It’s About Damned Time!!
Perhaps common sense will prevail? I won’t hold my breath…
On the verge of going bankrupt with an astounding $26.3 billion deficit, the nation’s most populous state is considering saving hundreds of millions of dollars annually by cutting monthly welfare payments to illegal immigrants.
The savings doesn’t even include the billions of dollars that California spends annually to educate, incarcerate and medically treat the 2.7 million illegal aliens (7% of the state’s population) who live in the state that has so generously offered them sanctuary for decades. It turns out that legislators are finally realizing that illegal immigrants are draining their precious Golden State.
That’s why California officials, extremely generous with tax dollars in the past, are trying to find a way to eliminate welfare payments to tens of thousands of illegal immigrants. The move, which has caused outrage among the state’s powerful open borders lobby, would save a much-needed $640 million a year.
Outrage among the open borders lobby? How about the outrage towards these ILLEGAL immigrants who are bankrupting the state, not to mention the rest of the country?? Do these yahoos not realize that we are in the midst of one of the most serious economic meltdowns EVER?? It’s bad enough that the current administration is gonna kill us with socialized healthcare, cap and tax, and whatever else they can think of to spend MY money…I should NOT have to pay for those who shouldn’t be here to begin with.
An example of who the state cuts the monthly checks to is an unemployed 43-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico who gets $650 a month for each of her four children and about $500 in federal food stamps and other vouchers.
WHISKY. TANGO. FOXTROT. Add it up my friends…that’s $2,600 per month PLUS $500 in vouchers. Remind me again why I get up every morning and go to work??? Oh yeah – I believe in WORKING for my keep, not sponging off others.
Its still chump change compared to what the state spends—between $4 billion and $6 billion annually—on schools, jails and hospitals for illegal immigrants. That doesn’t even include other local government costs such as police and fire, road maintenance and other public services.
The biggest chunk—$2.3 billion—goes to educating about 300,000 illegal immigrant children at public schools throughout the state. California expects to spend around $834 million to incarcerate nearly 20,000 illegal aliens in fiscal year 2009-2010 and well over $700 million to medically treat close to 800,000 illegal immigrants.
More than half the healthcare money will go to emergency services but a substantial portion will pay for nonemergency health services such as abortions, prenatal and postpartum care and even nursing homes.
Abortions?? Nursing homes?? Prenatal care?? Oh – you mean the care for those who are having babies so they can collect MORE of my money?? I’m absolutely stunned. Not that I wasn’t aware of this before, but seeing it all laid out is simply nauseating. What the hell is going on in this country when those of us who do the right thing, i.e. pay our bills, do NOT spend beyond our means, and generally take personal responsibility end up being penalized, while those who DO NOT BELONG HERE are sucking us dry??
I hope and pray that common sense will prevail, and the welfare being handed out to those ILLEGALS is stopped. Seriously folks…is there anywhere else one can go, not be a citizen, sit on your ass, and have the government pay you for that privilege?? Good grief – anyone with a lick of sense will see that this is absolutely preposterous.
I think my head has now officially exploded.

Nobody knows for sure what the gunk is, but Petty Officer 1st Class Terry Hasenauer says the Coast Guard is sure what it is not.
“It’s certainly biological,” Hasenauer said. “It’s definitely not an oil product of any kind. It has no characteristics of an oil, or a hazardous substance, for that matter.
“It’s definitely, by the smell and the makeup of it, it’s some sort of naturally occurring organic or otherwise marine organism.”
Something else: No one in Barrow or Wainwright can remember seeing anything like this before, Brower said.
Too weird. Welp, “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Reckon that’s all too true.

We were fairly sure it was premature to declare the death of the Immigration Bill, the last time it was defeated in the Senate. And sure enough, here it comes again. We have no choice but to man the barricades once again.
Isn’t there something very sad (and very telling) when the people of a country have to “force” their own government to respond to the wishes of their people? Isn’t it telling as to how far we have traveled down the road toward “totalitarian government”? Have we learned anything??? I doubt it!
Oh, and there is this: When we say “totalitarian” government these days we mean one of two distinct types of governance: Islamofacist or communist.

