Doctors Know Health Care…..
…..politicians don’t know dick!
Get the gubmint OUT of the health care system!
Chaos!
That’s what it has been around this house since I got home Sunday evening. Two days of driving with kids in tow, and then trying to recouperate, only to turn around yesterday, and have to drive to Jackson to go bra shopping for Jr (no, they do not have her size at Wally World….sigh….), then drive another couple of hours to take her home. Honestly, I do not want to get behind the wheel of any vehicle again for a month. I can only dream.
I have to ask. Why are there so many driveways going nowhere on HWY 69? Seriously. There are tons of paved driveways, anywhere from just a few feet to a couple of hundred, that head straight into trees. Going nowhere. I’ve often wondered why they were there. We came up with a few theories, but it still doesn’t make a lot of sense.
While Ick is here, he’s got a ‘honey-do’ list a mile long. Hey….he’s young, he can do stuff we can’t anymore! We’re old, give us a break.
One of the major reasons he came along was to bring my really cool yard swing, that wouldn’t fit in my 4 foot bed. I do NOT want to hear about my ‘immitation’ truck, or cruck, as the brat refers to it. Well, the Mr and Ick headed out to the man cave this morning to put it together, only to find, there were suppose to be TWO boxes, not just one. So, we just spent some time on the phone with the place where I bought it, politely telling them they better get that other box here ASAP! I’ve no doubt he and Short Person would like to go home eventually, and waiting around for the seat of a swing was NOT in their plans.
There is also some shelf building and perhaps little carpet ripping and tile laying in the bathroom in his very near future. Heh. Not to mention a little aid in finishing that bathroom project of removing wall paper and painting I started before the health went to hell in a hand basket. Poor guy!
But hey, look at it this way. He did learn how to make a pen last night.
“Morning Bell” – President Clueless
Obama Admits He’s “Not Familiar” With House Bill
With the public’s trust in his handling of health care tanking (50%-44% of Americans disapprove), the White House has launched a new phase of its strategy designed to pass Obamacare: all Obama, all the time. As part of that effort, Obama hosted a conference call with leftist bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible.
During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (quote begins at 17:10)
This is a truly disturbing admission by the President, especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.” How can Obama keep making this promise if he is not familiar with the health legislation that is being written in Congress? Details matter.
We are familiar with the passage IBD sites, and as we wrote last week, the House bill does not outright outlaw private individual health insurance, but it does effectively regulate it out of existence. The House bill does allow private insurance to be sold, but only “Exchange-participating health benefits plans.” In order to qualify as an “Exchange-participating health benefits plan,” all health insurance plans must conform to a slew of new regulations, including community rating and guaranteed issue. These will all send the cost of private individual health insurance skyrocketing. Furthermore, all these new regulations would not apply just to individual insurance plans, but to all insurance plans. So the House bill will also drive up the cost of your existing employer coverage as well. Until, of course, it becomes so expensive that your company makes the perfectly economical decision to dump you into the government plan.
President Obama may not care to study how many people will lose their current health insurance if his plan becomes law, but like most Americans, we do. That is why we partnered with the Lewin Group to study how many Americans would be forced into the government “option” under the House health plan. Here is what we found:
- Approximately 103 million people would be covered under the new public plan and, as a consequence, about 83.4 million people would lose their private insurance. This would represent a 48.4 percent reduction in the number of people with private coverage.
- About 88.1 million workers would see their current private, employer-sponsored health plan go away and would be shifted to the public plan.
- Yearly premiums for the typical American with private coverage could go up by as much as $460 per privately-insured person, as a result of increased cost-shifting stemming from a public plan modeled on Medicare.
It is truly frightening that the President of the United States is pressuring Congress in an all-out media blitz to pass legislation that he flatly admits he has not read and is not familiar with. President Obama owes it to the American people to stop making promises about what his health plan will or will not do until he has read it, and can properly defend it in public, to his own supporters.
Quick Hits:
- Thanks to a steep drop from conservative and moderate Democrats, a plurality of Americans (49%-47%) now disapprove of President Obama’s handling of the economy.
- The Mayo Clinic on the House health bill: “Although there are some positive provisions in the current House Tri-Committee bill … the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients. In fact, it will do the opposite. … The real losers will be the citizens of the United States.”
- According to Wall Street Bailout watchdog Neil Barofsky, the Obama Treasury Department has refused to give, or seek, answers about the use of bailout funds, while the total bailout commitment of the federal government has risen to $23 trillion.
- Thanks to Obama’s “sweeping agenda,” the lobbyists on K Street are “awash in cash.”
- The Senate health bill gives the Health and Human Services secretary the authority to develop “standards of measuring gender” — as opposed to using the traditional “male” and “female” categories — in a database of all who apply or participate in government-run or government-supported health care plans.
