Utterly Preventable
Sometimes I’ve just gotta shake my head…it prevents me from screaming or crying. Which is what I did when I read this.
The boy being held in his mother’s lap was killed when the SUV they were riding in collided head-on with a semi-truck on Badger Road just before 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 21.
Three-month-old Angel Mendoza Garcia was thrown from the SUV and died at the scene, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary.
A child’s car seat was in the back seat, but it was not secured.
Excuse me? Okay, let’s see here…you have a car seat in the car, yet you CHOOSE to hold a 3 MONTH OLD in your lap? Are you insane???
The mother, 25-year-old Luciana Garcia Silva of Sumas, suffered internal injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She was in critical condition in the intensive care unit Wednesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
They were in the front passenger seat of a 1997 Ford Explorer going east on Badger near Northwood Road when the SUV crossed the center line and collided with a westbound semi-truck, Leary said. It was obvious to state troopers that the SUV went well into the wrong lane of traffic because the passenger side of the vehicle where the mother and son sat took the most impact, he said.
The SUV driver ran from the scene. Leary would not say how they linked Lopez to the crash.
The driver, once found, will likely be charged with vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run, Leary said. Garcia Silva could be charged with reckless endangerment, he said.
Could be? COULD BE?? This woman should be charged with the death of this baby. But for the fact that she, for whatever reason, bypassed the carseat, and CHOSE to hold that precious baby in her lap, that baby might be alive. Maybe not, but his chances would have been greatly improved.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…people should be temporarily sterilized at puberty and not be able to have it reversed unless and until they pass a rigorous parenting test.

Congresswoman Backs New Equal Rights Amendment; Points to Afghanistan, China as Models
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) told activists rallying on Capitol Hill in support of the newly reintroduced Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), that the United States should join 27 other countries that have equality guarantees for women, including Rwanda, Algeria, China and Afghanistan.
“It does make a difference if an Equal Rights Amendment is in place or not,” Lee told the people who gathered outside of the Capitol on Tuesday.
“Twenty-seven other countries, including Rwanda, Afghanistan, Algeria and China have equality provisions,” Lee said.

Is that woman on crack???????
According to the State Department’s 2008 report on human rights, the four countries cited by Jackson Lee are in fact described as nations where women face grave injustices, including rape, domestic abuse, and trafficking for prostitution.
And she think we should follow THEIR example? Honestly, I do believe people who have spent way too much time in Washington, D.C. no longer live in the real world, and have lost all touch with reality.
Ann On Obama NON Care
Take Two Aspirin And Call Me When Your Cancer is Stage 4
by Ann Coulter
All the problems with the American health care system come from government intervention, so naturally the Democrats’ idea for fixing it is more government intervention. This is like trying to sober up by having another drink.
The reason seeing a doctor is already more like going to the DMV, and less like going to the Apple “Genius Bar,” is that the government decided health care was too important to be left to the free market. Yes — the same free market that has produced such a cornucopia of inexpensive goods and services that, today, even poor people have cell phones and flat-screen TVs.
As a result, it’s easier to get your computer fixed than your health. Thanks, government!
We already have near-universal health coverage in the form of Medicare, Medicaid, veterans’ hospitals, emergency rooms and tax-deductible employer-provided health care — all government creations.
So now, everyone expects doctors to be free. People who pay $200 for a haircut are indignant if it costs more than a $20 co-pay to see a doctor.

Oooh, Don’t Forget, ‘Now Is The Time To Act’!
Senate Republicans e-mail me:
Given the rhetoric from the White House directed toward unnamed “opponents of health care reform” and those who “defend the status quo” (whoever they are), the SRCC has prepared “Straw Man Bingo” based on actual quotes from the Administration so you can track references to these anonymous evildoers in tonight’s press conference.
It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but they left off a few of my favorite Obama cliches, some of which are straw men, some of which are rhetorical crutches: “We inherited these problems”; “the alternative is to do nothing”; “Let me be clear”; “Can’t get distracted by . . .”; and finally, “As you know, I’ve consistently said,” usually used when announcing a change in position.

