Gun Saves Clerk’s Life

Another testament to the fact that guns, in the hands of law abiding citizens, do not create more crime; they in fact can stop crime.

ROSWELL, Ga. — A Georgia liquor store clerk credits his police officer son with giving him two life-saving gifts: a cell phone and a gun

Joseph Wescott says the phone he slipped into his shirt pocket stopped a knife to his chest when a robbery suspect attacked him at the store in a northern Atlanta suburb. He then reached under the counter for the .40-caliber handgun and shot the man.

“The knife that he had looked like it was about 10-foot long,” the 67-year-old Wescott exclaimed.

When the suspect lunged at Wescott, he fell back and the knife struck the battery area of the phone, the clerk said. He then fired one shot at the man Monday night.

“That was the first time I had ever fired that gun,” he said.

Police said Carlos JeanPeirre, 34, is recovering from non-life threatening wounds and faces multiple charges including aggravated assault and attempted robbery.

Wescott’s son, Jason, said he gave both gifts to his father to keep him safe. “Something like that can happen in a split second and it’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it,” Jason Wescott said. (Emphasis mine)

After the attack, Joseph Wescot said he used his cell phone to call 911.

Again, it’s not the gun that is dangerous, it is the person carrying the gun. You can create all the bans in the world, and I can guarantee you that criminals will still be able to get a gun. Firearms in the hands of properly trained citizens are NOT dangerous…they can, and have, saved the lives of many a potential victim.

Off topic but I hope all went as planned and you’re resting comfortable with your new bionic ticker, don’t let Obama and friends get you too worked up K…..
And to the post, you’re right there when you say “it ain’t the gun that’s dangerous, it’s the person carrying it.” As a matter of fact I just last week was driving here in Chicagoland, cut off by a little punk at about 10 pm forcing me to come from a 60 mph cruise to almost a screeching halt to keep from rear ending me…
I got up next to he and his little Mexican mafia (he and 2 little chickies) and offered some driving advice with hand signals as well for good measure. The next light little punk keeps mouthing off and threatening ME as if I did something wrong, jumps out of his shi* car with  a baseball bat and approaches my vehicle, at which I snapped a phone pic of the charging Mexican and halted his advance with a skyward draw of my legal and registered although unloaded .38 I keep in the front of the convertible vehicle.

Attack averted, and one little punk taught a serious lesson without a shot fired, there’s more to the story but suffice it to say I left the police station and he didn’t, charged with attempted assault with a deadly weapon..ILLEGAL Alien as well.
If he took another step I would have wounded him in the leg and another I would have killed him. So your statement is correct, it’s the person not the gun and once it’s adjudicated I’m posting the picture and the whole damn story and names included.

@ChicagoRay Thanks for that anecdote – yet another illustration of my point. By the way, I posted this one, not ol’ Broad. At the moment, she is undergoing her surgery. As of 11:30, they still hadn’t brought her into the OR, but she was up next. As soon as I hear anything, I will be posting on the blog.

This is one of many examples of guns in the proper hand save lives and property.

Larry, there are a LOT of such examples you never hear about.  Why?  Because the Lame Stream Media is anti 2nd Amendment.  Not to mention, unless it’s good news about The ONE, they aren’t going to share it!