Global Mania
Global Governance – A One-World Government!
by J.D. Longstreet
Just a snippet:
It is important to understand that all this drama about the earth melting, etc, is nothing more that frightening theatre to hopefully scare you to death so you will not mind paying the world wide carbon taxes they are hell bent on levying on the entire planet. What we have here is – more socialism at work. When you clear all the smoke away, you readily see this is nothing more than the redistribution of the world’s wealth just as the Democrat/socialist are attempting to do at this very moment in the USA.
All of this in the US, in the UN, and all over the planet, is one big push to institute socialism on a planet-wide scale and in one fell swoop.
I have spoken with a number of people, (men AND women) over the past few months, and there is one thing we all have in common – and that is a feeling of “general unease.” It’s a feeling of impending disaster. It is a certain anxiety with an unspecified causation. In other words, we all share a feeling that something “bad” is about to happen. It seems folks around the globe share this “feeling.” Nobody knows why this anxiety exists or what it is about. Nevertheless, it is real and very widespread.
Read the whole post here! PLEASE!
There is a film titled “Not Evil, Just Wrong” that addresses the hoax of global warming. I have to disagree with the title. I do believe it is evil. Any time a small group of people wants total control over the entire planet, by any means possible, that is evil. We’ve seen many individuals throughout history try to do just that, mostly through subjugation, and mass murder……by any means necessary to achieve their goal.
Now, we have a larger group of people trying to do the very same thing, through propaganda of fear. These types rely on your inability, or unwillingness to find answers for yourself. And it seems to be working. Following along blindly, just because a few so called scientists use a skewed chart, does not make it truth.
I am a citizen of the United States of American. I am NOT a ‘citizen of the world’. I have very little in common with a large chunk of the rest of the planet, and I certainaly am not about to lap up the false preachings of the likes of algore or the Useless Numnuts. I believe in freedom. They do not.
Very Cool!!
This story made me smile…
Tyler Perry, the star, writer and producer of films such as “Madea Goes to Jail” and the television show “House of Payne,” could be adding philanthropist to his growing list of credits.
According to his publicist, Perry is sponsoring a Disney World trip for 65 Pennsylvania children at a largely minority day-care center after a swim club canceled pool privileges for the children.
“He wanted to do something nice for them and let them know that for every negative experience, there are people out there who want them to succeed regardless of the color of their skin,” said Keleigh Thomas, Perry’s publicist. She added the entertainer would be footing the bill for all transportation, hotel, admissions and food costs at the Florida theme park.
When Perry heard about the situation with the children in the highly publicized aftermath of the pool cancellation, he immediately wanted to help them, Thomas told CNN, adding that a trip to Disney World is definitely “better than the pool.”
“I am ecstatic for the children,” Alethea Wright, director of the Creative Steps day-care center, told CNN. Perry’s team extended the offer to her on Friday, she said. The Disney World stay will be from August 1 to 3, according to Perry’s Web site.
To read about the history of the situation, click the link above. This story ticked me off when I first heard of it…I’m glad the children are getting a positive experience.
In a statement posted Monday on his Web site, Perry summed up his feelings about the pool situation: “This made me so angry,” he wrote.
“This is awful, and for anyone that has grown up in the inner-city, you know that one small act of kindness can change your life,” he wrote, adding that with the trip to Disney World, “I want them to know that for every act of evil that a few people will throw at you, there are millions more who will do something kind for them. This is all about the kids.”
Well done sir, well done.
Odd!
Don’t ya think it’s rather strange for someone with the name of “4 Christ” to leave a comment that is nothing more than the word ‘anus’, repeatedly? With an insertion of “Idigganus’?
No, if you’re checking, I did not approve your message. If you have something to say, say it, with some intelligence. Please.
Finally!
When I first became aquainted with blogs, I came across From Where I sit, authored by the ever popular, mild mannered ‘Elliot”. Well, he had this link for the first couple of chapters to a book, and I got hooked. I’ve been waiting, like….FOREVER…for him to finish that puppy and get it published. Well, it looks like my wait is over. As of last month, which I wasn’t aware, it was released.
Now, go pick up a copy! From what I read back when, you will NOT be sorry you did!
Update on Old “Joke”
Courtesy of the brat!
Just some history points to brighten your day.
The teacher said, “Let’s begin by reviewing some American History.
Who said ‘Give me Liberty , or give me Death’?”
She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Johnny a bright Navajo Indian boy, who had his hand up: ‘Patrick Henry, 1775′ he said.
‘Very good!’ Who said, ‘Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?’
Again, no response except from Little Johnny, ‘Abraham Lincoln, 1863′.
The teacher snapped at the class, ‘Class, you should be ashamed, Little Johnny knows more about history than you do.’
