A Piece of History

28 September 2009, 5:39 pm. 1 Comment. Filed under History.

Today is the 66th anniversary of the rescue of the Danish Jews.

If you don’t know the story, let me sum it up for you: at the end of August, 1943 the country of Denmark was finally fully taken over by Nazi Germany. This meant, among other things, that the Jewish population of Denmark (roughly 8,000) was now in deadly danger: the Danish government had been, up to that point, politely, respectfully, and absolutely inflexibly refusing to allow Nazi Germany to persecute its Jewish citizens. While the story that the King of Denmark himself wore the yellow star is not true, what is true is that no Danish Jew did – and if you think that this is a minor point, well, no, it’s not: things like the star were the tools used to isolate Jews from the larger community, thus making it possible to go on with sequestering them into ghettos, then taking them away to be murdered.

Read the rest here.

While I was reading this, a thought kept going through my head…..would we, in today’s world, be as strong as the Danes were then?  Some might, but as a nation, I have my doubts.  And I seriously doubt that Obama would stand up against such odds.

I know I’m late on this, but I thought, under the circumstances of this post….

Just A Few Thoughts For Monday

28 September 2009, 2:46 pm. 2 Comments. Filed under Feckless Weasels, General News, Opinion.

I seriously think that the federal gubmint needs to be featured on the new SoapNet show, Bank of Mom and Dad.  It’s obvious they no more know how to live within a budget than a spoiled rotten 3 year old.

Everything this administration, and Congress, does,  points more and more in the direction of tyranny.  The arrogance of politicians, and the feckless eco-nazis really believe they have any control over this planet, and what it does?  Give me a freakin’ break!

Looks like the state of New York is learning the hard way!  You shaft the wealthy, they’re going to shaft you right back.  Hint:  Lower taxes, more business.  More business, more in tax revenue.  If I figured this out in my teens, you’d think that folks with big time college degrees could figure it out too.  :?

Not all Chicagoans are all hyped up about having the Olympics invade their home town.  But that won’t stop the Obamas from heading over to Copenhagen, on the taxpayers dime….naturally, to push to put that city into debt.

Link: Chicagoans for Rio

Guess some folks don’t believe in freedom of speech, or the press anymore though.

And, hey!  Let’s not forget about a so called health care bill that is being shoved down our throats that will put people in jail for NOT buying their BS!

Criminy!  How could I have forgotten about this little tidbit about one of Obama’s czars?  Just who the hell is in charge?  If this is the kind of people he associates with, praises, and puts in a position of power, I’d like to know just how in the world could he have ever been thought good POTUS material?!?  Is this the hopey/changey you were expecting?

Where Is The Justice For Matt?

27 September 2009, 10:41 pm. 4 Comments. Filed under Crime.

I’m very annoyed, for a couple of reasons.  first, I’m suppose to get alerts whenever something new comes online about my friend’s son’s murder.  I’m not.  Second, is this:

Conspiracy charge is out but murder charges remain in Toste case

A Sonoma County judge on Wednesday dismissed conspiracy charges against five men accused of murdering a man in a downtown Santa Rosa parking garage in 2006, ruling that prosecutors presented inadmissible evidence to a grand jury in violation of the defendants’ rights.

But Judge Lawrence Antolini’s split ruling upheld the remaining four felony counts – including murder, weapons and gang allegations – against the men charged with shooting Matthew Toste in a Seventh Street parking garage on Dec. 3, 2006.

No, I’m not annoyed that they decided to drop the conspiracy charge. When it comes to legal finagling, lawyers and courts do all kinds of odd dances that, to us non-legal minds, make absolutely no sense. No, what is SERIOUSLY chapping my hide is this…..

Prosecutors allege the men are gang members and committed the murder to benefit their gang, charges that can add significant prison time of they are convicted. The men face life prison sentences if found guilty of the charges.

Excuse me?  First off, why, if convicted, will these scum be getting 3 squares and a roof over their heads, instead of rotting in hell?  All at the taxpayers expense?  They MURDERED a young man!  One who was raising his son, working, paying taxes, loving his mom, his dad, his sister, his brother, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.  Why does this trash get to live when Matt can’t?  Why will their families get to come visit them, when the only way Sally gets to see her son is through pictures, and talking to a gravestone?   Where is the justice??????

