Obama – The narcissist?

8 March 2009, 1:59 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under Politics, The ONE.

The hell you say!  According to this article written by Sam Vaknin, Ph.D. , that may just be true!  Really!

Seriously, the article is fascinating, and I will highlight just a few passages here.

Obama displays the following behaviors, which are among the hallmarks of pathological narcissism:

* Subtly misrepresents facts and expediently and opportunistically shifts positions, views, opinions, and “ideals” (e.g., about campaign finance, re-districting). These flip-flops do not cause him overt distress and are ego-syntonic (he feels justified in acting this way). Alternatively, reuses to commit to a standpoint and, in the process, evidences a lack of empathy.

Ignores data that conflict with his fantasy world, or with his inflated and grandiose self-image. This has to do with magical thinking. Obama already sees himself as president because he is firmly convinced that his dreams, thoughts, and wishes affect reality. Additionally, he denies the gap between his fantasies and his modest or limited real-life achievements (for instance, in 12 years of academic career, he hasn’t published a single scholarly paper or book).

- Feels that he is above the law, incl. and especially his own laws.

- Talks about himself in the 3rd person singluar or uses the regal “we” and craves to be the exclsuive center of attention, even adulation

- Have a messianic-cosmic vision of himself and his life and his “mission”.

- Sets ever more complex rules in a convoluted world of grandiose fantasies with its own language (jargon)

- Displays false modesty and unctuous “folksiness” but unable to sustain these behaviors (the persona, or mask) for long. It slips and the true Obama is revealed: haughty, aloof, distant, and disdainful of simple folk and their lives.

Hmmm – sounds about right to me.  On body language, the doctor says the following:

Narcissists are polite only in the presence of a potential Supply Source. But they are unable to sustain even perfunctory civility and fast deteriorate to barbs and thinly-veiled hostility, to verbal or other violent displays of abuse, rage attacks, or cold detachment.

I seem to recall Obama getting a bit hostile with the press.  Of course, I’m wholly unqualified to make a diagnosis, but if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck…just sayin’

Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself

8 March 2009, 8:09 am. 6 Comments. Filed under Blog Stuff.

When I started reading blogs a few years back, this was one of the first of my daily reads.  I loved Kate’s message, and her “unique” way of delivering it.  I remember thinking that I would love to meet this lady.  Fast forward  a couple of years, and I am proud to be able to call her a friend.

When Kate asked me to start posting over here, my first two emotions were shock & awe.  Shock that she was stepping back (although she seems to be having a bit of difficulty doing that…heh) and awe that she would ask me to step in.  Although some of you may have seen some of my stuff over at Silent E’s place, I’m still pretty new to this.

I want to assure you that I am NOT going to try to take Ol’ Broad’s place – that is something no one can do.  That’s not what she wants me to do.  What I AM going to do is just be myself and hope that I don’t send this blog into obscurity.  As she mentioned, I do have a full time job and a family, so I won’t be posting as much as Kate did.  But rest assured, I DO have very strong opinions, and I will not hesitate to voice them.

Thanks Kate for giving me a chance to voice them here!!  And ya’ll, please be nice…at least in the beginning!

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Obama Ponders Outreach to Elements of the Taliban

President Obama declared in an interview that the United States was not winning the war in Afghanistan and opened the door to a reconciliation process in which the American military would reach out to moderate elements of the Taliban, much as it did with Sunni militias in Iraq.

Mr. Obama pointed to the success in peeling Iraqi insurgents away from more hard-core elements of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, a strategy that many credit as much as the increase of American forces with turning the war around in the last two years. “There may be some comparable opportunities in Afghanistan and in the Pakistani region,” he said, while cautioning that solutions in Afghanistan will be complicated.

This would be the same Taliban that was given full warning if they did not turn over those responsible for the worst attack on U.S. soil, they would be sent to hell in a fireball?

2 Corinthians 11:13-20

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

16 I say again, let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.

17 That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.

18 Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.

19 For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.

20 For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.

The War

6 March 2009, 12:19 pm. 24 Comments. Filed under Blog Stuff, video.

There has been a war going on for a very long time….millennium as a matter of fact. In today’s world, the war is still being waged, on many different fronts, but the objective is still the same. We are battling for our very soul, as people, as a nation, the entire world. Evil comes in many different forms, and right now, we are seeing an ugliness, that may have been apparent in earlier times, but never in my lifetime.  I’ve been feeling like I’m being dragged down into the cesspool, and I don’t much like the feeling.

I started this blog nearly four years ago because I had something to say. It turns out, I had a LOT of somethings to say.  Since that time, there have been ups and downs, good and bad. There have been some folks who have traveled to far places with us, and battled those butt ugly birds with me. Y’all have visited with my family (and friends), and prayed when I had health issues. For each and every one of you, I am grateful.

I have made some good friends (obviously, there are MANY more), made an enemy or two….or five, been called some rather amusing, and not so amusing names.

Recently, I have been doing some serious soul searching, and while I will never give up my battle, my ‘front’ is moving in a different direction. My priorities are still the same, they are just in a different order.

