An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

Effective Today, July 1

Looks like the legislators in Nashville didn’t have enough to do with real issues.  Nope, they had to come up with a few laws that shouldn’t even have to be an issue.  You’d think that Common Sense would prevail, but since he was buried quite a while ago, the state folks thought it would be a good idea to point out the obvious.  For instance:

Prohibiting people from reading or sending cell phone text messages while driving. SB0393.

Now, I don’t know about you, but this isn’t really something I do. It makes no sense to try to type, while driving. You’re suppose to keep your eyes on the road at all times. At least that’s what I was taught in Driver’s Ed, way back in 19**. (nunya bidnez)

How ’bout this one:

Forbidding aiming a laser pointer at firefighters and emergency medical technicians. HB0815.

Well DUH! People shouldn’t be pointing those things at anyone, at any time. I’m wondering if they thought this law was necessary because of the lazer’s that are on guns? Then of course, you shouldn’t be pointing a gun at firefighters and EMT’s either!

Weren’t people aware ya don’t do this either?

Creating an offense for falsely wearing military decorations. SB1168

I thought there were already laws prohibiting such things, but I guess not. Bubba, you wanna those ribbons, you damn sure better have earned ‘em!

‘Scuse me?

Printing larger dates of birth on Tennessee driver’s licenses to make them easier for retailers to read.

Put your flippin’ glasses on! I’m an old woman, and perhaps not the brightest bulb in the box, but even I know if I can’t read something without my glasses, I need to put ‘em on! Jeeez!

And this is just weird:

Making it a criminal offense for a person to disseminate autopsy images without consent from the deceased’s family. SB1517.

Why would anyone want to even do such a thing?

Like I said….common sense is dead, so lawmakers, evidently, have to put more laws on the books, so we don’t do stupid stuff.  Really sad commentary, isn’t it.  :?   There are a LOT more, but these are just the ones that caught my attention.

As Silence said a couple of weeks ago, the 106th General Assembly comes into the books as being the 106th Worst Assembly.

Honestly, I believe we elect these people so they can sit around and scratch their butts and come up with new ways to intrude on our lives, and take away all rational thought.  Sheesh!
