Question
We were watching the local new tonight, and the infobabe started talking about the housing situation in Memphis. According to what was in the report, 20% of all home foreclosures are on rental houses. Now, I’ve never owned a house that was rented out, but it’s my understanding that if you buy a house, and rent it out, don’t you normally use the rental payments to pay the mortgage? I would think if your mortgage payment was, say $300, you’d rent the house out for $400, or $500. That way, you have a little left over for repairs if needed, or to sock away for a raining day. But you pay the mortgage payment. If push comes to shove, you might have to live in that house one of these days. Wouldn’t it make sense to keep up with the payments?
This just got my curiosity going. Anyone have any answers?

I’ll be honest here….I don’t listen to much talk radio anymore. As I’ve mentioned before, we don’t pick up a lot of radio out here in Podunk, except for a couple of local stations, one of which, is a Christian talk station. Good stuff on there, and I will listen when I’m in the car. Occasionally, I’ll listen to Rush, Beck, Hannity, and a few others on the internet, but it’s not a necessity for me to get through my day. I know how to think for myself, and I don’t need someone else to tell me what I already know. Sometimes, it’s nice to have it reaffirmed, though.
I use to have many “discussions” with a few folks on the left who had a bad habit of vilifying Rush, and come to find out, they had never even listened to his show. Ever. All they had to go on was snippets, taken totally out of context, thrown out there by the main stream media, and recently, the BO administration’s lackeys. So, I found a little glee with this column, posted in the LA Times.

Liberals who hate Rush Limbaugh — why don’t you actually listen to his show before bashing him?

If you are reading this newspaper, the likelihood is that you agree with the Obama administration’s recent attacks on conservative radio talker Rush Limbaugh. That’s the likelihood; here’s the certainty: You’ve never listened to Rush Limbaugh.
Oh no, you haven’t. Whenever I interrupt a liberal’s anti-Limbaugh rant to point out that the ranter has never actually listened to the man, he always says the same thing: “I’ve heard him!”
Ain’t That a Pip!
We’ve made the “big time“.
Another event of great interest to rightbloggers has, thankfully, come and gone: Earth Hour, a climate-change feel-good event in which big buildings dimmed their lights in 100 cities, and its rightwing twin “Human Achievement Hour,” a counter-celebration pimped by Michelle Malkin for which rightbloggers pledged to blaze their lights in protest. As is customary with these things, it also involved protests against Big Media for trying to keep rightbloggers down, including Wikipedia, which deleted the parody observance’s entry.
But that didn’t kill their buzz. “What could be more ‘Anti-Al Gore’ than a protest against Earth Hour?” said The News Factor. “I’ll Be Nuking A Pizza,” said Scarecrow for President. “I had two tv’s running, some lamps and my computer,” said Right-Wing and Right Minded. “We turned on every single light in the house, plus the numerous outdoor lights as well,” bragged An Ol’ Broad’s Rambling. “Al Gore Celebrated ‘Human Achievement Hour’ With Me!” said theblogprof. (Gore had his lights on, see? Ha ha!) “I’ll actually make sure to run every piece of electrical equipment i can during this time peroid,” said Fire Andrea Mitchell. “I’m putting the halogen shop lights in the front windows for the world to see,” said Ethereal Madness. “I got out some Christmas lights too.”
My goodness! We’re in some seriously impressive company, aren’t we.

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God.
Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having ‘ In God! We Trust ‘ on our money and having ‘ God ‘ in the Pledge of Allegiance.
I believe it ‘s time we stand up for what we believe!

Wimped Out
If you’ve come around to our little corner of the blogosphere for a while, you’ll know that we use to live in Waupun, WI. When I heard about this example of PC run amok, I just about fell off my chair.
Waupun school fears ‘fellows’ in fight song sexist
The principal at Waupun High School has had the school’s fight song rewritten because he feared its use of the word “fellow” could be construed as sexist.
Principal Jeff Finstad says most people didn’t know the lyrics to the song, so students wanted to paint them on the gymnasium wall.
That’s when he read the words, which included the line, “Fight fellows, fight, fight, fight.”
He told students he wouldn’t allow those words on the wall.
Is this clown serious????
Finstad asked junior Bridget Nickel to rewrite the words. She came up with a version that removed gender-specific terms.
Well, HE might be gender neutral, but I’m fairly sure that a good 99% of the students aren’t. Come to think of he probably is neutered. Any MAN with balls wouldn’t even considering such stupidity!
The school has dealt previously with an issue of political correctness. The school logo used to be a “W” for “Warriors” but it’s been replaced by a character that looks like a knight.
A warrior depicts strength and courage, but evidently PC has pussified EVERYTHING these days. No wonder we’re stuck with a generation of simpering wimps.

