Church of Scotland abandons Bible – allows gay pastor

The Church of Scotland has approved the appointment of an openly homosexual minister – the latest case of tensions over sexuality to prompt division in the Anglican Communion.

The church’s ruling body voted Saturday by 326 to 267 to support the appointment of the Rev. Scott Rennie, 37, who was previously married to a woman and is now in a relationship with a man.

I wonder if anyone that voted to support this guy’s appointment has ever actually read the Bible?

Rennie was first appointed as a minister 10 years ago, but has faced opposition from some critics since he moved to a church in Aberdeen, Scotland, last year.

The case threatens to divide Scottish religious leaders and follows tensions within the worldwide 77 million-member Anglican Communion. About 900 elders and ministers took part in a debate on Rennie’s case, but many chose to abstain from casting a vote.

One of the most disturbing things we have seen, is the division of churches. No matter the denomination, we are seeing way too many who have lost their faith, even though they still claim to believe. When a church abandons God, the church will not survive. Many of what today are called churches do not worship the Almighty, they have forgotten the Book which laid down laws for us to follow, and to prosper. We have seen this in daily life, though out, not only our nation, but every other Western country.

Rennie said he believed religious conservatives were behind attempts to oust him from his post. “The same talk was about when women were ordained and I think that argument suits those that don’t want any change,” he told Britain’s Sky News television on Saturday.

To put it quite simply, if you truly follows God’s word, you can not support a lifestyle that is contrary to that Word.  We are human.  We sin.  That is a fact.  What we are suppose to do is strive to be more Christ-like.  I have frequently heard that we, as Christians, are suppose to love everyone.  Well, in  a way, that is true.  However, loving and acceptance of sin is not the same thing.

John 5:13-15 13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. 15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

The lesson here is that you can be forgiven, if you ask, but if you continue in your sin, you have not truly accepted the teachings, or the forgiveness.

John 8:10-12 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. 12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

The key words here are “go, and sin no more.”  You cannot continue in your sin. For Christians, homosexuality is a sin.

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Any church that accepts a sin as the norm, that church is no longer a church of God, or of Christ.  That includes homosexuality, pedophilia, abortion, adultery, and a miriad of other sins who many believe we should just accept.  I just can’t do it.  Not if my faith in my Creator is real, and strong.  And I will not apologize for my faith.

REAL Torture – REAL Heroes

Remembering Bataan

On Memorial Day, forget Guantanamo Bay or Abu Ghraib. If you want to know about real torture, consider the scene in Bilibid Prison in Manila at some point in 1942.

It is described in the soon-to-be-released “Tears in the Darkness: The Story of the Bataan Death March and its Aftermath,” (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), by Michael and Elizabeth Norman:

“Here, for example, on a thin cotton pad on the concrete floor in Ward 11, a dim prison dormitory, is Army Air Corps Private Benjamin C. Steele, serial number 190-18-989. The patient presents symptoms of multiple infectious diseases, indications of starvation, and an infected puncture wound of the right instep. His pulse is 110, irregular and thready; his blood pressure is 95/50 but difficult to hear because of extensive edema; he has a fever of 103 degrees. He is often not oriented to time or place and must be forced to eat. His treatment protocol involves quinine for the malaria, carbasone and emetine and liquids for the dysentery, sulfa powder for the foot infection and incipient gangrene, and complete bed rest for his jaundice and pneumonia. A treatment plan with one notable omission: It did not address the most serious and easily treated of Ben Steele’s maladies, the one turning him into a fleshy elephantine grotesque, beriberi.”

“We’re Out Of Money”

23 May 2009, 1:51 pm. 2 Comments. Filed under Economy, Feckless Weasels, The ONE.

Can we say…..”HEY!  STOOPID!  If we’re out of money, then why the hell do you keep spending what we don’t have????”  Asswipe!

In a sobering holiday interview with C-SPAN, President Obama boldly told Americans: “We are out of money.”

C-SPAN host Steve Scully broke from a meek Washington press corps with probing questions for the new president.

