Marsha Blackburn on Queen Nanny’s “Bill”
Today, Speaker Pelosi released the latest version of the Democrat’s health care reform bill. Coming in at almost 2,000 pages, H.R. 3962 is nearly twice the length of and more expensive than H.R. 3200, the bill we considered in the Energy and Commerce Committee this past July. For nearly three full months, the Speaker and her partisans have been crafting this bill behind closed doors. I find the product they produced today as dubious as the one I voted against in July.
A colleague of mine noted that the original legislation that created Medicare and Medicare, which themselves cost nearly $800 billion annually, was less than 300 pages. Just imagine what a 2,000 page bill will create!
We expect a final vote on the bill sometime next week, though we could easily see several false starts as Speaker Pelosi twists arms to get the votes she needs.
The new bill uses the word “shall” 3,425 times. The word “shall” in a bill becomes a government order when that bill becomes law. Among those 3,425 provisions are many that concerned me in H.R. 3200. One of those “shall” provisions deals with vending machines. Under this bill, the federal government will dictate how snacks are arranged in vending machines – imagine that! Talk about the long arm of the federal government!

The point is — we have been attempting to call your attention to the fact that America has been turning to socialism at an ever-increasing speed since the election of the current Congress in 2008 – and — at an even faster pace since the election of the current President, Obama. Now comes a news outlet whose very birth was at the hands of Leon Trotsky, a Bolshevik revolutionary and Marxist theorist, to support our claims!
Trotsky was one of the leaders of the Russian October Revolution, second only to Lenin. During the early days of the Soviet Union, Trotsky served first as People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs and later as the founder and commander of the Red Army and People’s Commissar of War. He was also among the first members of the Politburo. The news outlet Trotsky founded, called Pravda, was an official organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party between 1912 and 1991. Now Pravda is validating what we have been trying to tell you.
So listen up! When old graybeards, like myself, tell you that today’s America is NOT the America we knew, NOT the America we grew up in, NOT the America The Founders of the country intended, we are telling you THE TRUTH! This is not the America we knew, at all! When we say we want our country back, we are absolutely sincere. For today’s America is not ours. Today’s America is only a shadow of our America. Today’s America is a shell of its former self.

If these so called ‘representatives’ of the people hate this country, and the principles on which it was founded, there are a LOT of countries they could go to live who would give them the type of oppression they want to shove down our throats. The majority of this country do not share their views, so why has no one stopped them?

Video Desecrating American Flag is Obama Team’s Finalist
Today, Politico reports that one of the twenty finalists in a health care video contest run by Organizing for America is film of an American flag being spray painted onto a building and then desecrated with graffiti before being “ultimately obliterate[d].” The video is produced by Daniel Lahoda and Saber, and is to be ultimately judged by Plouffe, DNC Chairman Tim Kaine, Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-PA), singer will.i.am and Hollywood stars Rosario Dawson and Dule Hill. The idea that the desecration of the American Flag is either entertaining or helps sell liberal health care reform should be universally admonished.
In fact, an anonymous liberal entrant to the contest even told Politico that “a video ‘defacing the flag’ won’t do much to help President Barack Obama or the Democrats sell health care reform.” A truer statement could not be found. President Obama had come under previous ‘flag scrutiny’ for refusing to wear an American flag on his lapel which he explained by saying it “became a substitute for I think true patriotism.” He later began wearing a pin.

TN Attorney General says landlords can ban tenants’ guns
Attorney General Bob Cooper says landlords can ban their tenants from bringing firearms into their property even if they have handgun carry permits.
Cooper said in an opinion released Wednesday that landlords can either include a firearms ban in the lease or through signs posted on the property.
But Cooper ads that violators couldn’t face criminal charges if the landlord doesn’t post signs.
The opinion was requested by Republican Rep. Tony Shipley of Kingsport. Legal opinions issued by the attorney general indicate his office’s interpretation of the law, but unlike court opinions, they aren’t binding.
In other words, the state AG just told landlords to put up a sign basically stating:

United States Constitution – 2nd Amendment: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Constitution of the State of Tennessee – Article 1, Section 26: That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime.
Obviously, I’m no constitutional scholar, but honestly, I don’t think you need to be to understand either of these. For any landlord to refuse to allow law abiding citizens to own weapons on a rental property doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I’d see that as a violation. For the state AG to say it’s ok? Well, maybe he should rethink his ‘agenda’.

