Ol’ Broad Solves Problems

Tennessee legislature leaves problems for 2010

State lawmakers closed up shop for the year, having rewritten Tennessee’s guns laws, moved a step closer to passing a constitutional amendment on abortion and cut spending by state government by about 10 percent.

But immigration, higher education reform and the question of whether to allow the sale of wine in grocery stores are among the issues that remain unresolved as legislators leave the Capitol for the final time this summer.

A couple of things that should have been addressed YEARS ago, being put on the back burner again? What is wrong with this picture?

Here’s a couple of hints for the legislature….of EVERY state.

1. When it comes to immigration, the solution is quite simple. We have federal laws that prohibit folks from sneaking in through the back door. Enforce them. You find people here who don’t belong? Show ‘em the door, and slam it behind them. What could be simpler? You break the law, you get just punishment. You come legally…..Welcome! Now learn the language!

2. Higher education isn’t that difficult either. Trash the tenure B.S.! If you aren’t teaching ALL sides, you have no business being in education to begin with. This will also cut the costs of tuition. If you want to keep good educators, pay them well, but don’t fund their yachts, or pay for their same sex partner’s health care. Competition is a good thing, and it’s been removed from those so called institutions of higher learning. When it comes right down to it, we’ve got parents paying an enormous amount of money to give their kids a college education, and the kids come out even more stoopid than they went in. Ever watch “All Star Jay Walkers” on The Tonight Show?  Jeeeez!

3. Put the bloomin’ wine on the shelves.  We’re grownups, and should have the choice of whether we want to buy wine at the grocery store or have to waste gas driving all over town to get our cabernet to go with dinner….or not.

Food For Thought!

20 June 2009, 9:51 pm. 1 Comment. Filed under Life.

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else…

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Lies, Damn Lies, and Outright B.S.!

A Threat We Can’t Ignore

Even with the murders that have already occurred, Americans are not paying enough attention to the frightening connection between the right-wing hate-mongers who continue to slither among us and the gun crazies who believe a well-aimed bullet is the ticket to all their dreams.

The hate and fear trash like this clown are trying to push off on the “right-wing” is just mind boggling. What he doesn’t want you to know….the people who murdered the baby killer, the security guard, and the U.S. soldier were plain out crazy. Period! Was the Muslim who murdered the young hero a “right-wing hate-monger”?

I hope I’m wrong, but I can’t help feeling as if the murder at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington and the assassination of the abortion doctor in Wichita, Kan., and the slaying of three police officers in Pittsburgh — all of them right-wing, hate-driven attacks — were just the beginning and that worse is to come.

Oh, wait a minute….he didn’t mention the Islamonazi, did he? Hmmm…. Wonder why?

As if the wackos weren’t dangerous enough to begin with, the fuel to further inflame them is available in the over-the-top rhetoric of the National Rifle Association, which has relentlessly pounded the bogus theme that Barack Obama is planning to take away people’s guns. The group’s anti-Obama Web site is called gunbanobama.com.

Look at the site. Read the information there. The recent entries are about Sotomayor. The site has been up long before the election, and this bozo just now noticed it? Slow aren’t ya bubba! But I wouldn’t say it’s “over the top rhetoric”. I’d say the NRA sees The ONE for what he is….an abomination!

While the N.R.A. is not advocating violence, it shouldn’t take more than a glance at the newspapers to understand why this is a message that the country could do without. James von Brunn, the man accused of using a rifle to shoot a guard to death at the Holocaust museum last week, was described by relatives, associates and the police as a virulent racist and anti-Semite.

How dare you! I am a member of the NRA. A LIFE member! I am neither a racist, nor an anti-semite!  NEVER has the NRA EVER said ANYTHING that could be construed as ANY connection between the garbage like von Brunn and law abiding 2nd Amendment advocates!

There is no Obama gun ban on the way. Gun control advocates are, frankly, disappointed in the president’s unwillingness to move ahead on even the mildest of gun control measures.

What part of “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” does this joker not get?

What’s important to grasp here is that this madness has nothing to do with hunting, which the politicians always claim to be defending, and everything to do with the use of firearms to resist policies and lawful government actions that some gun owners don’t like.

I haven’t seen ANY ‘lawful government actions’ in a very long time. All I’ve seen recently are the constant shredding of the U.S. Constitution by an administration that evidently has never even read it, or if it has, has NO understanding of it….along with a large chunk of the LSM (lame stream media), led by the NYTs.

There was a wave of right-wing craziness along those lines during the Clinton administration. Four federal agents were killed and 16 others wounded in 1993 during an attempt to serve a search warrant at the Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Tex., where a stockpile of illegal machine guns had been amassed. The subsequent siege ended disastrously with a raging fire in which scores of people were killed.

Dear Lord in Heaven! Is this guy so bleedin’ clueless? Or just selectively ignorant? That was a HUGE fiasco perpetrated by the Clinton administration, and if ol’ Bob had bothered to actually read ALL the reports, he would have known that, instead of blaming those on the right. And please, don’t forget, David Koresch was certifiably insane.

You cannot blame the N.R.A. for McVeigh’s actions. But you can sure blame it for ignoring the tragic lessons of history and continuing to spray gasoline into an environment that we have seen explode time and again.

Then why insert it into your screed?

