First Family’s Vacation Plans Take Shape Around Familiar Chilmark Farm
President Barack Obama and the First Family will rent the bucolic Blue Heron Farm off South Road in Chilmark for their vacation during the last week of August.
The 28.5-acre property some five hundred yards down Cobb’s Hill Road, spans the Chilmark and West Tisbury town line and overlooks Town Cove, the westernmost finger of the Tisbury Great Pond.
While the mechanics of renting the property were still ongoing at press time, the Gazette has learned that a rental agreement for the farm will comprise three leases, one to be held by the Obamas, another by the Secret Service and a third by a White House entourage.
The amount of the rental has not been disclosed, but up-Island properties similar to Blue Heron Farm rent for between $35,000 to $50,000 per week.
Seriously, I don’t have a problem with the Obummers taking a vacation. That being said, the way I see it, they’ve been on vacation pretty much since 20 January 2009. All the globe trotting at tax payer expense, Michelle’s shopping sprees, and such. At a time when the economy isn’t doing too great, and people are out of work, is it really such a good idea to rent a place for THAT much money? Aren’t there other properties that could be had for much less that would provide the privacy, and security, a POTUS requires? Who is footing the bill for all their free spending? Somehow I doubt it’s the Obummers themselves. Weren’t they up to their necks in credit card debt? Don’t they own a house in Illinois where they could go spend some time?
Oh, wait a minute. I forgot. WE have to ‘tighten our belts’, and ‘make sacrifices’, not The ONE. If it was HIS money, I wouldn’t see a problem, but since I rather doubt it is, and is OUR money they are having such a great time on, I have issues. If the country wasn’t going down the tubes economically, due to all the stupidity going on in D.C., this wouldn’t be a major problem for me. But it is. Shouldn’t the POTUS show some restrain, and concern for the hard working Americans, those that still have a job, that is.
Curiosity. How will he support his lavish lifestyle when there is no more coming in from the former tax payers, and he’s thrown back to Chicago, or Kenya, or where ever the heck he’s from?