SCULLY: You know the numbers, $1.7 trillion debt, a national deficit of $11 trillion. At what point do we run out of money?

OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we’ve made on health care so far. This is a consequence of the crisis that we’ve seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades.

So we’ve got a short-term problem, which is we had to spend a lot of money to salvage our financial system, we had to deal with the auto companies, a huge recession which drains tax revenue at the same time it’s putting more pressure on governments to provide unemployment insurance or make sure that food stamps are available for people who have been laid off.

So we have a short-term problem and we also have a long-term problem. The short-term problem is dwarfed by the long-term problem. And the long-term problem is Medicaid and Medicare. If we don’t reduce long-term health care inflation substantially, we can’t get control of the deficit.

So, one option is just to do nothing. We say, well, it’s too expensive for us to make some short-term investments in health care. We can’t afford it. We’ve got this big deficit. Let’s just keep the health care system that we’ve got now.

Along that trajectory, we will see health care cost as an overall share of our federal spending grow and grow and grow and grow until essentially it consumes everything…

SCULLY: When you see GM though as “Government Motors,” you’re reaction?

OBAMA: Well, you know – look we are trying to help an auto industry that is going through a combination of bad decision making over many years and an unprecedented crisis or at least a crisis we haven’t seen since the 1930′s. And you know the economy is going to bounce back and we want to get out of the business of helping auto companies as quickly as we can. I have got more enough to do without that. In the same way that I want to get out of the business of helping banks, but we have to make some strategic decisions about strategic industries…

SCULLY: States like California in desperate financial situation, will you be forced to bail out the states?

OBAMA: No. I think that what you’re seeing in states is that anytime you got a severe recession like this, as I said before, their demands on services are higher. So, they are sending more money out. At the same time, they’re bringing less tax revenue in. And that’s a painful adjustment, what we’re going end up seeing is lot of states making very difficult choices there…

SCULLY: William Howard Taft served on the court after his presidency, would you have any interest in being on the Supreme Court?

OBAMA: You know, I am not sure that I could get through Senate confirmation…

You “own” this one bub!  It’s ALL yours!  And we have to suffer for your ignorance.

Words of Wisdom

22 May 2009, 3:30 pm. 3 Comments. Filed under Opinion.

“Liz Cheney shows how you make mincemeat out of liberals. Don’t accept their fallacious premises. Don’t cop to an attitude that they’re better than everybody, or that you don’t have a chance. They’re not grounded in any substance whatsoever. Liberalism is itself in quicksand. There is no truth behind it. Liberalism is a series of mirages and images and PR.”
~ Rush ~

If you are a conservative, you’ve no doubt come across a liberal or ten, who never have a rational reason for why they believe what they do.  You’ll hear all sorts of arguments, but nothing rational, well reasoned.

One example:  Abortion.  You’ll hear “My body, my choice.”  Well, there’s another body involved.  A tiny one.  How is it anyone can claim it’s choice when there is a separate human body involved in the process.  One that is brutally ripped apart? “The procedure tears the baby’s body into pieces and the hose frequently jerks as pieces of the baby become lodged.” Or poisoned with salt? “The abortionist would remove as much amniotic fluid as he cound using a needle and syringe. He would then replace the amniotic fluid with a concentrated saline (salt) soloution that would poison and kill the fetus.“  I’m sorry, but how can anyone approve of such actions on the innocent?

Second example:  Taxes.  Now, the non-logic of the liberals will tell you “why shouldn’t the rich pay more in taxes?”  Well, they already do.  But let’s say, for the sake of argument, a rich guy has a business, and the gubmint double his income tax.  Where do you think this rich guy is going to get the extra bucks to pay those taxes?  Well, if he employs 40 people in his little business, odds are, he’s going to have to lay off 10+ of his employees in order to pay those exra taxes.  His income is tied to how well his company does, right?  Now, the company has fewer employees, which means less productivity, or quality will suffer.  Less productivity, means less sales of his product, which means less income.  Now that you have more unemployed, who picks up the check for their unemployment checks?  Well, the people who are running these companies that have less income, so they’ll have to lay off more people in order to make up the difference, so they can pay their taxes.  More taxes, more unemployment, less productivity, and the circle continues.  Pretty soon, there will be no companies producing anything.  The rich guy is no longer rich, he’s no longer employing anyone.  Not only are there now 40 people out of a job, but no product to sell, and one more business bites the dust.  Now, multiply that by 1,000,000.  Because the left wants the rich to be over taxed, they will have effectively put 40,000,000 blue collar workers out on the streets.  Way to go!  The left think this is the way to ‘share the wealth’.  However, if no one has wealth, there will be no ‘sharing’.

