Assuring Weakness
Cutting the Defense Budget and Calling it Acquisition Reform
Last week President Obama took another opportunity to discuss his budget plans with the American people. As part of selling his $3.2 billion dollar budget, he has set his sights on defense acquisition reform and the time-honored tradition of promising greater cost savings by rooting out the fraud, waste, and abuse within the system.
While reforming the acquisition system is a noble task, buried within the President’s language is the subtle message that he sees acquisition reform not just as an effort towards reforming the acquisition process, but also as a way to cut weapons systems his administration deems to be either unnecessary or unaffordable. In his remarks, he targeted programs that don’t provide “our troops with the kinds of tools that they need to succeed on their missions.” The misplaced yet growing conventional wisdom around Washington is that because the future of conflict will mirror our present irregular engagements, there is less of a need to invest in expensive conventional military platforms that the military will likely not “need to succeed on their missions.”
What we need, Mr. Obama, are bigger and better weapons to insure our nation’s security! I realize the reason you got elected was because you promised so much ‘hope’ and ‘change’. You dropped the hope part, which for obvious reasons, are really not part of your administration. In 2 short months, you’ve managed to destroy any hope of a better future for our children, and our children’s children.
Now, you want to make sure they are not safe in your New World, as well? I’m no military expert, but I do know, “you don’t bring a knife to a gun fight”. Yes, I can hear the moonbats now…..”but why have a fight at all?” Well, I’ll tell you why! Because there are people out there, that want you dead. They don’t care if you ‘love’ them or not! They don’t give a damn if you have warm fuzzies…..they don’t!
The reason we didn’t actually have a physical war with the USSR was because of mutually assured destruction. Neither nation would have survived. The WAR ON TERROR is not like the Cold War. These are not sensible rational people. They are animals who wouldn’t hesitate to slit your throat, blow up an elementary school filled with children, or set off biological weapons that would insure the most deaths possible.
I too, would like to believe the best of people. I just can’t when it comes to those who will do their best to destroy us, from the outside and the inside. Without a strong military, we have NO hope. But, perhaps you are right. We don’t need new technology to keep our children safe. You’ve pretty much assured their slavery to extremists (both in, and out of Congress) already.

Yep, we’ve got “Slick Willie, Part Deux”.
These people HATE the military.
And not a one of them ever stops to think about the ramifications. If it wasn’t for the sacrifices of our men and women in the military, NONE of them would be sitting in office right now!
our defense spending is going lower than pre wwii, we are in trouble.
Oh, we are definitely in trouble.