Bad Call!
Well, I’m sure that’s what that Obamabot realized when he finally hung up the phone. Heh.
I get this phone call, some young man, who barely took a breath before launching into his spiel, is probably wishing he had never dialed my number. I’m guessing it was one of those computer generated calls, sequential type things. I heard about how horrible the health care system is, and how desparating we need to overhaul the whole thing. Once I managed to get a word in, I flat out, but politely, informed him he made a MAJOR mistake dialing our number. I do not believe in ObamaCare, and nothing he could say would change my mind. He kind of chuckled and said, “I guess it would be wise of me not to continue?” Uh yeah….REAL wise choice there bubba!
TN Reps KNOW It Doesn’t Work!
Lessons For Health Care Reform
By Reps. Marsha Blackburn and Phil Roe
Tennessee was home to a failed attempt at universal single payer care, and has lessons to teach a President who has promised that in pursuing his goal of universal health care, he will learn from the policy failures of the past. In 1994 Tennessee implemented managed care in its Medicaid program, creating a system known as TennCare. The objective was to use the anticipated savings from Medicaid to fund and expand coverage for children and the uninsured. The result was a program that nearly bankrupted the state, reduced the quality of care, and collapsed under its own weight.
The genesis of TennCare has many parallels to the situation in which we find ourselves today. It was a public option plan designed to save money and expand coverage. In the early 1990s, Tennessee was facing rising costs in its Medicaid program. TennCare was designed to replace Mediaid with managed care and use the promised savings to expand coverage. By 1998, TennCare swelled to cover 1.2 million people. Private business dropped coverage for employees and forced them onto state rolls. By 2002 enrollment had swelled to 1.4 million people and forced Tennessee’s Governor to raise taxes and ultimately propose an entirely new state income tax to cover the unforeseen costs. Governor Bredesen was ultimately forced to dramatically restructure a program he has since called “a disaster”. By 2006 Bredesen had disenrolled nearly 200,000 people and slashed benefits.
Does D.C. Actually WANT a “War”?
Considering the ever encroaching “Big Brother” mentality, I’m going to have to say, yes….yes, they do. They want to have us under their thumb, under their control, and I know of a whole lot of citizens who are going to start pushing back if they don’t come to their senses.
Washington drops hammer on state gun plan
‘As you may know, federal law … supersedes the act’
Federal gun regulators have written to gun dealers around Tennessee, dropping the hammer on a new state law that exempts weapons made, sold and used inside the state from interstate regulations.
The letter, dated just days ago, was distributed to holders of Federal Firearms Licenses.
In it, Carson W. Carroll, the assistant director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, told dealers the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act, adopted this year, “purports to exempt personal firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition manufactured in the state, and which remain in the state, from most federal firearms laws and regulations.”
The exemption is not right, the federal agency letter contends.
Has anyone in Washington actually read the Constitution?
10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.
I’m not aware that the citizens of any state has handed over control to the federal government. I do know they have been stealing control, little by little, since the War of Northern Aggression. In recent years, it’s been a blatant slap in the face of every U.S. citizen, yet we said nothing. Well, now, we’re saying something….as loud and as long as we can. Pay attention!
The law was adopted by the state Legislature this year. It provides that “federal laws and regulations do not apply to personal firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition that is manufactured in Tennessee and remains in Tennessee.” It also carries exemptions for certain types of weapons and ammunition and the requirement that all firearms made or sold in the state have “Made in Tennessee” on them.
This is a state right. The feds may want to usurp the state, but it’s my understanding from reading the Constitution, they don’t have the right, nor the power, UNLESS the states say so.
Principle 21 – Strong local self-government is the keystone to preserving human freedom.
Returning the control of local issues to the local governmental bodies will strengthen our country. As a nation, our strength has been eroded by the bombardment of federal regulations, federal greed for power, federal intrusion. The federal government has actually black mailed states into compliance, by the threat of withholding ‘federal funds’. Well, here’s a clue. The federal government does NOT HAVE ANY MONEY! Zip. Zero. Zilch. The money they spend so freely comes from the citizens of the states and territories. If the feds want to play that game, why don’t the states keep the money, and use it to build the roads, and provide for the defense of the state? I’m fairly sure there would be more done with the governors working together, than the state relying on the feds to give them their own money back to them.
The pushback from the states comes at a time when the federal administration is replete with anti-gun activists in influential positions, including an attorney general, Eric Holder, who supported a complete handgun ban in the District of Columbia before it was tossed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Obama administration has even pushed for a treaty that would require sportsmen who reload their ammunition to obtain a federal license.
I go back to my original question: Does D.C. actually want a war? With it’s own citizens?
While seven states – Tennessee, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Alaska and Louisiana – have had both houses of their legislatures pass similar decrees, Palin signed Alaska’s Tenth Amendment declaration and Tennessee’s governor signed that state’s Tenth Amendment declaration of sovereignty.
If the citizens want to regain their freedoms, they might want to push their own legislators to establish their sovereignty. NOW! Too much has been ceded/stolen by Washington, and it’s way past time to put them back in their proper place….as OUR employees, not our masters.

