have no voice.
How long will it be before the left is silenced too? Think long and hard before you answer. You might be surprised. If government is allowed to reinstate this abridgment of our 1st Amendment, and God given, right, just how long before no one is allowed to speak?
Fighting Back
Guns and the Constitution: A legislator finally ‘gets it’
New Hampshire state House Representative Daniel Itse has stirred the political pot with his bill, House Concurrent Resolution 6: “A RESOLUTION affirming States’ rights based on Jeffersonian principles”, under which New Hampshire would secede from the United States if the federal government attempts additional usurpation of power under five specific circumstances, including “Further infringements on the right to keep and bear arms including prohibitions of type or quantity of arms or ammunition…”
Read through this bill. It’s REAL interesting. It’s the sort of bill that every single state should introduce, and get passed…..ASAP! The federal government has usurped powers that were never allocated to them. All the spewing and spouting about actions Bush took that were unconstitutional? Well, that sort of action started LONG before Bush ever got into office. With this most recent Crap Sandwich II they are feeding us goes against the grain of every country loving American, left and right. Don’t you think it’s way past time we took our rights back from the thieves in D.C.?

Update: Thanks to commenter ‘teacher’, I looked up the newspaper referred, and found this on their opinion page.
Memo to lawmakers: The Civil War is over
In reality, perhaps the particular war was declared ‘over’, but the battle has never ended. Today we seem to be heading towards a second Civil War, that I fear will be just as uncivil as the previous one.

Lawmakers hope more plug in to electric hybrids
More than $2 billion will be allocated toward federal rebates for the first generation of plug-in hybrid buyers, according to the final version of the stimulus package. Now, Texas lawmakers want to join the short list of states proposing additional rebates in an effort to make the Lone Star State a leader in new-age electric transportation.
“The objective of this rebate program is to clean the air,” said state Sen. Kip Averitt, R-Waco, who has filed an omnibus clean-air and energy bill that would give a $4,000 state subsidy to plug-in hybrid buyers.
Nice idea. BUT….where does the electricity come from? How much does it cost to maintain these tin cans? What’s the cost of get it fixed? Replace the battery? I’ve had a small car, and damn near got killed with someone in a larger vehicle ran into me. I will not EVER have a small car again! Who decides that we HAVE to purchase something we don’t want? And who gave them the power to decide this was best for us? I don’t want an electric toy. If I did, it sure wouldn’t be a vehicle. By the time they get all the kinks ironed out, I’ll be dead.
Pakistan Blasted for Creating Taliban Safe Haven With Islamic Law Deal
NATO warned Tuesday that Pakistan risked creating a safe haven for Islamist extremists after it struck a deal to impose Islamic law and suspend a military offensive in the former tourist haven of Swat.
Criticism of the truce mounted as a hardline cleric dispatched by the government to convince the Taliban to stop fighting as part of the deal arrived in the Swat Valley’s main city of Mingora to a hero’s welcome.
It would have been much wiser if they helped them to stop breathing. They’ve opened up a can of worms, and will never be able to get the dirt dwellers back in.
Jordan Turns Against Israel in Hague
The head of the Jordanian legislature’s law committee, Mubarak Abu Yamin, announced that the charges against Israel’s leadership were filed because of Israel’s Operation Cast Lead military offensive in Gaza.
The three-week offensive, which ended in mid-January, was Israel’s attempt to wipe out the terrorist infrastructures that were responsible for the firing of over 10,000 rockets at Israeli homes, farms and schools over the preceding eight years.
After seeing the Palie flag flying in Jordon, “…in solidarity with our brothers…”, this isn’t surprising. Did Jordon file “charges” against the Palestinians? For breaking every ‘cease fire’ they signed? For firing rockets at innocents in Israel? Of course not! It doesn’t matter what those trash producers do, it will ALWAYS be the Juice fault.