What am I getting to? Well, I’m going to be stepping away from my keyboard.  Not completely, but I won’t be posting as much as has become my norm.  I’ve asked a young lady to pop in now and then to post her rants. Yes….I said young. At this point in time, anyone who is at least five years younger than me is “young”. :P Is she going to take me up on my plea? I think so. She’s still contemplating, but things are lookin’ good.  Don’t scare her off.  She’s got the MOM gene, and she knows how to use it!  She also works for a living…..at least so far…..so odds are, there won’t be the ton of daily posts from her end.

I’m sure, if you are a frequent visitor, you’ll have noticed a few differences, and now you know why.  I will be stepping in now and then, probably at least once a day….for a while. You can’t get rid of me that easy y’know.  I still have something to say, just won’t be saying it very often.  Oh, and I’ll also be frequenting lots of the same sites I always have, and tossing in my two cents.

Matthew 19:26

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Free Speech For Thee, But Not For Me

6 March 2009, 11:58 am. 1 Comment. Filed under 1st Amendment, Feckless Weasels.

Speaker Pelosi Backs Senate Amendment to Regulate Talk Radio

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told CNSNews.com on Thursday that she supports an amendment to a Senate bill that would force the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to “take actions to encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership and to ensure that broadcast station licenses are used in the public interest.”

Ok, let’s take the obvious violation of the 1st Amendment out of the equation here for a minute. The most listened to stations are of the conservative bent. What do these talkers discuss? Why, they point out all the absurdity of the left, of course. And who is on the left? We have the Queen P, herself….ol’ Pelosi from moonbatland. So, of course she is going to support anything that will shut up people who criticize her, and her cronies.

What is this promotion of ‘diversity’? According to Durbin: “When we talk about diversity in media ownership, it relates primarily to gender, race and other characteristics of that nature.”

Uh huh. Got it. How ’bout this instead….how about we let people who have the means, and the willpower, run their stations in the manner they wish, regardless of gender, race and those “other characteristics”, which, no doubt means either conservative or liberal. Hey…what a novel concept!

Now, back to that pesky 1st Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Hmmm….let’s see. “Freedom of speech”. Ok, now I’m no Constitutional expert, by any stretch of the imagination, but I take that itty bitty phrase to mean just what it says. Free to speak your mind, which many talk radio hosts do….on a regular basis. Some, a whole lot better than others.

Then we have “the right of the people peaceably to assemble”. I don’t know about you, but when I’m with the Mr, gathered around the radio, we are mostly peaceable…with the occasional “You have GOT to be kidding”, and “Holy crap!” thrown in. We don’t typically start a riot or anything while riding in the car, or sitting in the living room.

Ok, how about that “petition the government for a redress of grievances”? Isn’t that what many of the conservative talkers doing? Addressing grievances of a large number of the citizens?

So, you see Mizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Pelosi, and Massa Durbin….your actions are a violation of the U.S. Constitution. IMHO.

Execute Rush Limbaugh for treason?

Radio talker Stephanie Miller, outraged that Rush Limbaugh wants Barack Obama’s policies to fail, has called for the nation’s top talk host to be charged with treason and executed.

She made the call, not on her rather obscure radio program but on CNN’s “Larry King Live” show Tuesday.

King seemed unfazed by the suggestion, neither following it up with a challenge or a question.

“To me that seems treasonous,” Miller said. “If I could say something tonight that gets me that kind of attention, like maybe Rush Limbaugh should be executed for treason. How about that?”

Who?  Who the heck is Stephanie Miller? This is getting ridiculous!  Does anyone remember the nonstop calls for Bush to be killed, for no other reason than he wasn’t a Dhimmicrat?  I don’t remember anyone on the left yelling treason, and few on the right mentioned those calling for his death, and actually working for his failure, to be charged and executed.  But this mindless Obama drooler has decided the 1st Amendment only applies to HER side.  WRONG, bimbo!  I want B. Hussein’s policies to fail too….you want me charged with treason and executed?  I’m afraid there would be a REAL long line.

James 1:12-15

12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Front Page News From Podunk

Yes indeedy, boys and girls, it’s that time again!  And wonder of wonders…..they’ve got the links up this week! :)

Hau! Snow! Nieve!

snowgirl

Nine-year-old Katie Rowe took snowman building to a higher lever and created a Hawaiian snow woman and Mexican snow man at her Carrington Street home in Savannah. Kids throughout the county were thrilled by the surprise weekend storm that dropped 3-5-inches of the fluffy stuff. Parents were thrilled that it wasn’t the 12-13-inches that blanketed some counties and brought traffic to a standstill.

Although the weather contributed to some cars in ditches, Hardin County Emergency Management Agency Director Melvin Martin reported there were no snow-related injuries.

Since almost everything was canceled in the area, and it is kind of hilly, most folks I know stayed home on Sunday.  Smart move, IMHO.

Arrests net crystal meth, crack cocaine

Anti-drug operations by The Hardin County Sheriff’s Department and 24th Judicial District Drug Task Force during the last week of February netted nearly a quarter pound of crystal meth and crack cocaine, along with some marijuana and hydrocodone pills, authorities said.