She heard a loud whisper: ‘Screw the Indians,’
‘Who said that?’ she demanded.
Little Johnny put his hand up, ‘General Custer, 1862.’
At that point, a student in the back said, ‘I’m gonna puke.’
The teacher glares around and asks, ‘All right!!! Now who said that!?’
Again, Little Johnny says, ‘George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991.’
Now furious, another student yells, ‘Oh yeah? Suck this!’
Little Johnny jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher , ‘Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!’
Now with almost mob hysteria someone said ‘You little shit. If you say anything else, I’ll kill you.’
Little Johnny frantically yells at the top of his voice, ‘ Michael Jackson to the child witnesses testifying against him- 2004.’
The teacher fainted.
And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, ‘Oh shit, We’re screwed!’
Little Johnny said quietly, “The American people, November 4, 2008!”
Update From Marsha
Got my email update from my Representative, Marsha Blackburn:
Friends,
Late this afternoon, the Energy and Commerce Committee resumed the markup of the Democrat health care bill. C-SPAN is covering the hearing and I would not be surprised if it goes late into the night. If votes allow, I will be on Fox Business with Neil Cavuto at 5:15 Central time to discuss the bill. The hearing takes place on the same day that this story from CNS news ran illustrating the history of TennCare and how it is similar to the plan before the House now.
More and more of my colleagues are asking me about the TennCare experience. Even Robert Gibbs got a question about it in the White House briefing today. Of course, Gibbs said that state health care plans should not be taken into account when considering the current proposal because they were not implemented to realize a cost savings. Mr. Gibbs is apparently unaware that cost savings are exactly why TennCare was implemented.
I am encouraged that the word is getting out and that more and more of my colleagues have reservations about this bill.
My Best
Marsha
Well, TennCare is not a good example to follow, that’s for sure. An operation that should not have cost more than $10,000 ends up costing more than $17,000 when TennCare is involved. Multiply that by millions, and you get…..ObamaCare! Ta Da!
And Gibbs is still an idjit!
Stimulating?
Will someone please explain to me how repairing a door is stimulating the economy, to the tune of $1,444,100!?!? Oh, yet now I’m hearing that the so called ‘Stimulous Bill” wasn’t intended to stimulate the economy, it was meant to sustain. Give me a flippin’ break. All that tax money isn’t stimulating, or sustaining, diddly! It is, however, causing a great deal of damage to the economy. Let’s face it, Congress, (read Pelosi) lied. Obama lied. But then, that’s what politicians do, right? And the ignorant just blindly follow along. Where are all the new jobs? I’d say the loss of millions of jobs would be a good indication that Obama and Company all have brown eyes. Full of male bovine excrement, don’cha know.
Hey….stimulate THIS! ![]()
“The Morning Bell”
The Obama Economy Is Great…For Washington D.C.
Last week, Michigan’s Bureau of Labor Market Information announced that their state’s unemployment rate spiked in June, hitting 15.2%, the highest rate since mid-1983. Five other states, Rhode Island (12.4%), Oregon (12.2%), South Carolina (12.1%), Nevada (12%), and California (11.6%) all have either matched or surpassed their all time unemployment highs. Nationwide, a total of fifteen states are now suffering from 10% unemployment. The Federal Reserve predicts that double digit unemployment will envelope most of the country later this year.
But despite the weakness of the economy nationwide, one region in the country is doing much better. Compared to the nation 9.5% unemployment average, at 6.2%, the unemployment rate in the Washington D.C. metro region is lower than any other major metropolitan area in the country. And there is no secret about the source of D.C.’s economic strength: the rest of the country’s tax dollars siphoned through the rapidly expanding federal government. Fifteen cents of every dollar the federal government doles out throughout the world is spent in the Washington area. Last year alone, the federal government poured $133 billion into the area making the federal government the source for about one-third of Washington’s $401 billion economy.
And, of course, the size of the federal government is exploding under President Barack Obama. According to the Partnership for Public Service, the federal workforce, currently at 1.9 million, is expected to grow to about 2.1 million during the Obama administration. That is comparable to the staffing level during the Johnson administration’s Great Society programs of the 1960s. And that does not even include the boon in industries that feed off of the trillions of dollars pumping through the federal government. Lawyers, lobbyists, and accountants have all been huge winners in the Obama economy.
The fundamental problem with all of President Obama’s policies: his wasted $787 stimulus bill, his trillion dollar cap and tax energy plan, his trillion dollar health plan, etc., is that none of them work to grow the economy, only redistribute it. So what does make the economy grow? The Heritage Foundation explains:
Importantly, economic growth is not the consequence of government policies or of some master economic plan. It results from millions of people individually seeking what is in their own interests by providing what is in the interests of others, and the collective consequence of their actions is to increase the number of jobs in the economy, the wages earned by workers, and the income and wealth of the nation.
