An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

This past weekend, I attended a couple of very informative events held in Nashville. Out of complete curiosity, when I got home, I decided to snoop The Tennessean to see what they had to say about the events. Imagine my shock and surprise (insert massive sarcasm here) when I couldn’t find one single word about either the Smart Girl Politics Summit 2009, that brought to town 3 fairly big names, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Liz Cheney, and Michelle Malkin, or RootsHQ 2009/American Liberty Tour that had names like Joe the Plumber, Lloyd Marcus, Eric Odom, and our very own Ken Marrero, among others. If you can find ANYTHING in that rag that refers to these events, I’d sure like to see ‘em.
Newspapers no longer report the news, so why would anyone want to help them financially? With OUR money! Let them die a painful death!
I’m an avid reader. That’s a fact! I’m also an extremely slow reader, not because I actually read slowly, but because I tend to fall asleep when I am reading, so it takes me a while to get through a book.
Many moons ago, when I came across a particular blog, there were links to the first few chapters to a book the author of the blogs and his alter ego, was writing. Well, not all that long ago, the book was finally released! FINALLY! (could have grown extremely old, waiting)
Well, I finally finished the book, and wanted to share. READ THIS BOOK! As Caughill says, it’s not pro- or anti-abortion….it’s definitely pro-thought!
I congratulate Michael, and Elliott, for such a great read. Looking forward to the sequel! And make it snappy!
I didn’t think it was possible for these people to be any more clueless, or classless, but this really takes the cake!
This afternoon the President and First Lady Mrs. O attended a Medal of Honor ceremony for U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti who was killed in Afghanistan in June 2006. For the occasion, Mrs. O debuted a new floral frock in a bold, red rose print, accessorized with green kitten heels and chandelier earrings. (source)
Can you imagine the reaction if “First Lady Mrs. B” had worn such a ……ummm….. LOUD dress for such a solemn occasion????
H/T: Hot Air
Get yours here.
Oh, and while you looking at stuff, take a gander at this for a serious chuckle! Heh.
After 2 absolutely fabulous days, I finally got to sit and down go through my emails. Hint: Do NOT let your emails go for 3 days! Do you know how long it takes to go through over 300 emails? Sad to say, I HAD to delete quite a few cuz there was NO way I’d ever get through them all. Don’t think there was anything extremely important though, so it should be ok……I hope!
I finally got my pictures transferred from my camera to the computer. I’m extremely annoyed that anytime I zoom in, they get REALLY dark. I have no idea how to fix that problem. Oh well, maybe someday, I’ll get technical, but I wouldn’t count on it.
Anyways…..these pictures are from Friday’s events(18th). If I had been able to see straight last night, I could have managed to take some time to at least get them on the computer. You have NO idea how tired I was….with good reason.
Now, I don’t care what you think about this guy, but I have to tell you, he was one of the nicest guys I’ve met in a long time. He never asked to be shoved into the limelight, but from as best I can tell, he’s handling it quite well. He stood around and talked with us for quite a while.
I don’t know. Is it me, or does Dan and Joe look a bit fuzzy? Granted I’m seeing just about fuzzy right now, but hey….it’s not suppose to translate to the actual picture….is it?
A few hours ago, I could have told you her name, but considering it’s way past my bedtime, and the gray cells have already gone to sleep… Someone help me out here! (Ooops…sorry Julia! Thanks to Deirdre for setting me straight!)
I snuck out before the forum was over to head back to my motel room for some much needed down time, and to change clothes for the cocktail party. No one told me I could have worn jeans. Oh well.
Folks waiting in line to get their books signed by Michelle.
Problem is, they didn’t have any munchies! So, instead of using my brain, and coming back to my room to hit the sack, I joined about 20 other ladies for dinner at the Stock-Yard Steakhouse.
I’ll be perfectly honest, this place may be one of the “top ten steakhouses”, but I’ve definitely had better, and CHEAPER! Sheesh! They think VERY highly of their meat!
Today was another great day with even more like minded folks at RootsHQ2009. They had held a rally while we were munching beef with American Liberty Tour. I would have liked to have gone, but we thought it was already over, and besides, sparkly duds and rallies don’t typically go together. I heard there were 3000 folks there.
I gotta tell ya, we had a great time with these guys! But it occurred to me, I only took ONE picture all day!
After listening to such great speakers, like Eric Erickson, Ken Marero, Caleb Howe, David Hinz, Corie Whalen, Steven Foley, Eric Odom, William Owens, Jr., and a few others, I am MORE determined now not to let our country go down the drain, which is where the liberals would like to see her….in the sewers.
It was an honor to meet new friends, and see ‘old’ ones. Let’s do this again soon!