I guess I was rather naive to think that moving out in the middle of nowhere would be an escape from such extreme stupidity.  Evidently, the backwoods and such are a good place for destructive types to make, and peddle their garbage.

Pickwick Road will show Old Glory courtesy of Raise the Flag

On patriotic occasions, Savannah could soon be displaying more red, white and blue.

Members of the Savannah City Commission are set to consider a resolution tonight (Thursday) at 7 accepting the donation of 50 U.S. flags and mounting brackets from the Raise the Flag organization. “It’s the same organization that does the flags on the levee at the dam” in Pickwick, said Savannah City Manager Garry Welch.

Raise the Flag is asking the city to “maintain the flags by putting them up and taking them down at the appropriate time,” he said.

The group, he said, is offering to annually replace the flags, which are to be flown from utility poles on Pickwick Road. Tennessee Valley Electric Cooperative has agreed to help with the project. Commissioners will consider applying to the Tennessee Housing Development Agency for $500,000 in housing rehabilitation funds to benefit qualifying low-income residents.

Now while I think having flags up around town on specific days is an excellent idea, and would be happy to contribute (if we have a buck or two left after this last few months), if asked, I’d really like to know what the flags have to do with a grant for housing rehabilitation?

‘Unlucky’ man survives another accident

Jerry Sweat just might be one of the unluckiest men around.

Then again, he’s still alive after suffering a series of unfortunate events.

Only last month, Sweat was aboard a Hardin County Emergency Medical Services ambulance when it crashed into a tree in Lawrence County.

Sweat said he broke his neck and fractured his tail bone when the patient gurney he was on slammed forward and EMT Chad Bain fell on him.

“I jerked that IV out of my arm and I got out of that thing naked,” he declared. Why was he on the ambulance in the first place?

Y’know, this poor guy has been through quite a bit over the last few years. It’s a bloomin’ wonder he has survived! I’d have to say he’s fairly lucky. I’d also suggest, that in the future, he separate any trash he’s going to burn….leaving out any aerosol cans. :?

Crump city officials taking ’net lumps
Mayor vows to find anonymous bloggers

Politics, even on the local level, can be a rough experience.

Crump Mayor Phyllis James and Alderman Judy Hollin, who also serves as the vice mayor, are learning that first-hand lately.

The atmosphere at Crump City Hall is tense following the resignation of former Crump chief of police Tracey Grisham in December, subsequent layoffs and a significant overall cutback in city employee benefits.

Citing inadequate bookkeeping, the vice mayor has taken to spending numerous hours at City Hall, working to revamp the records process.

In turn, Hollin has been accused in the community of trying to undermine longtime City Recorder Pam Hardy, who was stripped of her title of city administrator.

Yeah, even if you aren’t getting paid, playing politics can be quite ugly. Now, while I admire the woman putting in so much of her time, on her own dime, I might add, I have to ask….who was keeping the books? Not being a long time resident of the area, I’m not familiar with a lot of the goings on, but even I know that you need reliable folks to keep the books, whether it’s a small business, or a town government.

Now, on a different note….those anonymous bloggers, like what they say or not, still have 1st Amendment rights. Seriously, I didn’t know there were any other bloggers in the area, and I’m certainly not really anonymous, so I KNOW she’s not talking about lil’ ol me.  The only thing I’ve ever said was that we needed a dispatcher, and I was sorry to see Chief Tracy gone.  Nice guy.

Grant will buy gear for firefighters

The city of Crump Fire Department has been awarded a $54,877 grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“In a year that has already had its share of severe weather, we have also seen that local emergency responders are once again prepared to step forward and protect their communities,” said FEMA Regional Administrator Phil May. “As we head deeper into the severe weather season, first responders will be better equipped and trained to handle any situation put before them.”

According to the city, the funds will go to purchase 10 complete sets of turnout gear for firefighters, four radios with vehicle chargers, six new pagers, six new self-contained breathing apparatus units and pay for training five volunteers.

This is a good thing. Lots of trees, lots of underbrush, lots of backwoods areas. And the occasional, thankfully, devastating tornado. You never know when there is going to be a need for these heroes, and they should be equipped well.  See, this is the kind of stuff is just fine with me.  Tax money put to real good use.  Studying pig farts?  I don’t bloody well think so!

Local vendors can get info for school bidding

Inman Construction Corp., the general contractor for the Hardin County school construction and renovation program, is holding a pre-bid open house Tuesday.

“We want local vendors, construction people, to come to this meeting to be sure that they have everything in order to be able to bid” for the job, said Hardin County Director of Schools John Thomas.

The county board of education, he said, “wants as much of this money as possible spent in Hardin County with our local vendors.”

Local companies should get first priority, but I still have major issues with them shutting down neighborhood schools against the wish of the parents and community. It just doesn’t make any sense!

There you have it.  News from our little corner of the world.  And oh yeah…..don’t forget to set your clock foward this Sunday….well, Saturday BEFORE you go to bed.  Wanna be on time for church, don’t ya?  Spring forward, don’cha know!  I am SO ready!
