Lies, Damn Lies, and The Media’s Libel
Chris Update
Well, Mizzzzz Chris seems to have survived the procedure this morning, and is now ensconced on her couch, pain killers, that don’t do squat, close at hand, and laptop at the ready. Now, what she’ll do with that laptop, I’m not real sure….and THAT’S a tad scary when I think about it. 
Pointing Out The Obvious
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.
You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank..
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.
The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red .
If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
Personally, I don’t think we can afford to wait until every one of them are up for re-election. There are some, and I won’t name names, but you KNOW who they are, that need to be removed…….NOW!

Wow. This is getting to be a regular event! Once again, the paper is actually online again, on time.
The latest audit of Hardin County’s financial statements reveals 11 findings, including two deficiencies considered to be material weaknesses.

Here’s a DUH for y’all. Quite an interesting back and forth going on. One thing that stands out is that this county gubmint isn’t a whole lot different than any other, local, state, or federal. They all seem to want to spend more money than they’ve got. Now, I don’t mean to nitpick, but if us common folks need to learn to live within our means, why can’t gubmints? Just askin’.
Motorists traveling Tenn. 22 just north of the intersection of Tenn. 69-N near Milledgeville should be prepared for possible traffic delays.
The bridge over the north fork of White Oak Creek is undergoing concrete repairs, getting new guard rails and undergoing “seismic modifications” designed to make it more likely to withstand an earthquake, said Scotty Plunk of the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Ah ha! That’s why those lights were there. We were wondering.
Career Fair offers advice for employment
Hardin County High School students have a chance Tuesday to learn a bit about local career opportunities.
Sponsored by Team Hardin County and the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, the HCHS Career Fair helps motivate students to think about what type of work they want to do after graduation, said chamber Executive Director Beth Pippin.
“The junior and senior classes get to meet with our area businesses, and our area businesses get to say, ‘Here’s what you need to know to work for me,’” she said. “Students need to look at college and they need to look at the technical center.”
Not that anyone asked me, but I’d suggest taking some sort of test to find out what you are really good at doing, then find a tech school. These days, colleges are bastions of liberal indoctrination, and honestly, I don’t think after 4 years of paying an exorbitant amount of money, kids come out any smarter. 
Sisters’ crash leaves one dead
A 28-year-old Adamsville woman was killed Monday when two four-wheelers collided on a public road in Henderson County, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said.
According to the fatality report, Anita L. Wood was a passenger on a 2006 Honda all-terrain vehicle driven by Toby L. Vowell, 35, of Lexington. Both were thrown from the vehicle, killing Wood and injuring Vowell.

Foreclosures: Good news, bad news
The Tennessee Housing Development Agency has some good news and some bad news regarding the number of property foreclosures in Hardin County.
The bad news is that foreclosure filings in the county in 2008 were up by 51 percent compared to 2007, and 65 percent over 2006.
The good news–if it can be called that–is that the increase in foreclosures is not as severe in Hardin County as in much of the state and significantly less than the state average.
Well, that doesn’t really brighten the scenario, but I suppose it could be worse. Perhaps there weren’t as many folks who bought houses they couldn’t afford in the country? Maybe?
Homeowners threatened with default or foreclosure can receive free assistance dealing with their mortgage servicers by contacting certified counselors approved by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency.
THDA’s certified foreclosure intervention counselors have a strong knowledge in the area of mortgage default and/or foreclosure intervention counseling, specifically relating to current industry practices of loss mitigation to include loan repayment, forbearance, modification, refinance, loan assumption, short sale, deed-in-lieu, community referrals, and other remedies available to the homeowner to avoid foreclosure.
Be wary of foreclosure scam artists who promise assistance for a fee. THDA certified counseling agencies available to Hardin County residents are Affordable Housing CDC, Jackson, 731-422-1366; Financial Counselors of America, Memphis, toll-free, 877-450-4404; and Jackson Housing Authority, Jackson, 731-422-1671, ext. 142.

Considering the mess so many folks are in, it appalls me that there are way too many who will prey on the vulnerable, and play on their fears.

If you’re in the neighborhood, are looking for something to do, and don’t mind supporting a worthy cause (the Hardin County Cancer Association)…the local version of Hee Haw will be next weekend, March 20-21, at the Hardin County High School. We went last year, and it was quite entertaining. Somewhat silly, but some really good talent.

