Quangos blackball … oops, sorry … veto ‘racist’ everyday phrases
Dozens of quangos and taxpayer-funded organisations have ordered a purge of common words and phrases so as not to cause offence.
Among the everyday sayings that have been quietly dropped in a bid to stamp out racism and sexism are “whiter than white”, “gentleman’s agreement”, “black mark” and “right-hand man”.
The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission has advised staff to replace the phrase “black day” with “miserable day”, according to documents released under freedom of information rules.
Dozens of quangos and taxpayer-funded organisations have ordered a purge of common words and phrases so as not to cause offence.
In other words, large piles of bovine excrement!
It points out that certain words carry with them a “hierarchical valuation of skin colour”. The commission even urges employees to be mindful of the term “ethnic minority” because it can imply “something smaller and less important”.
On what planet do these morons reside? As a woman, I have NO problem with the term “gentleman’s agreement”. The meaning is quite clear, and if these yahoos can’t figure it out, I’m fairly sure they’ve never entered into such an agreement.
Advice issued by the South West Regional Development Agency states: “Terms such as ‘black sheep of the family’, ‘black looks’ and ‘black mark’ have no direct link to skin colour but potentially serve to reinforce a negative view of all things black. Equally, certain terms imply a negative image of ‘black’ by reinforcing the positive aspects of white.
Hey! I’ve got an idea! Let’s just make everything the same color….clothes, eyes, skin, etc., and we can all be exactly the same….just like in the movie 1984, with John Hurt.
“For example, in the context of being above suspicion, the phrase ‘whiter than white’ is often used. Purer than pure or cleaner than clean are alternatives which do not infer that anything other than white should be regarded with suspicion.”
Ever hear of Clorox over there in loony tune land?
Marie Clair, spokeswoman for the Plain English Campaign, said: “Political correctness has good intentions but things can be taken to an extreme. What is really needed is a bit of common sense.”
Gee….y’think???? What a novel concept! You folks over there in GB have my sympathy. First your country has been over run by people who want to kill you, encouraged by your government, now you aren’t allowed to speak at all. Yep….totally off the deep end. What would ya call this?

Obama’s Plan to Desecrate 9/11
By Matthew Vadum
The Obama White House is behind a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert Sept. 11 into a day of leftist celebration and statist idolatry.
This effort to reshape the American psyche has nothing to do with healing the nation and everything to do with easing the nation along in the ongoing radical transformation of America that President Obama promised during last year’s election campaign. The president signed into law a measure in April that designated Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service, but it’s not likely many lawmakers thought this meant that day was going to be turned into a celebration of ethanol, carbon emission controls, and radical community organizing.
The administration’s plans were outlined in an Aug. 11 White House-sponsored teleconference call run by Obama ally Lennox Yearwood, president of the Hip Hop Caucus, and Liv Havstad, the group’s senior vice president of strategic partnerships and programs.
Yearwood, who uses the honorific “Reverend” before his name, has been in the news in recent years, usually for getting arrested. After Democrats took back Congress, the rowdy activist was handcuffed outside a congressional hearing in September 2007 when Gen. David Petraeus was to testify. Yearwood told the “Democracy Now” radio program that he wanted to attend the hearing to hear Petraeus give his report. “I knew that when officers lie, soldiers die,” he said.
What the hell is the matter with these people???? I am just at a lost for any explanation for this kind of garbage!
Blogging and Bloggers
One of the first things I learned way back when I first started blogging, if you snag something from another blog, ALWAYS give credit to the one where you first came across the item. If you swipe a ‘toon, or picture or some such, you say so, and from where ya got it. If you find an story on another blog, ALWAYS give a H/T (hat tip) to the blog where you found it, even if you give a news story your own spin.
Fellow blogger, Dr Dave, king of snark, has had one of his original posts snapped up by another blogger, with NO recognition of his hard work. This is wrong! Completely, and totally, wrong! If you want to pass something around as an email, make sure you include the link where you found it! It’s called common courtesy. I don’t care if “everyone does it”. Wrong is wrong!
And that’s my 2 cents!

