Actually I am a bit disappointed with hero worship today. When I was a child I had heroes. My Grandfather and Uncles were police officers and Marines who fought in the European and Pacific Theaters. My mom would tell me stories because they did not talk about it, that is until I enlisted. Then the shoe and cigar boxes came out with Bronze and Stars and Purple Hearts. My father and neighbor's fathers, all farmers, worked during the day at home and then went to factories and offices at night to help the families through the tough times of the 70's. All the women in the community who worked hard at home, and worked at the school, and at the hospital, took care of the kids kept the farms when the men were gone. These all are my heroes. They had flaws, each and every one of them, but they were ordinary men and women who did very extraordinary things. They did what they did not because they made a million dollars evertime they went on camera but rather because they loved. They loved their families, communities, and country. There was no pedestal to fall from because the Franks, Harolds, Louis, Cliffs, Lois, Leonas, Rosys, and Richards would not have it. They would be the first to tell you that they were just people doing what needed to be done when it needed doing...

I, too, have been distressed by his indescretion and I've wondered if he hadn't been shot dead and maybe just shot and wounded, how different would be all feel when he apologized publicly to his wife and children as he admits he is human and never meant to be a role model and we see a tear glisten as the well-placed lights reflect his alleged sadness with a brief sparkle.

P.S. I didn't hear the podcast, I'm just a first-timer commenting on the written post.