It might be wise to pay closer attention than we’ve been paying. The first step should be to bring additional gun control back into the policy mix.

No, it would be wise to put ideas like your in the trash, where they belong! It’s people like YOU who are adding ‘fuel to the fire’, NOT groups like the NRA, or any other 2nd Amendment advocate group.

Oh, and while we’re on the topic….. Nice shootin’ Tex! (aka the Mr)

nice shot

Apologies to anyone who has left comments recently that haven’t shown up.  It seems that we have a glitch….  no matter how many times I approve a comment, it goes right back into the “pending” queue.  It’s not that I’m not approving your comments, it’s just that there is an attitude problem that is lurking in the bowels of the blog.  :?

This Is Justice?

This from our local fish wrap:

47-year old pleads on sex charges

A Savannah man has been released from the Hardin County Jail after pleading guilty to six counts of sexual battery, officials said.

Rickey John Daniels, 47, had been held since his arrest on May 24, 2007, according to Savannah police iInvestigator Tim Keen.

Hardin County Circuit Court records show Daniels had originally been charged with two counts rape of a child, three counts of rape and one count of statutory rape.

Given credit for time service, he received a two-year sentence as a Range 1 offender eligible for probation after serving 30 percent.

Keen said the victims were a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year old boy and the earliest offenses occurred in 2005.

Excuse me, but just who thought this deal was a good idea?  We’re talking rape and children, and they let the scum bag out after 2 years, in the county jail?  Now, as best as I can figure out, a Range 1 offender is considered kind of minor.  Can someone help me out here?  Since when is the rape of a child “minor”?

As you can see, the Ol’ Broad is back. She’s back home and resting…well, if not comfortably, she’s at least resting. At least that what she tells me. She finally got some good drugs from the Doc, so I’m sure that in no time she’ll be back here, cranky as hell.

Again, thanks for all the well wishes and prayers – I know she and Mr. really appreciate it!!

WELCOME HOME OL’ BROAD!!!

Pixar Grants Girl’s Dying Wish

19 June 2009, 10:06 am. Comments Off. Filed under Chris From Racine, General News, Heroes.

I’ve always liked Pixar movies…

HUNTINGTON BEACH – Colby Curtin, a 10-year-old with a rare form of cancer, was staying alive for one thing – a movie.

From the minute Colby saw the previews to the Disney-Pixar movie Up, she was desperate to see it. Colby had been diagnosed with vascular cancer about three years ago, said her mother, Lisa Curtin, and at the beginning of this month it became apparent that she would die soon and was too ill to be moved to a theater to see the film.

After a family friend made frantic calls to Pixar to help grant Colby her dying wish, Pixar came to the rescue.

The company flew an employee with a DVD of Up, which is only in theaters, to the Curtins’ Huntington Beach home on June 10 for a private viewing of the movie.

The animated movie begins with scenes showing the evolution of a relationship between a husband and wife. After losing his wife in old age, the now grumpy man deals with his loss by attaching thousands of balloons to his house, flying into the sky, and going on an adventure with a little boy.

Colby died about seven hours after seeing the film.

You can read more about Colby here. I think it was a wonderful thing for Pixar to do…especially since the movie is still in the theater. Kudos to them for doing the right thing.

A Good Man with Good Values

19 June 2009, 8:12 am. Comments Off. Filed under 2010, Chris From Racine, Election Stuff, General News, Politics.

From Sam’s website
votesam3[1]

Today I filed my papers to become a candidate for the Wisconsin Assembly – 12th District. This is the seat currently held by Rep. Fred Kessler.

I’m running on who I am – a conservative.

I think the state government should lower taxes. How? Well first by looking for duplicate services and eliminating them. Those who receive money should be held to the highest standards and if they don’t meet those standards, they should stop getting the funds.

This budget and previous one’s have been put together behind closed doors. Our legislators need to be held accountable, especially when deciding on how to administer money. No budget should be voted on until the citizens of the state have a say in it. We need a daylight budget process.

I also believe that education is priority. The state should encourage the best in schools, no matter if it is a public, private, charter, choice, virtual school or home schooling. What matters is the education received.

In this economy and really at all times, job creation is important. Private industry provides the best avenue for job growth and entrepreneurship. The state should not stand in the way. Less government allows for more freedom to grow in all areas of life including the business climate.

I’ll have more on my website within a couple of weeks.

This is a good man with values I can believe in.

Medical Update: Update

18 June 2009, 1:06 pm. 11 Comments. Filed under Chris From Racine, Friends & Family, Life.

I know that many of you are thinking about and praying for the Ol’ Broad as she undergoes surgery to “install” a pacemaker. I thought I’d update you on what’s happening so far.

She was scheduled to be at the appointment at 8:00 a.m. As of 11:30 a.m., she was “wired to contraptions” still waiting for the surgery. And yes, she was ornery as ever. Can you imagine our friend with no coffee or cigarettes??? Yikes!! I think Mr. Ol’ Broad deserves a few prayers! ;)

In any case, they told her that she was up next, so hopefully she was brought into the OR soon after that.

I will keep you updated as soon as I hear anything. In the meantime, please keep those good thoughts, wishes, and prayers coming…

UPDATE: Just got a text from Ol’ Broad… “Alive. Dopey” (as if we didn’t know that already) :D

I have a feeling we’re soon in for some really fun posts ;)