In a free economy, an engineer in California identifies a new technology that increases energy efficiency, brings it to market, and makes millions. In the Obama economy, lobbyists in Washington carve out financial rewards for their corporate clients. In a free economy, a geologist in Houston identifies new energy resources that lower energy costs for everyone and creates thousands of jobs. In the Obama economy, lawyers in Washington find loopholes in thousand page-energy legislation that saves their clients millions. In a free economy, doctors work with patients to choose what medical procedures are best them. In the Obama economy, a single unelected board of bureaucrats decides which procedures will be paid for, and which will not.
President Obama has promised the American people there will be 138.6 million jobs by the end of 2010. He’s currently 4.2 million jobs short. As long as he keeps trying to control the economy by increasing Washington’s power, and wealth, the Obama jobs gap will only grow wider.
I wonder when people will wake up and realize that the change they voted for is not the change they are getting, and change is all they’ll have left in their pockets? Unless those who voted for the clown in chief really don’t want to be personally, responsible, and believe that government can run their lives better than they can? If that’s the case, then why don’t they all just enroll in a daycare center for moronic adults?
Home….Once Again
The last leg of our trip was marred by the inability to get that pecan waffle at Waffle House (they were packed), a waitress where we did go to eat calling us all Boo, an exploding red creme soda, and Ick getting ‘lost’, but other than that, it was a long trip we were all ready to have end at our destination….Podunk, Tennessee.
Ick has a rather colorful commentary on the day, if you’d like to get a few more details.
I did finally get my pecan waffle though, at Huddle House. It was pretty tasty, and I am now a happy camper. Got to sleep in my own bed….like a brick. 8 full hours of non interupted sleep, in my own personal meat locker. The cats were evidently smart enough to realize it would NOT be in their best interest to do any potty paw pokes this morning.
What a Sad Little Man
Losing my religion for equality
Jimmy Carter
Women and girls have been discriminated against for too long in a twisted interpretation of the word of God.
I HAVE been a practising Christian all my life and a deacon and Bible teacher for many years. My faith is a source of strength and comfort to me, as religious beliefs are to hundreds of millions of people around the world. So my decision to sever my ties with the Southern Baptist Convention, after six decades, was painful and difficult. It was, however, an unavoidable decision when the convention’s leaders, quoting a few carefully selected Bible verses and claiming that Eve was created second to Adam and was responsible for original sin, ordained that women must be “subservient” to their husbands and prohibited from serving as deacons, pastors or chaplains in the military service.
Wait a minute. This is the same piece of crap that has been defending the Muslims, praising, sucking up, and generally all around, being a total shithead? That Jimmah Cattah? Give me a flippin’ break! Look up the word ‘dhimmi’, and you’ll find a picture of this sleeze bag! A “practising [sic] Christian” wouldn’t be bowing down to terrorists! I’m not real sure what Bible that man has been reading, but nothing he does says “Christian” to me. Christians support Israel, not her enemies.
Those Muslims he’s so buddy buddy with have a real bad habit of treating women like total garbage, beating, killing, for the slightest perceived ‘insult’, yet he makes a big deal out of the Southern Baptists not having female Deacons? Oh, and I’d suggest he read Genesis 2 for a much needed refresher course. So, good riddance to bad rubbish!

If I agree to slice a three pound frozen ham, will they pay me $2 MILLION?????
The Chadcast: The Cult of Me
In this podcast, the subject is selfishness and human nature. What exactly is selfishness?
Chad makes the point that being selfish means putting your needs before God and others. That is very true. I try to put the needs of God and others before the needs of myself. I consider myself a very generous person – I’m always ready to give someone I care about a helping hand, or the shirt off my back. But – BUT – I’ve learned that a little bit of selfishness is okay. That’s called taking care of myself. If I don’t take care of myself, I can’t be the best mother I can be; I can’t be the best wife I can be; and I can’t be the best friend I can be. The point here, my friends, is balance. Taking care of yourself, so you CAN help others. And yes, he touches on that as well.
Another point is the age of electronics. With all the ways we have to communicate these days, are we or are we not ignoring our real relationships? I’m ashamed to say that I am guilty of that. I have a couple of friends who would go to the ends of the earth for me, as I would for them, but I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t called them in awhile. Well, to be honest, I called one of them today. But that’s because she reached out to me and I was there for her. But weeks shouldn’t go by before I call my best friends. His words made me think about that. Don’t get me wrong – I’ve made some awesome friends as a result of the blogs, Twitter, Facebook, what have you. But those who have been through hell and back with me? I need to get off the damned computer and spend some time with them.
What I took from this podcast is that we need to step back, take a deep breath and consider what is REALLY important in our lives. I know it made me think…I hope it makes you think too.