Senators slam plan for wounded vets to use private insurance
Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance.
What? WHAT????????????? How dare that lily livered POS even consider such a thing! How DARE he!
No official proposal to create such a program has been announced publicly, but veterans groups wrote a pre-emptive letter last week to President Obama voicing their opposition to the idea after hearing the plan was under consideration.
Every single American should let B. HUSSEIN Obama hear loud and clear that even considering such a slap in the face of our military men and women is a slap in the face of every single one of us! There aren’t enough four lettered words to express my disgust at the audactity….the…

Madoff Pleads Guilty to 11 Counts; Bail Revoked
A Manhattan judge revoked Bernard Madoff’s bail sending him to jail after the Ponzi schemist pleaded guilty to 11 criminal counts Thursday morning.
The disgraced financier faces a sentence of up to 150 years in jail.
During the hearing, the 70-year-old apologized for the many years he operated the $50 billion Ponzi scheme, saying he was “deeply sorry and ashamed for my crimes,” according to reports. He continued to say he is aware he hurt people and that the representations he made to his customers to trade securities were false.
“I concealed fraud by filing false financial reports and statements with the SEC. I knew they were false and would be sent to clients,” Madoff said in a lower Manhattan Court.
“When in 2006 I registered with the SEC, I followed a form. I falsely certified that Madoff had custody of clients’ securities. I did it from the 17th floor,” he declared.
His sentencing is scheduled for June 16.
I’m thinking that a firing squad would be a whole lot more appropriate, but that’s just me.
Why I Voted Democrat
I got this in an email this morning from a friend on the Left Coast. I’ve know her for more than 40 years, and believe me when I tell ya, the fact she sent it was quite surprising. Reckon there is hope after all!
I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my horse.
I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.
I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
I voted Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
I voted Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing because they now think we’re good people.
I voted Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.
I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius.
I voted Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.
I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite The Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.
I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass that it is unlikely that I’ll ever have another point of view.

The Obama Team has Blown It
So says David Resler of Nomura Securities, along with the majority of the 49 economists polled by the Wall Street Journal.
President Obama and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner received failing grades for their efforts to revive the economy from participants in the latest Wall Street Journal forecasting survey.
Their assessment stands in stark contrast with Obama’s popularity with the public, with a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC poll giving him a 60 percent approval rating. But a majority of the 49 economists polled is dissatisfied with the administration’s economic policies.
On average, they gave the president a mark of 59 out of 100, and although there was a broad range of marks, 42 percent of respondents graded Obama below 60. Geithner fared even worse, with an average grade of 51. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke scored better, with an average 71.
Read the full report here. Frankly, they’re just reporting what most of us have been saying. When it comes to the new adminstration’s handling of the economy, it has been an epic failure.

Barnes and Noble: Obama-Monkey Display Was a ‘Hate Crime’
Barnes and Noble says a customer placed the book in the display at its Coral Gables, Florida location, then snapped the photo. The company says its associates removed the book as soon as it was noticed, insisting claims that Barnes and Noble had intentionally positioned the book within the display are completely false.
“This malicious and despicable act is nothing short of a hate crime, which should be punishable under federal statutes,” Leonard Riggio, founder and chairman of Barnes and Noble, said in a statement.
A “hate crime”. Right. Some yahoo rearranged some books, and it’s a freakin’ hate crime. You people have GOT to be kidding. And, for the love of pete….GROW UP! It wasn’t a ‘hate crime’ when some dumb bimbo on Airhead America called for the assassination of Bush. No, that was free speech. It wasn’t a ‘hate crime’ when a POS moonbat director made a movie called Death of a President. And of course, this picture was just an expression of 1st Amendment rights.
But moving a book is different, right? Why? Well, because it’s……..The ONE!
Why We Love Old People
A farmer stopped by the local mechanic shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn’t do it while he waited, so since he didn’t live far, he would just walk home.
On the way home, he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem: how to carry his entire purchases home. While he was scratching his head, he was approached by a little old lady who told him that she was lost. She asked, “Can you tell me how to get to Mockingbird Lane?”
The farmer said, “Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to Mockingbird Lane. I would walk you there but I can’t carry this lot.”
The old lady suggested. “Why don’t you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?”
“Why thank you very much.” he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home. On the way he said, “Let’s take my short cut and go down this alley. We’ll be there in no time.”
The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, “I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won’t hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt and have your way with me?”
The farmer said, “Holy smokes, lady! I’m carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against a wall and do that?”
The old lady replied, “Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket and I’ll hold the chickens.”