When You’re In a Hole…Stop Digging: Deficit Cartoon
Heritage’s J.D. Foster on the deficit: “President Obama talks about responsibility, but the budget deficit this year is approaching $2 trillion and the national debt is set to double in just four years. Imagine what he would deem irresponsible! Yes, he inherited a plunging economy and soaring deficit. But then his stimulus and budget plans made a bad picture much worse. Politically and substantively, he now owns the irresponsible deficit — lock, stock and pork barrel.”

Alleged Affair Leads to Extortion Attempt Against Senator
An alleged extortion attempt has exposed an apparent sexual relationship between a prominent state senator and a young legislative intern.
That senator is Republican Paul Stanley from Memphis, chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee.
Authorities said he was the victim in the alleged extortion, but the case is certain to raise plenty of questions about Stanley and his family values agenda.
Tuesday evening NewsChannel 5 Investigates obtained the arrest affidavit that lays out how Sen. Paul Stanley found himself at the center of this messy case. This all happened back in April, but it had been kept very quiet until now.
TN Senator Involved in Sex Scandal, Extortion
Expected to Step Down Soon
Senator Paul Stanley helped TBI Investigators set up a man who is accused of blackmailing him for $10,000.
According to the arrest affidavit, Joel Palmer Watts tried to extort $10,000 out of Senator Stanley in exchange for a data card containing nude pictures of a woman both men were allegedly having a relationship with.
TBI says that the woman is 23 year old McKensie Morrison. Morrison is a student at Austin Peay State University and an intern for the 2009 legislative session.
According to the affidavit, Watts discovered pictures that showed the young woman in compromising positions in Senator Stanley’s Nashville apartment.
What is it with these people??? Can’t they keep it in their pants? I don’t give a flying flip what their party affliation is, they are public figures, and as such, should have some self restraint, and respect for those who put them into office. We try to teach our children responsible behavior, and then they watch the news to see this kind of crap? The asshat is 47 years old….don’t you think he should act like an adult? Adults don’t go off seeking out girls (or boys) more than half their age for a fling! Yeah, it’s been happening a lot more in recent years, but that also speaks volumes about what has become an immoral society. There’s right and there’s wrong! This kind of behavior is WRONG!
IF it turns out to be a scam, I’d like to ask….how did he manage to put himself in such a position to become a target? What sort of behavior was he exhibiting? He’s a married man with 2 children. Do those vows mean nothing anymore? I am personally sick of public figures behaving like goats in heat! Do we all make mistakes? Oh, yer damn skippy we do, and believe me, I’ve made my share of them as well, but then, I’m not a public official, am I?
Another LONG Day!
Today was another one of those, sit morning and haul hinder afternoon, days. Before taking off on our travels, I noticed a very fuzzy tail poking out from under my nightstand. I have NO idea how that cat manages to work her way under such low furniture, but Tazz does it. Probably as a self defense mechanism from Mr Spot.
The only way I could get the picture is to lay on the floor, obviously. So, all of a sudden I hear these running feet, vibrating the floor. I think I gave the poor Mr a heart attack! All he could see was my feet, with me laying out on the floor, thinking I had passed out or some such thing. I felt bad about scaring him like that at the time, but thinking back, it was kind of funny. Sorry hunny!
First stop….Lowe’s and a bathroom fixer upper shopping spree. There is going to be a massive change in that room! Ick is hard at work right now getting the remainder of the wall paper crap off. Got the mirror down, and voila…..more bloomin’ butt ugly wall paper.
We’ve got the patchy stuff, the paint, two different colors, obviously, and numerous new fixture type thingys. The only thing we’re missing, a new light fixture. After a couple of hours in Lowe’s, going back and forth, hunting down the guys who were looking for shelving whatchamacallits, I was at the point I didn’t care if there were lights in there or not. Heh. Unfortunately, Short Person and I had to make another stop….the ever popular Wally World, for real food stuff. Well, sorta real food.
After throwing more stuff than we needed in the cart, and remembering some forgotten items that weren’t so necessary (and not gone back for), SP and I got in line to wait our turn to check out. No problem. Where the problem started was with the check out female. All was fine until she asked SP if she was ready to go back to school, to which SP responded, “Not until the end of next month.” In Tennessee, the kids go back to school some time around August 12 or some such ridiculous thing. So, I mentioned that she lived in Texas and it hit the fan. I got this long drawn out story about some woman’s dog that bit her, and how rude people in Texas are. I said, yeah, there are many in the large cities who can be rude, mainly because they transplanted from New York or some such place. “NO. It wasn’t them, it was the NATIVE Texans.” I beg your pardon? “All those people in Texas are rude.” Ok, it could have hit the fan, but I kept my cool. I politely told her, “I’m a native Texan, and quite proud of it, too. I find that statement extremely insulting.” “Well, this was during the campaign, and they were all big McCain supporters,” in an amazingly snotty tone of voice. Calmly stated, “I wasn’t a McCain supporter, but I did support Sarah Palin.” I didn’t realize such a person could slam her mouth shut so fast!
I was quite pissed, and quite collected, considering. If I had any energy left, I would have requested to speak to the manager. I might just have to give them a call tomorrow, or pay them a visit. I don’t think that woman is going to last there very long. Not only was she snotty, rude and insulting, but she can’t bag stuff worth a flip! Who puts a bunch of heavy jars in the same bag with bread??? I had to rebag it all when we got out to the truck. Good thing there was an extra bag, so I wouldn’t end up crushing stuff. What a maroon!
Might Have Posted This Before But…..
…..it’s worth repeating.
A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said:
‘Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 yr. old and I’m pregnant again… I don’t want kids so close together.’
So the doctor said: ‘Ok; and what do you want me to do?’
She said: ‘I want you to end my pregnancy, and I’m counting on your help with this.’
The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: ‘I think I have a better solution for your problem. It’s less dangerous for you too.’
She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.
Then he continued: ‘You see, in order for you not to have to take care of two babies at the same time, let’s kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we’re going to kill one of them, it doesn’t matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.
The lady was horrified and said: ‘No doctor! How terrible! It’s a crime to kill a child!
‘I agree’, the doctor replied. ‘But you seemed to be ok with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution. The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point.
He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that’s already been born and one that’s still in the womb. The crime is the same!