Just two examples of the left’s non-logic.  Just sayin’.

I was suppose to go pick up Jr at 11:30.  She was suppose to be taking the test to get her learner’s permit.  Well, looks like they need even more paper nonsense, so she showed up at my doorstep, sans a learner’s.  Why is it that illegals can get a driver’s license with no problem, but a legal teenager has to jump through hoops just for a learner’s?  Jeez.

So, I get the dubious pleasure of entertaining a teenager all weekend.  Pfft!  I’m too old for this!

Darth Cheney Kicks Butt

One of the better speeches I’ve heard in a very long time.

Text of Dick Cheney’s National Security Speech at AEI

Just a snippet or two:

For me, one of the defining experiences was the morning of 9/11 itself. As you might recall, I was in my office in that first hour, when radar caught sight of an airliner heading toward the White House at 500 miles an hour. That was Flight 77, the one that ended up hitting the Pentagon. With the plane still inbound, Secret Service agents came into my office and said we had to leave, now. A few moments later I found myself in a fortified White House command post somewhere down below.

There in the bunker came the reports and images that so many Americans remember from that day – word of the crash in Pennsylvania, the final phone calls from hijacked planes, the final horror for those who jumped to their death to escape burning alive. In the years since, I’ve heard occasional speculation that I’m a different man after 9/11. I wouldn’t say that. But I’ll freely admit that watching a coordinated, devastating attack on our country from an underground bunker at the White House can affect how you view your responsibilities.

And:

The key to any strategy is accurate intelligence, and skilled professionals to get that information in time to use it. In seeking to guard this nation against the threat of catastrophic violence, our Administration gave intelligence officers the tools and lawful authority they needed to gain vital information. We didn’t invent that authority. It is drawn from Article Two of the Constitution. And it was given specificity by the Congress after 9/11, in a Joint Resolution authorizing “all necessary and appropriate force” to protect the American people.

Our government prevented attacks and saved lives through the Terrorist Surveillance Program, which let us intercept calls and track contacts between al-Qaeda operatives and persons inside the United States. The program was top secret, and for good reason, until the editors of the New York Times got it and put it on the front page. After 9/11, the Times had spent months publishing the pictures and the stories of everyone killed by al-Qaeda on 9/11. Now here was that same newspaper publishing secrets in a way that could only help al-Qaeda. It impressed the Pulitzer committee, but it damn sure didn’t serve the interests of our country, or the safety of our people.

He says what he means, and means what he says.

I watched both speeches this morning. I have to tell you, nothing that the POTUS said stands out in my mind. All I heard was some campaign speech, like every other campaign speech he’s made. On the other hand, Cheney isn’t running for anything. Well, neither is Obama, but from his constant yammering, you’d think otherwise. What was that speech about? I have NO idea, just know the market dropped…..again.   In case you missed that one, here’s the text.

Part I and Part II

Part III and Part IV

Update: Came across the Obummer’s speech, just in case you want to suffer for way too long.

Stop Clapping!

21 May 2009, 8:28 pm. 1 Comment. Filed under Chuckles.

Barack Obama at a recent rural elementary school assembly in East Texas , asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands once every few seconds, holding the audience in total silence.

Then he said into the microphone, “Children, every time I clap my hands together, a child in America dies from gun violence.”

Then, little Richard Earl, with a proud East Texas drawl, pierced the quiet and said: ”Well, dumbass, stop clapping!”