Since when is it logical to reward bad behavior? Since we, as a nation, have lost any sense of morality and the LAW! Yeah yeah….. I’m a “racist”! Why? Because I don’t believe people sneaking into my home, eating up my food, spending my money, and trashing the front yard is a positive.

If you aren’t offended by the actions of one feckless man and that trash bunch from the ACLU, then I would invite you to get the hell out of my country! I am so utterly sick and tired of this garbage! This country was founded on Judeo-Christian values. Don’t like it? Tough shit! I’m fed up, and so are a lot of other people! This is a memorial to those who fought and died to keep your sorry ass free to be a jackass. If you can’t honor them without being a total dick, then I’d suggest they let you know, if the bad guys come for you, they are needed, and WANTED, elsewhere, by people who actually appreciate the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make for us, and SHUT THE F**K UP!

Every time a Democrat senator has talked during the Senate hearings on Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor this week, I felt lousy about my country. Not for the usual reasons when a Democrat talks, but because Democrats revel in telling us what a racist country this is.
Interestingly, the Democrats’ examples of ethnic prejudice did not include Clarence Thomas, whose nomination hearings began with the Democrats saying, “You may now uncuff the defendant.”
Their examples did not include Miguel Estrada, the brilliant Harvard-educated lawyer who was blocked from an appellate court judgeship by Senate Democrats expressly on the grounds that he is a Hispanic — as stated in Democratic staff memos that became public.
This is Wrong!!
Not only is this wrong, it’s just plain selfish.
A 72-year-old woman who has already spent $62,000 on fertility treatments in an effort to give birth is about to try again.
If successful with what will be her seventh course of in vitro fertilization, Jenny Brown will become the world’s oldest mother.
The world’s oldest mother was Maria del Carmen Bousada Lara, who gave birth to twin boys seven days before her 67th birthday in 2006. Bousada died Saturday of breast cancer, sparking fears that the disease was triggered by the hormones she used to facilitate her pregnancy.
“Any mother can die at any age,” said Brown, a former academic who has never had a long-term partner. “I hope to live to 100, but I’ll ask one of my younger friends to be a guardian in case.”
Brown, who lives in London, said she had always wanted a child but spent her younger years devoted to academics, achieving degrees in medical sciences and zoology.
“I’d always had it in the back of my mind that when the time was right I’d like to have a child,’ she said. “But my studies meant that children kept getting delayed. The right time finally came in my early 50s and since then I’ve been attempting — and failing — with IVF.”
First of all, if you’ve been trying for that many years and spending that much money and it still hasn’t happened, dontcha think that maybe it’s not meant to be??
Secondly…are you NUTS??? How perfectly selfish can one person be? Say she has a baby while still 72. Can you imagine a 10 year old with an 82 year old mother? If, of course, she’s still alive? Say she lives to be 100 – the child will lose his/her mother before the age of 30. And let’s also think about this…even if she does live a “reasonably long” life, will she be healthy, or will this child have a mother who requires nursing care or some such. This is just ridiculous.
Third, what the HELL kind of doctor would even consider something like this? She’s 72 YEARS OLD!! And yes, I know plenty of folks who at that age are fit and happy, but let’s get serious folks…a 72 year old who thinks she can take care of an infant, a toddler, a pre-teen??
The world has truly gone crazy.