One Big Ass Mistake America!
Obama Stimulus Spending Includes Rental Cars, Outhouses, and ‘Sediment Removal’
Among the 3,266 entries in a government database detailing to-date spending under the Democrats’ stimulus law are expenditures for concrete outhouses, “deli-sliced” turkey, and hotel bills.
Passed in February, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA) – also called the “stimulus package” — was sought and signed into law by President Obama, who declared at the time, “We have begun the essential work of keeping the American dream alive in our time.”
Well, he lied! Big shocker there, eh?
Among the more than 3,000 projects, purchases, and grants made with stimulus money obtained through the Federal Procurement Data System, some of the projects that have contributed to keeping the American dream alive include:
- $2.2 million to the Seneca Foods Corporation in Marion, NY for “fruit, canned;” the same company received another contract worth $196,797 also, for “fruit, canned”
- $4.8 million for “frozen, sliced ham”
- $5.3 million for “deli-style turkey breast” from the Jennie-O Turkey company
- $5.5 million in “canned fruit” from the Del Monte Corporation
- $16.8 million in “canned pork” from Lakeside Foods Inc
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack explained that food purchased with stimulus money went to help the needy, which also stimulated the economy.
How? Just how does giving handouts stimulate the economy?
“While the principal purpose of these expenditures is to provide food to those hardest hit by these tough times, the purchases also provide a modest economic benefit,” Vilsack said in a statement Monday.
I have NO problem in giving a hand up to those in need. I have MAJOR issues at the handouts that have turned people into ‘welfare queens’……and kings. If there were jobs to be had, then these people would be able to earn the money to buy their own hams and canned fruit. Granted, there are many who are too freakin’ lazy to get off their asses and actually WORK to earn their keep, and those types seem to be Obama’s biggest fans.
Obama defended the broader impact of stimulus spending, saying that the ARRA was intended to “rebuild” the country better then he found it.
“[O]nce we clear away the wreckage, the real question is what we will build in its place. Even as we rescue this economy from a full-blown crisis, I have insisted that we must rebuild it better than before,” Obama said June 11.
That’s liberal speak for “I hate this country, and I’m going to destroy it!” I’ve yet to see this ‘better’ he speaks of. I see destruction of a once great and proud nation being reduced to rubble, and rebuilt as a socialist failure!
Want to know how bloomin’ incompetent our government really is? “$840 to “disassemble” one desk and “properly reassemble and relocate” 2 other desks in Reston, Va.” I know a lot of folks who could have “disassembled” one desk, and put a couple more together for a WHOLE lot less money. Did they have to hire outside desk assemblers for this one? Was no one in that office capable of following simple instructions, while on the clock? Evidently not.
