Liberal Lies About National Health Care, Part 5
by Ann Coulter

(15) Democrats lost Congress in 1994 because President Clinton failed to pass national health care.

I’m not sure if this is another example of the left’s wishful-thinking method of analysis or if they’re seriously trying to trick the Blue Dog Democrats into believing it. But I gather liberals consider the 1994 argument an important point because it was on the front page of The New York Times a few weeks ago in place of a story about Van Jones or ACORN.

According to a news story by Jackie Calmes: “In 1994, Democrats’ dysfunction over fulfilling a new president’s campaign promise contributed to the party’s loss of its 40-year dominance of Congress.”

That’s not the way I remember it. The way I remember it, Republicans swept Congress in 1994 not because Clinton failed to nationalize health care, but because he tried to nationalize health care. HillaryCare failed because most Americans didn’t want it. (For more on this, see “ObamaCare.”)

An Apology

I, as a natural born citizen of the United States of America, would like to offer my most sincere, and heartfelt, apology to the people of the State of Israel for the current occupant of the Oval Office.  I would like you to know that I, and many millions of others, in NO  way support his words or actions, especially when it comes to your country.

I am embarrassed that 52% of the American voters felt that this incompetent child would be a good idea as President of the United States.

Shared Words

22 September 2009, 9:48 pm. 2 Comments. Filed under Friends & Family.

You might remember when I posted about the death of my friend, Viola “Ole” Sheppard.  Her granddaughter, Holly, has a guest column in the Fond du Lac Reporter.

In memory of my grandma, I would like to share excerpts of an essay called “Americanism” that she wrote while a 17-year-old junior at Watertown High in 1941.

Holly speaks beautifully of her grandmother, but what I’d like share is Miss Ole’s own words from that long ago time.

How much Americanism means to us! How much more that cannot be expressed in such simplicity of language! It means our very way of living.

To wake up in the morning, sparkling with a zest for life, free from any fear of oppression, privileged to live our lives as we choose; to worship God according to our own convictions, conscious that this is the right for which our forefathers fought long and hard, the sacred heritage they left to us to perpetuate and to defend; to go to school deeply grateful for this, our most precious privilege as Americans; to work and to be able to reap the benefits of our toils for our own betterment and comfort: these and many more are the real meaning of Americanism to us.

Thus we are aware of these great benefits of Americanism as we think of the present and look back on the past; but as we look to the future, a new and deeper meaning confronts us.

Americanism means a challenge! A challenge to defend democracy in the present world crisis, a challenge to the character, the courage, and ideals of every true-hearted American!

Now, if ever, we must speed Americanism into action. In the tremendous defense effort we are making today, we are proving to ourselves, to the entire world, and to posterity that democracy can work!

We must continue that effort; and we must be successful in that effort, for on our success depends the preservation and the future of our democratic ideals — our Americanism!

May we all remember these words.

Obama goes wobbly on Afghanistan

It astonishes us how quickly Afghanistan is moving from being a “war of necessity” to “too tough to do.” President Obama’s comments over the weekend gave the clearest signal yet that his administration is seeking an exit strategy from a conflict he described in August as “not only a war worth fighting” but “fundamental to the defense of our people.” Commitment to that fundamental defense is eroding.

The president is being foiled by complex terrain, by which we mean the Congress. The Democratic leadership has indicated it would not look favorably on requests for more troops, which most analysts believe are necessary to stabilize the situation.

Seriously, what did we expect from such an incompetent! If you had any doubts whatsoever about Obama’s ability to lead, or I should say…INABILITY, this should erase them. It’s quite obvious that the only thing he gives two flips about is his corrupt buds. He has no intention of keeping this nation safe in the WAR ON TERROR. He never had any intention of winning the war in Afghanistan, and sure as hell doesn’t care what is happening to our brave men and women on the ground, giving their best, and more and more, their ALL. As evidenced from his recent knife in the back of our allies in Eastern Europe, not only is Barack H. Obama, inexperienced in the art of leadership, he is also dangerous to this nation.

Rather than follow the conclusions of the most comprehensive review of the Afghan situation to date, the White House is trying to redefine the mission. “You don’t make decisions about resources,” Mr. Obama warned, “before you have the strategy right.”

Yet his strategy is already being implemented. Bob Schieffer of CBS News reminded the president that he rolled out a new plan on March 27. At the time, Mr. Obama called it a “comprehensive new strategy for Afghanistan [and] Pakistan” that was “the conclusion of careful policy review” that the president said he ordered “as soon as [he] took office.” Mr. Obama conceded to Mr. Schieffer that he had implemented his own strategy, but that “we were gonna review that every six months.”