This is what ‘national socialism’ looks like
When the Nazis began their push to gain control of government in Germany prior to WWII, their agenda was commonly referred to as ‘national socialism.’ The model was clearly fascist, yet fascism as defined by the Nazis had a definite socialistic foundation.
That model was quite simple and straightforward. Government would co-own and co-manage business along with large corporations. This government-corporate liaison forms the accepted definition of fascism–a form of government characterized by a state-corporate partnership in owning and operating business, with a centralized concentration of power in the form of a head of state who is endowed with the authority to exercise ultimate oversight.
This was the nature of Adolf Hitler’s government in Germany, the one that resulted in the suppression of human rights and the wholesale slaughter of 11 million human beings.
Barack Obama has forced the CEO of General Motors to resign.
“Oh, they’ll never do that! This is the United States of American, the greatest nation on the planet!”
Oh, really? What do you think is happening right now? The swift take over of banks, of private industry, of our LIVES! You can’t say you weren’t warned that it was coming. Many people, just like me, spoke out, over and over, yet did you listen? No, of course not. “That won’t happen here! It’s time for “hope and change”!” You got your change, alright. A country my father would never recognize, and a tyranny he and his 8 brothers fought against, has now become our legacy. Way to go asshats! You wanted change? You got it! But don’t expect me to sit back and take it! I’ll fight for my grandchildren’s future, with word, and blood, if need be. Will you?

Our Economic Freedom Has Been Sacrificed
Yesterday on Face the Nation, CBS’s Bob Schieffer asked President Barack Obama:
Mr. President, you’re scheduled to announce on Monday what you plan to do with the auto industry as they’re asking for more federal money. … You’ve told them they’re gonna have to cut back, present a different business plan. Our sources tell us that as far as the White House is concerned, they’re not there yet. Do they have to do more in order to get this money?
President Obama replied: “Yes. They’re not quite there yet. … We think we can have a successful U.S. auto industry. But it’s got to be one that’s realistically designed to weather this storm … And that’s gonna mean a set of sacrifices from all parties involved.” By the end of the day we had a better idea on how involved the Obama Administration was going to be in deciding who sacrificed what, learning on Sunday night that in return for more government aid, Obama had forced General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner to resign.
This adds a new and troubling dimension to Obama’s summoning of 13 chief executives of the nation’s largest financial institutions to the White House this past Friday. Asked about that meeting on Sunday, Obama replied:
I said to those folks, let me help you – help me help you. It’s very difficult for me as president to call on the American people to make sacrifices to help shore up the financial system if there’s no sense of mutual obligation and mutual help.
Translation: play ball with my government or it’s your head. The bankers got the message. The New York Times headline read: “Bankers Pledge Cooperation With Obama.”
Such is the sorry state of free enterprise in our country: the president can summon the heads of private companies to the White House and demand fealty to his public policy agenda. The common evil in all of this is the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). Originally sold to the American people as an acutely targeted program to rid the financial sector of toxic mortgage assets, the Troubled Asset Relief Program quickly lost all coherence and eventually became a slush fund for White House political prerogatives.
It is far past time for the U.S. Congress to reign in an out of control executive branch and end the TARP program.
Now, why would Congress, run by the most power hungry weasels of our time, or of any time in our history, reign in their messiah? I have an idea….instead of forcing the heads of private industry to “resign”, how about Obama, and 90% of those jackasses on Capital Hill resign?
Another Needless Tragedy
This just breaks my heart as it raises my blood pressure.
Karl Ziebart died traveling to a place he loved – his church.
On Sunday, the 42-year-old Richfield man; his 9-year-old son, Luke; and a 12-year-old girl from another family were killed when the SUV in which they were riding was hit by a truck that slid across an icy road in Washington County, according to authorities and the man’s brother.
The girl’s name could not be confirmed late Sunday. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Ziebart’s 40-year-old wife, Denise; the Ziebarts’ two other children; and the 12-year-old girl’s 11-year-old brother suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospitals, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Amber Ziebart, 14, and her 11-year-old brother, Zechariah, underwent surgery at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and were stable, said Karl Ziebart’s brother, Bernie.
Denise Ziebart, who was at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, was not stable enough for surgery as of late Sunday, Bernie Ziebart said.
The condition of the other 11-year-old boy could not be confirmed.
Three men who were in the 1-ton flatbed truck were not injured. Their names had not been released by the Sheriff’s Department.
A horrible tragedy. I urge you to read the entire article to learn more about the victims. So, why is my blood pressure going up? Why am I just so freakin’ mad I could spit?
The truck’s driver and his two passengers – ages 30 and 31, both of Milwaukee – were detained on suspicion of being in the country illegally, according to the Sheriff’s Department. They are in custody at the Washington County Jail.
When, in the name of all that is holy, will people start enforcing the immigration laws? If the government would have gotten tough years ago, this family might still be intact.