Your taxes to pay for abortions
President Obama isn’t being straight when he says current health care proposals don’t provide government funding for abortion. They do. If Democratic plans are passed, your taxes will pay for abortions.
In an Aug. 19 conference call sponsored by the liberal group 40 Days for Health Reform, Mr. Obama accused his opponents of “bearing false witness” and of “divisive and deceptive attacks” on a whole host of claims about the various health bills backed by congressional Democratic leaders. A number of the president’s counterclaims were dubious, but his most demonstrably false statement was: “You’ve heard that this is all going to mean government funding of abortion. Not true.”
Even Satan can quote scripture.
That’s not what Associated Press reports. On Aug. 5, an AP story was headlined “Gov’t insurance would allow coverage for abortion.” There’s no wiggle room in that headline – or in the legislation. As AP reported: “Since abortion is a legal medical procedure, experts on both sides say not mentioning it would allow health care plans in the new insurance exchange to provide unrestricted coverage…. In the Senate, the plan passed by the health committee is still largely silent on the abortion issue. Staff aides confirmed that the public plan — and private insurance offered in the exchange — would be allowed to cover abortion, without funding restrictions…. Abortion opponents are seeking a prohibition against using any federal subsidies to pay for abortions or for any part of any costs of a health plan that offers abortion. Such a proposal was rejected by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.”
(emphasis mine) In other words, perhaps he hasn’t got a clue what is in that bill? Or, maybe he knows, but he is doing what he does quite well…..LYING!
This matter of abortion coverage is of utmost importance. For decades, polls have shown that overwhelming majorities of Americans oppose public (taxpayer) funding of abortions even if many of those same Americans support keeping abortion a legal option. Even for many who are pro-choice, it is one thing to allow somebody to procure an abortion. It is quite another for the federal government to coerce everybody to pay taxes or fees for another person to procure what many consider to be a grave moral evil.
Do you ever get the impression that this administration, and a vast majority of Congress don’t give a flying flip what the majority of Americans want, or don’t want? Sure does seem that way, doesn’t it.
President Obama is wrong to promote any plan that provides public subsidies for abortion. No amount of dissembling can cover up the repellent reality of what’s in current health care legislation.
Yep, those ‘facts’ are extremely inconvenient, aren’t they.

Myths and Facts about Obamacare
Last week NBC News released a poll showing that while 36% of Americans believed President Barack Obama’s health care plan was a “good idea,” 42% of Americans believed it was a “bad idea.” NBC’s explanation for this inconvenient truth? “[M]isperceptions about the president’s plans for reform … that nonpartisan fact-checkers say are untrue.” Specifically NBC found that 55% of Americans believed Obamacare “will give health insurance coverage to illegal immigrants,” 54% believed it “will lead to a government takeover of the health care system,” 50% believed it “will use taxpayer dollars to pay for women to have abortions,” and 45% believed it “will allow the government to make decisions about when to stop providing medical care to the elderly.”
The President has since copied NBC’s diagnosis, devoting his Saturday Weekly Address to debunking these “phony claims.” The problem for NBC News, and the White House, is that every one of these concerns has rock solid foundation in fact.
The Demise of a Once Great Nation
So… How’s He Doing??? HUH???
by J.D. Longstreet
Just a snippet:
Awful! Just awful! That’s how he is doing!
In a few short months, just over half a year in office, Obama has managed to wreck the economy, and lay an unspeakable tax burden on our children, our grandchildren, and quite possibly – our great-grandchildren, as well.
Obama, in league with Pelosi and Reid and their fellow socialists in the US Congress, have sure as heck brought change, all right! Boy, have they EVER!
As we look back over the past seven months, now, we can see the devastation left in the wake of the liberal/socialist/”progressive” battlestar as it smashed its way through an unsuspecting America looting the treasury as it went.
Why, just look at the money the Obama government has spent! Worse even than the squandered money is the power they have accrued unto themselves. As they repealed welfare reform and scared the American people half to death with their manic drive to chain America’s sick and elderly to a socialized form of healthcare we Americans don’t want and forcing worried American citizens to take to the streets of the capital city in a mass protest scheduled for September 12th.