The Democrats’ all-new “opt out” idea for health care reform is the latest fig leaf for a total government takeover of the health care system.
Democrats tell us they’ve been trying to nationalize health care for 65 years, but the first anyone heard of the “opt out” provision was about a week ago. They keep changing the language so people can’t figure out what’s going on.
The most important fact about the “opt out” scheme allegedly allowing states to decline government health insurance is that a state can’t “opt out” of paying for it. All 50 states will pay for it. A state legislature can only opt out of allowing its own citizens to receive the benefits of a federal program they’re paying for.

Convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad will die by lethal injection when he is executed next month, Virginia officials said yesterday.
Muhammad declined to choose between lethal injection and electrocution, so under state law, the method defaults to lethal injection, Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said.
Muhammad is scheduled to be executed Nov. 10 for the October 2002 slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas gas station during a string of shootings.
I guess in the scheme of things, this is fairly fast. Way too many sit on death row for 18+ years at taxpayer expense.

Our student body president never talks about the books he read as a youth. But I’m betting that before he became an accomplished community organizer, he read Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, because he follows those rules more often than not.
Obama loves the media as long as it loves him, and not a New York minute longer. And against those voices in the media who take him on he employs Alinsky’s rules: isolate marginalize, and render the adversary ineffective for starters.
The first target of Barry O’s administration was radio juggernaut Rush Limbaugh. The Big O administration tried to isolate and marginalize him by claiming Rush was the leader of the Republican Party and making him responsible for all its faults and foibles. That Alinsky strategy struck a media iceberg and sank into oblivion. Rush is more popular than ever for all the right reasons.
Their second target is now Fox News, which Barry O’s administration claims is a mouthpiece for the Republican Party and, as such, has imposed a White House blockade against Fox News in hopes of damaging the fair and balanced network.
Bad move.

Father of 9/11 Victim Fights to Have ‘Murdered by Muslim Terrorists’ Inscribed on Son’s Memorial
Peter Gadiel wants everyone to remember his son, James, who was killed during the September 11 terrorist attacks.
And he also wants people to remember how he died: “Murdered by Muslim terrorists.”
For Gadiel, any tribute to his son would be woefully incomplete without those words.
I tend to agree with Mr Gadiel. The young man was murdered….by MUSLIM terrorists.
“I think it’s important, because I think there’s a nationwide effort to suppress the identity of the people who were involved in the attacks,” Gadiel told Fox News.
Unfortunately, he’s right. All in the name of “diversity”. Screw diversity. If some people want to forget who carried out the murders of 3,000 people, that’s their prerogative. Don’t ask a grieving father, or anyone else, with an ounce of common sense to do the same.

Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many “czars” appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?
Did you think that another “czar” would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers– that is, to create a situation where some newspapers’ survival would depend on the government liking what they publish?
Did you imagine that anyone would even be talking about having a panel of so-called “experts” deciding who could and could not get life-saving medical treatments?

Climate chief Lord Stern: give up meat to save the planet
People will need to consider turning vegetarian if the world is to conquer climate change, according to a leading authority on global warming.
In an interview with The Times, Lord Stern of Brentford said: “Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.”
Direct emissions of methane from cows and pigs is a significant source of greenhouse gases. Methane is 23 times more powerful than carbon dioxide as a global warming gas.
What a blithering idiot! Seriously, think about it. If we don’t eat the cows, then there will be MORE cows farting into the atmosphere. Therefore, the more meat ya eat, the less methane. Ta da! Problem solved. Seriously, I’d like to see that poof try to take away my steak!
