Judges Gone Weird
Woman gets 30 days in jail for texting in court
A Utah mother of four small children has been jailed on a judge’s order to serve 30 days behind bars for allegedly sending a text message while she was watching a court proceeding.
The report comes from her father-in-law, Dennis Jackson, who told WND of the series of events that left his daughter-in-law, Susan Henwood, imprisoned.
A spokeswoman in the clerk’s office for Judge Stephen L. Henriod of Utah’s Third District Court confirmed the woman was jailed for the 30 days on the judge’s order over the issue of texting.
Texting? Was she behind the wheel of a car, driving? No. That would just be a fine in some states.
Susan Henwood allegedly sent a text message, an action that didn’t affect the hearing, its participants, or the judge, but later was reported to him by a member of the court staff, according to Jackson.
She was summoned to court where Henriod ordered her immediately to jail for 30 days, responding to a request for bail with the condition that it would be allowed only if her husband paid a $70,000 judgment stemming from the civil dispute, Jackson reported.
To be perfectly honest, this sounds more like the judge is holding Mrs Henwood hostage.
Jackson reported there were no notices or warnings posted, a statement contradicted by the clerk’s office spokeswoman, who told WND that visitors to court were told of the judge’s ban on text messages. However, when asked how the warning was delivered, by sign or verbal statement, she said, “I have no idea.”
Well now, it’s quite possible there were no signs put up, at the time, and it’s also possible that no one made the announcement before the proceedings started.
He [Jackson] pointed out that the judge has made similar rulings in the past, once telling a woman in court for having too many dogs after having been cited earlier for the same thing: “She should have taken a gun and shot the other five before she came back to court, if she didn’t have any other options. … She’s going to jail today.”
Is this judge on some sort of medication? He must have missed a dose. Evidently, the man has never had pets.
Conversely, in another case, Henriod gave a former teacher probation for having sex nearly 50 times with a 16-year-old boy.
“What is of primary importance to me is that [the boy] is doing well,” the judge ruled.
Probation? For a sex predator? But jail time for having too many dogs? A text message! Does anyone else see a problem here?
With a good numbers of judges, playing god from the bench, is it any wonder the very moral fabric of our nation has become so skewed? This clown needs to be removed from the bench!

Illegal Immigrant Child Molester Awarded $4 Million
Are you FREAKING kidding me? Tell me your head won’t split open when you read this…
Lawmakers in one of California’s largest counties have secretly approved awarding an illegal immigrant child molester more than $4 million because he was beaten by fellow inmates while in custody.
The Orange County Board of Supervisors made the decision in a closed-door session, according to an local newspaper that made the settlement public this week. The lawsuit had been filed by an illegal immigrant from Mexico who was jailed after molesting a 6-year-old girl at a park.
The illegal alien, 24-year-old Fernando Ramirez, eventually pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of battery. While incarcerated at the county’s central jail, Ramirez was severely beaten by other inmates and his attorney says deputies in charge were elsewhere during the attack.
Ramirez suffered brain damage and is unable to walk unassisted, according to his attorney, who says his client has also been left with the intellect of a 4-year-old child. That’s two years younger than the girl he molested.
The back door settlement, never the less paid with tax dollars, is the county’s largest ever for an in-custody incident involving sheriffs. All five Orange County Board of Supervisors refuse to comment on the deal even though constituents certainly have the right to know since it’s their money. The illegal alien’s family will get $3.75 million and $900,000 will go to medical liens rendered while in custody.
Let me get this straight. This monster is in the country illegally. Check. He molests a 6 YEAR OLD GIRL. Check. He goes to prison, where he gets three squares a day on the taxpayers dime. Check. He gets beat up, as most child molesters are wont to do in prison, as they are lower than pond scum in the prison totem pole. Check. And he is awarded $4 MILLION Dollars??? Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. (Sorry Chad, had to do it again)
I’m sorry, but this piece of garbage doesn’t deserve a freakin’ dime. He did the crime, he must do the time. People get hurt and/or killed every day in prison. Guess what? That’s just life in prison. If you don’t like it, don’t commit crimes. If he wouldn’t have come into this country illegally, he wouldn’t be in this position. What the F**K is wrong with this country? And now the taxpayers of the bankrupt state of California are going to pay $4 million to this POS who molested a 6 year old??
I have NO sympathy for this POS. None. Nothing. Nada. Soooo – how much do you think the family of his victim is going to get? Hmmmm? Out of respect for my lovely host on this blog, I will cease now, lest I get even more pi$$ed off, if that’s possible. My eyes are already shooting blood.

Specter Intends to Switch Political Parties
Veteran GOP Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania intends to switch political parties and run in the Democratic primary in 2010, FOX News has confirmed.
“I deeply regret that I will be disappointing many friends and supporters,” Specter said in prepared remarks to be delivered at a news conference on Tuesday.
“I can understand their disappointment,” he continued. “I am also disappointed that so many in the party I have worked for for more than four decades do not want me to be their candidate. It is very painful on both sides.”
