Adding to Heather’s addition…

… and those illegal aliens from south of the border are mostly Catholic. I’ve pointed out to those who want a free flow of illegal aliens that it’s also increasing the rate of Catholics into the country who tend to vigorously disagree with a lot of the liberal mind set, such as abortion rights and gay marriage. Those on the left tend to stop and think when you point this out.

About the percentage going down: Again the steady rise of Catholics and the rise of unaffiliated (agnostics, atheists, etc.) would be offsetting increases in Muslims, Buddhists, Jews etc.

Percentage of the population, not total numbers. If the number of Muslims doubled but the whole population also doubled (I don’t know if this is true, I’m trying to describe the math), the percentage of Muslims stays the same.

Plus, for every legal Somali immigrant, there’s how many illegal aliens from south of the border setting up housekeeping here…

Hmmm…. I don’t see how it could have gone down. Prison converts are a HUGE problem, and we’ve been actually bringing in a whole slew of Somali Muslims. I wonder why we aren’t bringing Somali Christians? Hmmm… Could be cuz there are so few of ‘em these days?

Thanks for posting this! I used to study this back in the ’80s and early ’90s and, if memory serves, the percentage of Muslims has gone done and not up since then. Very interesting.

By the way, in the world of statistics, though each set is unique to the moment it’s taken, two years should make only a tiny difference if the poll was taken properly as Pew is known to do.
