Do you not find this extremely disturbing? Did no one read this piece of crap? Does no one care that we are no longer free to make our own decisions?
Tennessee Representatives
I’ve only lived in this state for 2 years now, and there is still much to learn. One thing I have learned though, which is extremely disappointing, many of the representatives, from local to national, have forgotten that we have a U.S. Constitution. I’m not real sure why this has happened, not just in TN, but all over the country. When a person is elected to such a lofty office, don’t they take an oath to uphold the Constitution? Then why won’t they? Why do so many forget we are a nation with laws? Their job is to uphold those laws.
Recently, there has been a bait and switch game going on in Washington over the AIG fiasco and the bonuses. Congress should look in the mirror when they talk about “squandering money“. Honestly, I don’t give a flip about $165 million that AIG was contractually obligated to give their employees. Seriously, that’s a drop in the bucket to the TRILLIONS that Congress has tossed around of OUR money. Let’s get our eyes back on that game ball. You know the one…..it has F-R-E-E-D-O-M stamped on the side, and the weasels in D.C. have tossed it around so much, it’s becoming deflated. THAT is what we should be concerned about, not the paltry sum of $165 mil.
Now, Congress has decided that they should tax those bonuses 90%? Small example…if your boss gives you a $100 bill for a job well done, and it is in a contract that you signed, do you believe that some moron nestled in a swamp has the right to come along and take $90 of it, leaving you with a 10 dollar bill? No, I don’t believe that’s the right thing to do at all. And neither should you! Instead of removing the beam from their own eyes, our so called representatives are trying to remove the mote from other eyes.
In Tennessee, there are 3 U.S. Representatives who voted FOR the unconstitutional bill to tax those bonuses:
Rep. John Duncan (R-TN-2)
Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN-1)
Rep. Zach Wamp (R-TN-3)
One of these gentlemen has decided he wants to be the next governor of our state. Rep. Zach Wamp has been going from one end of the state to the other, hoping to be the Republican candidate in 2010. He seems to be picking up momentum. However, I’m afraid I couldn’t support a man, or woman, for governor who seems never to have read the document they were originally elected to uphold.
Now, call me crazy, but I think it would be a real good idea if anyone who even considers running for office, take a few classes on the Constitution. One requirement, READ the document! You will be tested, and if you can’t pass the test, you will NOT be eligible to throw your hat in the ring. If you pass the test, and by some chance, you win the election, you will be required to take a refresher course every six months, just in case you aren’t capable of remember the finer points of the document, like those first 10 Amendments, for example. If, perchance, you are incapable of remembering, and foolishly vote FOR something that violates said document, you will be asked, and expected, to resign. I would also make this requirement retroactive to include every single member of Congress that is presently serving, each and every Cabinet appointee, AND the President of the United States!