Memphis burglars extra active in 2008; break-ins up 12.2%
Not counting cases associated with domestic violence, residential burglaries rose by 12.2 percent, from 10,560 cases in 2007 to 11,851 a year later.
“I don’t buy the notion that it’s driven by the economy,” said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Bill Gibbons. “I don’t believe a burglar is breaking into houses to put food on the table for his family.”
I can think of a lot of reasons crime has risen in Memphis, only one of them being education, or the lack there of. Shoot, when you’ve got criminals running the town, what do you expect? There’s a ‘gimme’ mentality in cities like Memphis, and it only looks like it’s going to get worse…thanks to the morons in D.C.
Any OKd budget plan faces battle at ballot box
Regardless of when a new budget deal gets passed, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger still is going to need help from California’s voters to close the state’s $42 billion budget gap, and that help may not be easy to come by.
Although the Legislature spent the weekend in nearly continuous session, trying to find the votes to pass the new fiscal plan, legislators still face the prospect of putting billions of dollars in borrowing, revenue shifts and budget revisions on the ballot in a statewide special election later this year.
“Several key components of the budget agreements need to go back to the voters because they’re revisions of ballot measures the voters originally approved,” said H.D. Palmer, a spokesman for the state Department of Finance.
I can think of one sure fire way for Kalifornia to save MILLIONS, if not BILLIONS. I’ve no doubt they’d even have volunteers to help out in the plan. Round up all those illegals, escort them to the border, open the door, and shove ‘em out! Money saved in education, health care, and welfare payments. I can even think of a couple of folks who might be the first in line to volunteer.
House Speaker Kent Williams returns to Legislature
State House Speaker Kent Williams has returned to the Legislature after missing part of last week to attend to his hospitalized mother.
Williams’ absence required the House to take the unusual step of electing a temporary speaker because his usual fill-in, Speaker Pro Tempore Lois DeBerry, has also been away recovering from an illness.
Since Williams is no longer a Republican, wouldn’t it be a good thing that he was MIA? Hope his mom is ok, but I gotta tell ya, it might be best if he stays gone, if his intent it to battle for the Dems, instead of against their policies.
Mum Of ‘Baby-Dad’ Alfie Faces Prosecution
The mother of 13-year-old “baby-father” Alfie Patten is facing prosecution for letting one of her children play truant, the court service has said.
The charge is believed to relate to Alfie and his alleged poor attendance at Willingdon Community School, near his home in Hailsham, East Sussex.
Baby-faced Alfie is due to have a DNA test to determine if he is actually the father of baby Maisie, born to 15-year-old Chantelle Steadman a week ago.
Well, this woman is a real prize. I can think of a few other charges that should be brought against her than just the kid skipping school. How about neglect? What a piece of work.
Obama to sign stimulus bill today in Denver
Capping the biggest victory of his month-old administration, Obama will sign the economic legislation Tuesday in Denver.
The setting, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, is meant to underscore the investments the new law will make in “green” energy-related jobs. It also allows Obama to get away from Washington, where the bill’s passage was a mostly partisan affair, and be among people who may benefit from the huge government intervention.
I don’t suppose the guy would use some common sense, veto this crapulus, and send it back? Of course not! The socialist WANTS to destroy the economy, which is exactly what this bill is doing, even before it’s been signed. Let’s face it. The guy is a liar. 48 hours for the public to read it? Has anyone read the whole pile of garbage?

Cuz I Can’t Sleep

Some Old, Rich, White Guy?
I didn’t write a post about President’s Day, for a very good reason. I did think about it, but just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Honestly, we’ve had very few actually GREAT presidents. A few good ones, but not many in the ‘great’ mode. FDR wasn’t great. He rates as fair to middling, with the exception of the war years. That’s World War II for you history teachers. Even Lincoln wasn’t great. He was under a great deal of stress, which would explain him aging so rapidly. It was a tough time. Again, for you history teachers, that was the War Between the States, aka Civil War, that wasn’t so civil. Or as we Southerners call it, The War of Northern Aggression. JFK? Well, odds are, he wouldn’t have won a second term. Too many scandals brewing. Even though he was a Democrat, he did do something pretty good….CUT TAXES. (hint hint)
I’m not going to go through the whole list of presidents. You can judge for yourself. Although, I will say, Ronald Reagan came close to that GREAT mark….at least during my lifetime.
When I read this post, I was a bit dismayed, and quite saddened. Go, read it for yourself. Do they not teach about the sacrifices that our Founding Fathers made, so we could live free of tyranny? Do kids not know about the cherry tree? Granted, it might not be a tale based on fact, but it’s a tale based on morals. And what kid doesn’t need lessons on morality?
I am unbelievably saddened by the state of things these days, due in great part, to the lack of moral teachings. We have lost our way, and will be unable to find our way back, unless, and until, we return to the principles our country was founded upon. Those that come from our Creator.