Will Obama Answers THESE Questions?

The Un-Aborted Obama
by Mike Adams

Hello Barry. I’ve decided to write you a few questions in response to the unsolicited emails I keep getting from BarackObama.com. Since most of your form emails concern health care I’ll confine most of my questions to one health-related subject: Abortion.

1. Did you know that about 150 young black people were admitted to Howard University School of Law this year? But, unfortunately, about 1370 black babies were aborted today. How can we effect “social justice” if the health profession kills far more blacks than the legal profession is currently accepting into its ranks?

2. Isn’t abortion sort of like liberalism in a nutshell? It’s just a way of asking others to suffer the consequences of your own bad decisions.

3. Doctors are supposed to save lives and not take them. Shouldn’t abortion doctors then be required to take the hypocritical oath?

More school: Obama would curtail summer vacation

Students beware: The summer vacation you just enjoyed could be sharply curtailed if President Barack Obama gets his way.

Obama says American kids spend too little time in school, putting them at a disadvantage with other students around the globe.

“Now, I know longer school days and school years are not wildly popular ideas,” the president said earlier this year. “Not with Malia and Sasha, not in my family, and probably not in yours. But the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom.”

Kids don’t need more quantity…..they need more QUALITY! We use to have a great education system, that actually taught kids the basics, AND advanced their knowledge of the country’s history, how to be a good citizen, and sciences. Now? We get morons coming out with a degree, and a large number of them don’t even know the name of the current VP! How pathetic is that? But they sure do know Obama’s name, don’t they. :?

Obama and Duncan say kids in the United States need more school because kids in other nations have more school.

“Young people in other countries are going to school 25, 30 percent longer than our students here,” Duncan told the AP. “I want to just level the playing field.”

While it is true that kids in many other countries have more school days, it’s not true they all spend more time in school.

Kids in the U.S. spend more hours in school (1,146 instructional hours per year) than do kids in the Asian countries that persistently outscore the U.S. on math and science tests—Singapore (903), Taiwan (1,050), Japan (1,005) and Hong Kong (1,013). That is despite the fact that Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong have longer school years (190 to 201 days) than does the U.S. (180 days).

I don’t suppose it has occurred to anyone that the reason our kids are lagging behind other nations in math and science is because we can’t fire crappy teachers?  There is no merit pay, so why should teachers get serious about, well…..TEACHING!?!?  As for the number of days….have you ever noticed how many days are listed as “professional development”, or teacher work days, or some such depending on where you live.  Take a gander at the calendar for our little Hardin County High School.  Breaks here, breaks there…..for what?  Just cuz, as best I can tell.  Now, if you are in my age range, you’ll remember that we had set days for ‘vacations”.  We didn’t have ‘fall break”.  We didn’t get out for Lincoln’s or Washington’s birthdays.  There was no such thing as MLK Day, and we sure wouldn’t have been let out.  We never went back to school until AFTER Labor Day.  We had a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving.  We had 2 weeks for Christmas (not winter break).  I seem to remember one day off for a teacher’s work day.  Then we had EASTER break, which included Good Friday, not spring break!  And we continued in school, Monday through Friday, until the second Wednesday in June.  Now days, it seems kids get 3 day weekends on a regular basis.  Why?  Do the teachers not have kids that NEED an education?  So many breaks, and one starts to wonder….what is the purpose of having a school year?  Why do kids even bother?  Especially considering the lack of education they are receiving.

I also know there are some darn good teachers too, but how long do they last in today’s environment? A few years? Maybe a decade, if they can stand it that long. They want to teach, but are stifled by the ‘powers that be’. Don’t get me wrong!  I am a strong believer in education.  REAL education!  What passes as education these days is a poor shadow of what once was.

“Those hours from 3 o’clock to 7 o’clock are times of high anxiety for parents,” Duncan said. “They want their children safe. Families are working one and two and three jobs now to make ends meet and to keep food on the table.”

I know it’s silly, but maybe folks should start worrying more about what is going into their kids brains, instead of what name brand shod their feet, or the latest video game to impress their buds. Call me a sexist, but unless absolutely necessary, at least one parent should be at home when their gets walk in the door from school. But that’s just me.