And we are suppose to be surprised by this “switch”? Just because a politician has a particular letter behind his/her name, does NOT mean they support the ideals of that party. Specter has proved this time and again. He evidently figured he couldn’t win re-election as a Republican, and the Dhimmis spend LOTS of money to get their candidates elected (yes, you can read that as BUYING), so why not? It’s not like he was actually working FOR the people, y’know.
Like someone said on Twitter….if we could only get rid of the rest of the RINOs, perhaps we can get the Republican Party back. Then, it’ll be a Party I can once again, support.
Feel Good Education = Fail
Are ‘No-Fail’ Grading Systems Hurting or Helping Students?
What’s a kid gotta do to get an “F” these days?
At a growing number of middle schools and high schools across the country, students no longer receive failing marks when they fail. Instead, they get an “H” — for “held” — on their report cards, and they’re given a chance to rectify their poor performance without tanking the entire semester.
Educators in schools from Costa Mesa, Calif., to Maynard, Mass., are also employing a policy known in school hallways as ZAP — or “Zeros Aren’t Permitted” — which gives students an opportunity to finish the homework they neglected to do on time.
While administrators and teachers say the policies provide hope for underperforming students, critics say that lowering or altering education standards is not the answer. They point to case studies in Grand Rapids, Mich., where public high schools are using the “H” grading system this year and, according to reports, only 16 percent of first-semester “H” grades became passing grades in the second semester.
HINT: In real life, there are no ‘do-overs’!
I’m sure everyone FEELS good making this part of education, but it accomplishes little when it comes to preparing the kids for the cold, hard realities of the ‘grown up’ world. If a kid knows you don’t expect him/her to do the best possible, that’s exactly what you are going to get. Is it really so surprising US schools have fallen so far behind other countries in education? This a trend that really MUST be reversed! Expect the best, in whatever your child does. It’s ok to fail, once, even twice. If a kid still doesn’t do the work required, then I’d look to the parents, and the teachers, for the short comings.

Don’t know why that hit me, but…..hmmm….. Oh, wait a minute, maybe because of all the 100 day hoopla?
White House Military Office Apologizes to New York
Well, at least they apologized…
NEW YORK (CNN) — Workers and residents in several downtown Manhattan buildings evacuated themselves Monday morning after a low-flying Boeing 747 was spotted above the city’s skyline.
![]()
A New York police official says the department had been alerted about the flight.
Louis Caldera, director of the White House Military Office, apologized for the confusion Monday.
“Last week, I approved a mission over New York. I take responsibility for that decision,” he said. “While federal authorities took the proper steps to notify state and local authorities in New York and New Jersey, it’s clear that the mission created confusion and disruption.”
People reported seeing the plane circle over the Upper New York Bay near the Statue of Liberty before it flew up the Hudson River. It was accompanied by two F-16s.
“I was here on 9/11,” said iReporter Tom Kruk, who spotted the plane as he was getting coffee Monday morning and snapped a photo. Kruk called the sight of the aircraft low in the sky “unsettling.”
Linda Garcia-Rose, a social worker who counsels post-traumatic stress disorder patients in an office just three blocks from where the World Trade Center towers once stood, called the flight an “absolute travesty.”
“There was no warning. It looked like the plane was about to come into us,” she said. “I’m a therapist, and I actually had a panic attack.”
Garcia-Rose, who works with nearly two dozen post-traumatic stress disorder patients ages 15 to 47, said she was inundated with phone calls from patients Monday morning.
“They’re traumatized. They’re asking ‘How could this happen?’ They’re nervous. Their anxiety levels are high,” she said.
Garcia-Rose is considering filing a class-action suit against the government for sanctioning the plane’s unannounced flight. “I believe the government has done something really wrong,” she said.
Capt. Anna Carpenter of Andrews Air Force Base said local law enforcement agencies and the Federal Aviation Administration had been given notice of the exercise.
In a written statement, New York Police Deputy Commissioner Paul J. Browne said the department had been alerted to the flight by the federal agency “with directives to local authorities not to disclose information about it.” (Emphasis mine)
At a news conference Monday afternoon, Mayor Michael Bloomberg expressed outrage that City Hall had been unable to warn New Yorkers of the flight in advance.
“First thing is, I’m annoyed — furious is a better word — that I wasn’t told,” he said. He called the aviation administration’s decision to classify details about the flight as sensitive and nonpublic “ridiculous” and “poor judgment.”
“Why the Defense Department wanted to do a photo op right around the site of the World Trade Center defies the imagination,” he said. “Had we known, I would have asked them not to.”
Sen. Chuck Schumer echoed the mayor’s sentiments in a separate news conference Monday afternoon, saying the Federal Aviation Administration should have notified the public to avoid panic.