It never ceases to amaze me when I hear Dems/libs talking about what a wonderful job this administration is doing. It’s absolutely jaw dropping. Contrary to what some may think, I haven’t put shellac on my point of view. Although, there are some things set in stone, literally, I am quite capable of listening to varying point of views, and even learn from them. Well, occasionally.
What I have witnessed in the last two years of Bush’s administration, albeit at a much slow pace, and what I’ve been witnessing since 20 January, has been just mind boggling. I had hoped that reality would have set in by now with the Obama/Pelosi/Reid “kook aid” crowd, but sadly, many still are wearing their blinders, stumbling around, expecting The ONE to guide them. Sad. And devastating for the entire nation.

Mercury union overwhelmingly rejects contract changes
By a “wide margin” more than 800 union employees have said “no” to a final contract proposal offered by Mercury Marine.
Specific numbers were not released by union officials early this afternoon.
The vote this morning has followed weeks of negotiations that culminated Thursday when company officials said a “yes” vote by the union would keep the company in Fond du Lac and a “no” vote would move the company to consolidate operations in Stillwater, Okla.
Late last week, company officials said the deadline for a final decision from the union is later this week, leaving the door open for another vote by union members.
“Obviously we are extremely disappointed in the outcome of the vote,” said Joe Reitemeier, president and CEO of the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce, shortly after hearing the results of this morning’s vote.
The results were released about 12:15 p.m.

Mercury says manufacturing operations will leave FDL in 2 to 3 years
Following a union vote this morning to reject contract changes that company officials say would have kept Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, Mercury Marine issued the following statement:
“Union workers at Mercury Marine voted this morning to reject a contract proposal that company officials said was necessary to keep Mercury in Fond du Lac.
“Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers – the union that represents production workers at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac – met at Fond du Lac High School at 9 a.m. today to cast ballots that were later tallied at the headquarters of the IAMAW Local chapter 1947.
“The proposal, which was presented to the union Aug. 19, is valid until Aug. 29 at midnight. The union leadership chose to accelerate the vote to Aug. 23.
“Mercury said it will continue to operate the Fond du Lac facility under the terms and conditions of the existing contract, which expires in 2012.

I wonder if you can figure out the connection here. Let’s see, we have a union, with no regard for the financial situation of the company for which they work. And we have a company that is going to pick up and leave an area where they have been, well, almost forever, and move the whole shebang to a different state, a “RIGHT TO WORK” state. Whatever can be the connection? Hmmmm…..
I guess all those union members who voted “NO” would rather not have a job at all, and sure didn’t care how this is going to affect the entire city, and county of Fond du Lac…..not to mention the surrounding areas, and the entire state.
Way to go! Hope y’all are really happy now. When you find yourselves unable to provide for your families, will you still be so sure the union has your best interest in mind?

A dread disease, no known cure
by Wesley Pruden
Somewhere betwixt swine and swindle, we’ve got a flu crisis. Well, maybe not a real crisis, or even a semi-convincing phony crisis, but the government is working on it. What we have, actually, is a crisis of hysteria promoted in certain government precincts.
Swine flu, even with its scientific-sounding new name, H1N1, has only disappointed the crisis-mongers since it was identified in the spring. The virus sprang from Mexico, currently regarded as the source of everything bad or even suspicious, and it quickly jumped the Rio Grande. Then, after a fortnight in the petri dish of the mainstream media, leaped across the Atlantic.
A virus that could swim a salty ocean would certainly be enough to kill us all quicker than a federal bureaucrat could say AIDS, or SARS, bird flu, Hong Kong flu, killer tomatoes, poisoned peanut butter, global warming or strangulation by kudzu, earlier doomsday threats to the planet. By early summer, even a polite cough or an innocent sneeze was reason enough to call the undertaker to reserve a comfortable coffin. Then, probably due to media inattention, flu subsided to 11th place on one pollster’s list of things Americans worry about.