Rep. Blackburn: We’ve Tried Gov’t-Run Health Care Already
Rep. Marsha Blackburn has seen the future of health care in America that the left wants to implement. Blackburn’s home state of Tennessee implemented TennCare, a Medicaid style program in 1994.
The results were predictable.
Employers moved employees onto TennCare because the subsidized public plan appeared to cost less. “As a result of this insurance rates for those who have private coverage were going through the roof,” said Blackburn who spoke at Heritage’s weekly Blogger Briefing today.
Costs rose everywhere, however, not just within the dwindling private sector. “This program started to consume every new dollar that was generated in the state,” said Blackburn. The budget-busting program grew at a 1.5-percent annual rate, with costs skyrocketing from $2.5 billion in 1995 to $8 billion by 2004. “[Supporters] were willing to guarantee that it would save money – and it ends up eating 38% of the state’s budget.”
When costs explode in a public plan there’s only one thing to do: ration health care. We reported on TennCare’s problems back in 2000.
Chronically low reimbursement rates for doctors and hospitals have led to rationed care, which means less care in most cases.
A March 1999 actuarial review by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that managed care organizations reimbursed providers at a rate of about $11 per member per month (about 10 percent) below what would be considered an “actuarially sound” level.
“There is no example that you can point to that shows where having private insurance in competition with the public option brings the costs down. It leads to exploding costs,” said Blackburn.
We live in an area of Tennessee where private doctors are pretty hard to find. One of the first things old people when moving to a new area, is search out a ‘family doctor. Well, I did some searching alright! We’re now on our third, and she’s a nurse practitioner, who is terrific, but no where near as good as the one I had in Wisconsin, who was unbelievably thorough.
The first place I went to was so incompetent, returning phone calls was an unknown. When I called them complaining of chest pains, they told me to drive myself to the hospital. I got to the hospital ok, but was seriously chewed out for not calling 911. Well, I called my so called doctor, didn’t I? Why didn’t she call them, or tell me call them right away?
The second place was better, but the wait time was in the hours range, not minutes. I went with the same complaints that ended up getting me this mp3 player for my ticker, yet at the time, he told me I probably had Lou Gehrig’s. Nice, eh? Obviously, I didn’t.
What do these two places have in common? TennCare! NO, we do NOT need government run health care!

Ok, some people might think I’m obsessed with this cat, Rocky MOOSE. I dress him in antlers and scarfs and such at Christmas, much to Ick’s chagrin. Well, perhaps I am. This is one BIG cat, and it’s fascinating to me that he is even able to walk half the time, much less jump up on the bed. Heh.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the State Department will pass judgment on the United States in the same way it judges foreign countries when the department issues its next annual report on victims of global human trafficking.
And once again, the moonbat crowds go wild at the idea of the “blame America first” administration.
At a “town hall meeting” with State Department employees on Friday, Secretary Clinton said that when the department does its report for 2010, it will judge the performance of the U.S. government in combating human trafficking and give it a rank in the “tiers” that apply to foreign countries.
She said she believes this will increase U.S. “credibility.”
Right now, I have numerous four….and five lettered words running through my head in response to her asinine comment.
Mrs. Clinton’s revelation that the State Department would do this came in response to a question submitted by a town hall participant named Tommye Grant.
“Border security is a top priority, yet I am not sure how State fits into the overall plan to combat illegal trafficking in drugs, humans, and the travel of terrorists,” said Grant. “What are we doing now, and what are our plans in the future?”
“Well, we’re doing a lot, and I would hope that–was it Tommye? I hope that Tommye would get a copy of our TIPs report, the Trafficking in Persons Report that has just come out, which is the definitive analysis of what’s happening with the trafficking of persons around the world,” said Clinton.
Are you freakin’ kidding me? You people aren’t doing DICK! Bush didn’t do DICK to secure out borders and stop the ILLEGALS and ‘human trafficing’, and you ain’t either! Matter of fact, I don’t see any difference. Y’all are just as bad, if not a WHOLE lot worse on the issue. The solution is REAL simple: Close the freakin’ borders, kick the sumsabitches out, and start enforcing the damn laws!

There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America’s unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won’t bring jobs. Our nation’s debt is unsustainable, and the federal government’s reach into the private sector is unprecedented.
Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:
I am deeply concerned about President Obama’s cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

Citizens are now working hard every day, to feed a beast of her own creation – the ever voracious Federal Government. The beast must be slayed, so that life in the villages will return to normal, and citizens will no longer have to fear success. We can return to the foundations of our nation as a republic, and those who would take our freedoms from us will NOT prevail.