Education? MY Way, Or The Highway
Students are no longer being educated. They are being indoctrinated. Force fed the teacher’s view and unable to dispute them. Even though we still have a 1st Amendment, at least on paper, the rights of free speech have been usurped by those who are in ‘charge’.
Pro-marriage speech garners professor’s profane wrath
Less than a month after voters in California decided to amend their state constitution and protect traditional marriage, Jonathan Lopez — in a public speaking class — shared his beliefs on faith and marriage. David French of the Alliance Defense Fund picks up the story.
“Jonathan talked about his faith — and one of the things he talked about in context of his faith was…marriage,” says French. “He read from the dictionary definition of marriage. The professor stopped the class, called him a ‘fascist b_____d’ — [he] used the expletive — [and] told the class that anyone who wanted to could leave if they were offended….”
According to an ADF press release, when no one got up to leave, the instructor simply dismissed the class, effectively ending Lopez’s speech — which violated the student’s free-speech rights, adds the attorney, especially since other students made speeches on other subjects. Religious speech, notes French, apparently was excluded from the open-ended speech assignment.
Is this student paying this so called professor to give him an education? Odds are, yes. Is this a taxpayer funded “institute of higher learning”? Again, odds are, yes, since it is a community college.
According to the ADF attorney, the professor was not yet finished. “When [Lopez later] complained about what was an obvious act of censorship, he was threatened with expulsion by that same professor,” he says.
The speech professor is identified as John Matteson of Los Angeles Community College. ADF reports that after Proposition 8 (the marriage-related constitutional amendment) was approved on November 4, Matteson told his entire class: “If you voted yes on Proposition 8, you are a fascist b_____d.”
Ultimately Matteson refused to grade Lopez’s November 24 speech, and wrote on the evaluation: “Ask God what your grade is.”
The ignorance of so called educated people is becoming more and more apparent. If such as Matteson are allowed to continue in the education of our children, our children will be just as ignorant as he. Calling a student a “fascist bastard” tells me all I need to know about this POS.
New Twist On Old Joke
A biker is riding by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.
The reporter addressing the biker says, ‘Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life.’
The biker replies, ‘Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.’
The reporter says, ‘Well, I’ll make sure this won’t go unnoticed. I’m a journalist, you know, and tomorrow’s paper will have this story on the front page… So, what do you do for a living and what political
affiliation do you have?”
The biker replies, ‘I’m a U.S. Marine and a Republican.’
The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:
U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

The Creation of a Crisis
Things started going down hill when the Pelosis and Reids took over. Were things great before that? Well, not really, but they were a damn sight better. The economy wasn’t floundering, no one was spewing doom and gloom, right after the “hope and change” fiasco under the Greek columns. We now have a government that represents no one but the socialist minded.
There were warnings. Many warnings. But of course, they weren’t heeded. Now, businesses are failing, people are losing their homes, and what is the government doing? Why, they are creating an even bigger crisis of course. Is Barney Frank going to take responsibility for his irresponsibility? Oh hell no! The light in the loafers Democrat Congressman does what all Dhimmis, suffering from prolonged BDS, do. Why, they blame Bush of course! I’m no Bush fan. There’s a lot he got wrong, but that wasn’t one of them. At least IMHO. I’m absolutely amazed that so many believe that the POTUS had such amazing powers. He can cause levees to break, create tornadoes, and all sorts of other disasters. Of course, this current ONE can part the waters, so that’s ok, right? He’ll fix it all with just the wave of his hand and the stroke of a pen.
I don’t just blame the Dems for this current situation. If the Republicans had remembered the principles on which they were elected in the first place, perhaps we could have averted some of the coming problems. However, since they couldn’t be bothered to remember the people who sent them to D.C. to do the PEOPLE’S business, they are just as guilty as the Democrats.
Peggy Noonan states in her recent column:
Politicians keep saying, “People have to begin to understand we’re in bad shape,” and “People should realize it’s a crisis.” I think they know, Sherlock. Do you? Our political leaders are like a doctor who rushes to the scene of a terrible crash, bends over a hemorrhaging woman and says, “This is serious, lady, you can’t take it lightly.” She looks up at him: “Help me, do something, I’m bleeding out!” The doctor, to the local TV cameras: “I hope she knows she’s in trouble.”
There’s a sense that everyone’s digging in. President Obama has dug in on this stimulus bill: Pass it or see catastrophe. Republicans are dug in: Pass it and see catastrophe. The digging in is a way of showing certitude, and they’re showing certitude because they’re lost.
Yes, they are all lost! Dems and Republicans alike. Lost in a shuffle of over spending, and lack of common sense. Our politicians are no longer leaders. They are kids in the candy store, with someone else’s credit card. They’ve stolen our identity, and are running amuck.