The only strategy I see right now is lessons on how to make a waffle.  I do not, can not, understand how anyone can stand there and vehemently state their love of country, all the while, destroying it’s foundation.  Obama is of the generation that proves the idiots have taken over the asylum.

Most alarming were the president’s comments on CNN that he was “not interested in just being in Afghanistan for the sake of being in Afghanistan or saving face or, in some way … sending a message that America is here for the duration.” It’s strange that he thinks anyone would argue that the United States should continue to sacrifice blood and treasure in Afghanistan “just for the sake of it.” When he says we are not in for the duration, Mr. Obama comes close to stating that the United States will leave before the mission is accomplished.

Obviously, Mr Obama is unaware that the intent of war against ones enemies is to actually WIN! Is he also unaware that Afghanistan is the country who allowed the Taliban to take over, and granted al Qaeda free reign? Does he not know that it was al Qaeda who attacked our country, and murdered our citizens? Does he not see the attacks as an act of war? Or, was it just an accident that 4 planes destroyed the World Trade Center, brought down a section of the Pentagon, and left a gaping hole in a field in Pennsylvania. Six months ago, I would have never asked this question: Was Obama one of those who secretly cheered when the Towers came down?  Now, I question the motives behind his actions.  Given the great Apology Tour of 2009, I question his ability to think rationally, as an American, and as an American president.

Radicals Wrote Failed Stimulus

Policymaking: If the stimulus isn’t working, perhaps it’s because it was largely written by a collection of leftist interest groups called the Apollo Alliance that counts among its directors a co-founder of the Weather Underground.

Does anyone see a pattern here?

The Labor Department reported Friday that 42 states lost more jobs than they gained in August, and that 14 plus Washington, D.C., reported unemployment rates of 10% or more.

Michigan’s rate rose to 15.2%, highest in the nation. Nevada, represented by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is second with 13.2%. California, home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is tied for fourth with Oregon at 12.2%.

Wait a minute….I thought that piece of crap was absolutely necessary to save the world….RIGHT NOW! Isn’t that Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the others claimed? The heck with reading the bill! The heck with who actually wrote it! It doesn’t matter that it’s Congress’ job to write bills, and not some outside criminal element, right?

Clearly, the stimulus bill that no congressman read is not working. As it turns out, no congressman may have written it either. It’s largely the creation of a coalition of leftist organizations called the Apollo Alliance, whose primary interests are saving the Earth, environmental justice and redistributing wealth. They are not friends of job-creating capitalism.

How do we reverse the damage done by the stupidity of this current Congress? Which, by the way, for those who have forgotten, took over in 2006. How do we put a stop to the unconstitutional take over by these feckless groups?

“We’ve talked about moving forward on these ideas for decades,” Reid is quoted as saying. “The Apollo Alliance has been an important factor in helping us develop and execute a strategy that makes great progress on these goals and in motivating the public to support them.”

Ok, let’s face it! Harry Reid is a complete and utter moron! If you people out there in Nevada re-elect him, I vote we kick y’all out of the union! No one can be that stupid, over and over and over….can they?

Wade Rathke, founder of Acorn, was also on the Apollo board, as is Gerald Hudson, vice president of the Service Employees International Union, which provides the shock troops in the movement to pass government-run health care.

John Podesta, former chief of staff to President Clinton and now president of the leftist Center for American Progress, also sits on the Apollo board. Each day his group sends out talking points to the left side of the blogosphere. Mark Lloyd, diversity czar at the Federal Communications Commission, was a senior fellow at CAP.

THIS is the company The ONE has been keeping for years, and we are suppose to believe he has America’s best interest at heart? Give me a freakin’ break!

Perhaps the most bizarre aspect of all this is that an even more radical Jones (no relation) has a relationship with the Apollo Alliance. Jeff Jones was a domestic terrorist in the ’60s and a fugitive from justice throughout the ’70s who, with Bill Ayers, helped found the Weather Underground in 1969.

Obama put the future of our nation into the hands of terrorists! How’s that hopey/changey workin’ for y’all?

As a consultant to WDI, Jones helps write the grant proposals for federal stimulus dollars — funds authorized in the bill that Apollo helped write — all to ensure that taxpayer dollars end up in the hands of groups that share Apollo’s political agenda.

Welcome to government of the activist, by the activist and for the activist.

FACT CHECK: Coverage requirement enforced with tax

Memo to President Barack Obama: It’s a tax. Obama insisted this weekend on national television that requiring people to carry health insurance — and fining them if they don’t — isn’t the same thing as a tax increase. But the language of Democratic bills to revamp the nation’s health care system doesn’t quibble. Both the House bill and the Senate Finance Committee proposal clearly state that the fines would be a tax.

And the reason the fines are in the legislation is to enforce the coverage requirement.