I could go on, but I’ll refrain.  Suffice it to say that productivity goes down, not up, when a person is forced into ‘labor’.  Kids are NOT going to be more productive (learn more).  I’d make a sure bet there will be MORE problems with discipline as well.

Oh yeah, and then there’s this.  You know all those jobs that supposedly Americans won’t do, so we have to have millions upon millions of illegals come in to do them?  Well, guess what!  With the lack of education, kids will be lining up for those jobs now, in order to eat, put a roof over their heads, and take care of the babies so many seem to think of as a status symbol thanks to those institutions they claim are schools.

I just had to add this video:

STOP THE SPENDING!

The Republicans complain about the out of control spending. The Democrats spout the Republicans did it, so…. The truth is, neither party seems to realize….IT’S NOT THEIR MONEY they are footloose and fancy free with, so they BOTH spend like ‘drunken sailors’.

To quote Toni, from her post: We can only turn this country and our economy around if Americans decide that liberty and freedom are worth more than subservience to a government that thinks they know better how you should live and work your life.

Cops, deputies warned again about right-wing ‘terrorists’

A private activist organization apparently is picking up where the federal government left off when the Department of Homeland Security issued its “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” warning that returning veterans and people in a long list of other categories were potential terrorists.

Only the new warning, delivered recently to police officers, sheriffs and other law enforcement personnel across the country, is lumping those dedicated to the constitutional principles on which the nation was founded together with crazed killers.

Do you ever wonder what kind of mind comes up with these kinds of things? I honestly find it difficult to believe that the police, who took an oath to ‘protect and defend’ would buy into such blatant leftist propaganda! I would hope they could tell the difference between those who would uphold the Constitution, and those who would destroy it.

The fall 2009 “Intelligence Report” was issued recently by the Southern Poverty Law Center, where officials confirmed to WND it was published specifically for and delivered to law enforcement personnel across the nation. The SPLC did not respond to a WND request for other comment.

There in lies the problem. The SPLC really has nothing to do with poverty, or the law. It is a left wing organization hell bent on destroying what all Americans SHOULD hold dear, but so many these days do not, through utter ignorance, or complete disregard of the truth.

But the article groups members of various organizations such as Oathkeepers – whose mainly military and law enforcement members pledge to uphold their constitutional duties, including the duty to question and refuse what appear to be illegitimate orders – with a man “said to be interested in joining a militia” who is accused of killing two deputies in Florida.

I would think that SPLC would be more appreciative of those who have fought for their right to be idiots, who protect them from the bad guys on the streets, and will save their homes should the occasion arise. But no, they have decided that anyone who has worn a uniform, and still holds their oath dear, are the ‘enemy’. Oh, I guess they are lumping me in that group as well, since I stood up and repeated the oath with several hundred men and women, current military, veterans, police, firemen, and others from all walks of life.

The warning from the SPLC echoes the alarmism from the earlier federal report. WND has posted the report online.

It warned of potential terrorism threats from those who:

* Oppose abortion

* Are returning veterans

* Oppose same-sex marriage

* Oppose restrictions on firearms

* Oppose lax immigration laws

* Oppose the policies of President Obama regarding immigration, citizenship, and the expansion of social programs

* Oppose continuation of free trade agreements

* Are suspect of foreign regimes

* Fear Communist regimes

* Oppose a “one world” government

* Bemoan the decline of U.S. stature in the world

* Are upset with loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs to China and India, and more

Yeah, Nepalitano got around to apologizing to the vets, but what about the rest of us?  I “score” 100% on their ‘test’.  Yep, I’m guilty!

Under the headline “Going Feral,” the SPLC warning to police quotes personalities such as Fox News host Glenn Beck, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann and actor Chuck Norris.

“It’s like Thomas Jefferson said, a revolution every now and then is a good thing. We are at the point … of revolution. And by that, what I mean [is] an orderly revolution, where the people of this country wake up and get up and make a decision that this is not going to happen on their watch,” the warning quoted Bachmann, R-Minn., saying.

Accurate. We have gone so far from our REAL roots, our foundation, I’m inclined to agree with Rep. Bachmann. Our current government has NO resemblance to what the Founding Fathers envisioned with the introduction of the Constitution of the United States. Perhaps it is past time to inform those in D.C. of our intent to retake our country? Naw…I think they know.