“It is absolutely outrageous and appalling to think that the FAA would plan such a photo shoot and not warn the public, knowing full well New Yorkers still have the vivid memory of 9/11 sketched in their minds,” the New York Democrat said. Schumer said the FAA’s decision to not announce the fly-by “really borders on being either cruel or very very stupid.”
Building evacuations also took place across the Hudson River in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Why in the world would you not disclose information about this? Again, didn’t they realize they would scare the living crap out of people? This was the epitome of cluelessness, a trait we’re seeing more and more of coming out of Washington. Hang on folks – this is going to be a long, scary ride…
Just a Few Observations
Government really shouldn’t be poking their noses into the medical field. I wouldn’t call a plumber for advice on electrical work. Why on God’s green earth would I think a flippin’ politician has any expert knowledge on medicine??
Another ‘genius’ at HuffPo thinks he has all the answers. I don’t think he even knows the question. Clown must have been looking in the mirror when he came up with the word “douchebags”. (pssst….dipwad….it’s TWO words, not one)
Don’t think Secretary Nappy wasn’t serious? Think again.
Seriously, how utterly IGNORANT do you have to be to do something like this???????
Instead of cautioning against travel to Mexico, why not just close the border, no one coming in….armed guards, and a few land mines too might not be a bad idea. Hmmm….what a novel concept! Actually protecting LEGAL American citizens from invasions, and just think how much money the tax payers would save by NOT having to pay for illegals coming across who are sick.
The Boracle equates EXPENSIVE “global warming” legislation with the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. Is he freakin’ kidding? Sadly, no.
The Obamas expect YOU to give and give and give…..and give…..and give, but are too stingy to do any ‘giving’ of their own? Whoa….what a surprise!
Perhaps the TOTUS should be taken to the wood shed.
Just who is the Treasury borrowing all this money from anyway?
When ya get right down to it, these are some pretty big screwups in such a short period of time.
You gotta be freakin’ kidding! When you point one finger at someone else, there are 3 others pointing right back at you.
And, last, but not least……
Fly-By Terrifies New York
In one of the most boneheaded moves I’ve seen in quite awhile, Air Force One, chased by an F-16 fighter jet buzzed New York today.
Mayor Bloomberg went ballistic Monday after the U.S. military – without any warning to the public – buzzed New York City with one of the presidential planes trailed by an F-16 fighter jet.
Flying in as low as 1000 feet to 150 feet above New York City and taking photographs along the way, the planes circled the Statue of Liberty and flew over Manhattan, Staten Island, and New Jersey – then vanished.
Before they were gone, hundreds of frightened people had jammed the emergency lines, thousands of terrified people evacuated from buildings in the city and across the river in Jersey, and many New Yorkers had flashbacks to the 9/11 attacks.
“I didn’t know what was going on,” said Eunice Davis, 41, of Brooklyn, who was evacuated from the New York Mercantile Exchange. “Some planes were circling the building. I was afraid. I was here when the World Trade Center went down.”
“We thought we were under attack again,” added a shaken Wall Street worker, who declined to give his name.
Angry that an unnamed but “dumb” city official failed to notify him of the Pentagon’s plans, Bloomberg said a flyover so close to Ground Zero was insensitive and showed “poor judgement.”
He said the first he knew of it was when his BlackBerry began buzzing.
It “defies the imagination,” said Bloomberg, who insisted he would have tried to stop the shoot had he known about it.
The NYPD confirmed that it had been told of the Pentagon’s “aerial photo mission” last Thursday but ordered to stay quiet about it.
Sen. Chuck Schumer called the whole incident “absolutely outrageous and appalling.”“To think that the FAA would plan such a photo shoot and not warn the public, knowing full well that New Yorkers still have the vivid memory of 9/11 etched in their minds,” he said.
“In New York, of all places, to not warn the public that one of the largest jets in the county tailed
by a fighter jet is going to fly low over their communities defies logic and borders on simply being cruel.”Asked about the incident, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said only, “I have no information beyond what I saw” on news reports.
The flyover was staged by the people whose job it is to protect us from terrorist attacks.
The bigger plane was one of the customized Boeing 747s that serve as Air Force One when the President is aboard. President Obama was not on the flight.
“This was a planned, pre-approved military flight over New York to take photos,” said FAA spokesman Jim Peters. “It was pre-coordinated with everyone involved, including the city.”
The planes flew back to Andrews Air Foce Base in Maryland after scaring New York.
Seriously? Buzzing the city in which the worst terrorist attack on Amercan soil occurred WITHOUT informing the mayor of said city? How insensitive can you get?? I don’t blame the Mayor one bit for going “ballistic.” I think some heads should roll. Can you just imagine the terror that went through those people, particularly the ones who were there on 9/11? For a photo op?
The FAA spokesman notes that it was pre-coordinated with everyone involved, including the city…since when is the Mayor not consulted, or told, when something of this magnatude is going to happen?
I am quite curious to hear the official response from the Pentagon about this. How in the WORLD could no one have foreseen the panic in New York? Does anyone in Washington have any common sense left? Never mind – stupid question.