“If you put something in the Internal Revenue Code, and you tell the IRS to collect it, I think that’s a tax,” said Clint Stretch, head of the tax policy group for Deloitte, a major accounting firm. “If you don’t pay, the person who’s going to come and get it is going to be from the IRS.”

You can try to spin any way you want, but this whole bill is nothing more than one HUGE tax increase for EVERYONE! If hard earned funds are being drawn out of my pocket without my permission, it’s theft. Well, you don’t have my permission to take one single dime from me to pay for someone else’s bills.

Have you read HR 3200? I have. It’s nothing but a gigantic tax bill. In reality, it has no more to do with health care than HR 2454 has to do with climate or energy issues. It’s ALL about control! Of you!  Of me.  Of our children.  Of our grandchildren.

In an interview that aired Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Obama insisted that the insurance requirement is not a tax.

“For us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase,” the president said. “What it’s saying is…that we’re not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore.

On the contrary, that is EXACTLY what you are asking of the American people.

By the way Mr President……..

Perhaps, unlike Matthews, intelligent people who actually READ books aren’t too fond of what he considers “worth reading”, NOT worth the money? Or, perhaps, they have found nothing to recommend said books to their friends? Therefore, they aren’t being bought? Just a thought.

HR 3567

21 September 2009, 9:06 am. Comments Off. Filed under Congress, Feckless Weasels, House of Representatives.

They call it “Respect for Marriage Act of 2009“, but it is anything but!

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘Respect for Marriage Act of 2009’.

SEC. 2. REPEAL OF SECTION ADDED TO TITLE 28, UNITED STATES CODE, BY SECTION 2 OF THE DEFENSE OF MARRIAGE ACT.

Section 1738C of title 28, United States Code, is repealed, and the table of sections at the beginning of chapter 115 of title 28, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to that section.

SEC. 3. MARRIAGE RECOGNITION.

Section 7 of title 1, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:

‘Sec. 7. Marriage

‘(a) For the purposes of any Federal law in which marital status is a factor, an individual shall be considered married if that individual’s marriage is valid in the State where the marriage was entered into or, in the case of a marriage entered into outside any State, if the marriage is valid in the place where entered into and the marriage could have been entered into in a State.

‘(b) In this section, the term ‘State’ means a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or any other territory or possession of the United States.’.

In other words, screw the people who have rejected ‘gay marriage’.  You know, those folks who have overwhelmingly shot it down, state by state, on election day.  Obviously, the title of the bill has nothing at all to do with respecting marriage, or the voters.  This is just one more example of a small minority of people undermining the foundations of our nation.

How, you ask?  Well, I’ll be happy to tell you.  This house being build on sand is going to collapse.   Calling a relationship between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, marriage, and forcing acceptance down the throats of the American people (no pun intended), does not promote unity.  When the vast majority of Americans profess a belief in God, do you erect a straw statue, and force them to kneel at it’s feet?

Defense of Marriage Act was signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1996.

1. No state (or other political subdivision within the United States) needs to treat a relationship between persons of the same sex as a marriage, even if the relationship is considered a marriage in another state.
2. The federal government defines marriage as a legal union exclusively between one man and one woman.

Not One Single Dime!

This past weekend, I attended a couple of very informative events held in Nashville. Out of complete curiosity, when I got home, I decided to snoop The Tennessean to see what they had to say about the events. Imagine my shock and surprise (insert massive sarcasm here) when I couldn’t find one single word about either the Smart Girl Politics Summit 2009, that brought to town 3 fairly big names, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Liz Cheney, and Michelle Malkin, or RootsHQ 2009/American Liberty Tour that had names like Joe the Plumber, Lloyd Marcus, Eric Odom, and our very own Ken Marrero, among others. If you can find ANYTHING in that rag that refers to these events, I’d sure like to see ‘em.

Newspapers no longer report the news, so why would anyone want to help them financially? With OUR money! Let them die a painful death!

A Book Review

20 September 2009, 8:54 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Friends & Family.

I’m an avid reader.  That’s a fact!  I’m also an extremely slow reader, not because I actually read slowly, but because I tend to fall asleep when I am reading, so it takes me a while to get through a book.  :?

Many moons ago, when I came across a particular blog, there were links to the first few chapters to a book the author of the blogs and his alter ego, was writing.  Well, not all that long ago, the book was finally released!  FINALLY!  (could have grown extremely old, waiting)

Well, I finally finished the book, and wanted to share.   READ THIS BOOK! As Caughill says, it’s not pro- or anti-abortion….it’s definitely pro-thought!

You can find it at Amazon, or Barnes and Nobles.

I congratulate Michael, and Elliott, for such a great read.  Looking forward to the sequel!  And make it snappy!
