Conservative vs Liberals
If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn`t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands everyone know it & legislative legitimacy.
If a black man or Hispanic are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders what government program is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
(Unless it’s a foreign religion, especially islam, of course!)
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his thru the government.
If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he’s in labor and then sues.
If a conservative reads this, he’ll share it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will ignore it because he’s “offended”.

Rainy Afternoon With Politicians
This afternoon, the Mr and I went over to a shindig for a meet and greet with the Tennessee Secretary of State, Tre Hargett.
(Yeah, he’s fuzzy….it’s not your eyes.)
Until a few years ago, I had no idea that states even had Sec of States.
Unfortunately, as usual, I forgot to take my notepad so I could take notes, so if you are interested in what his job actually entails, you can check out the website.
One thing he brought up was showing a picture ID when going to vote. This is a sticking point with me. You have to show ID to buy Sudafed, but not to use the most important privilege we have…..our vote. Yes, we heard about the complaints that it would be discriminatory to require poor people to show an ID. You know, those same poor folks that have to show proof of residency in order to apply for food stamps and aid to dependent children. Uh huh. I got the impression this fellow would prefer that folks show picture ID when they voted, but I could be wrong.
Vance Dennis, along with his lovely bride, Ashley, and Delores Gresham were also in attendance. We met the mayor of Saltillo…. nice guy, and several ladies from around the area, including a couple of member of the Pickwick Republican Women.

Sunstein: Take organs from ‘helpless patients’
President Obama’s newly confirmed regulatory czar defended the possibility of removing organs from terminally ill patients without their permission.
Cass Sunstein also has strongly pushed for the removal of organs from deceased individuals who did not explicitly consent to becoming organ donors.
There is something seriously wrong with this man.
In his 2008 book, “Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth and Happiness,” Sunstein and co-author Richard Thaler discussed multiple legal scenarios regarding organ donation. One possibility presented in the book, termed by Sunstein as “routine removal,” posits that “the state owns the rights to body parts of people who are dead or in certain hopeless conditions, and it can remove their organs without asking anyone’s permission.”
SERIOUSLY wrong! I’m no Constitutional scholar, but this sounds like a violation of the 4th Amendment.
“Presumed consent preserves freedom of choice, but it is different from explicit consent because it shifts the default rule. Under this policy, all citizens would be presumed to be consenting donors, but they would have the opportunity to register their unwillingness to donate, and they could do so easily. We want to underline the word easily, because the harder it is to register your unwillingness to participate, the less libertarian the policy becomes.”
Sunstein continues: “Although presumed consent is an extremely effective way to increase the supply of organs available for transplant, it may not be an easy sell politically. Some will object to the idea of ‘presuming’ anything when it comes to such a sensitive matter. We are not sure that these objections are convincing, but this is surely a domain in which forced choosing, or what is referred to in this domain as mandated choice, has considerable appeal.”
Presume the middle finger of both my hands are waving!

Sunstein argues that refusing to fund abortion “would require poor women to be breeders,” while co-opting women’s bodies “in the service of third parties” – referring to fetuses.
Sunstein wrote he has no problem with forcing taxpayers to fund abortions even if they morally object to their money being used for such a purpose.
If Sunstein wants to pay for some ‘poor’ woman’s murder of their children, then he is quite free to do so. Using taxpayer money is abhorrent. Where in the Constitution does it state that we have to pay for the birth, much less the murder of said child.
He wrote: “There would be no tension with the establishment clause if people with religious or other objections were forced to pay for that procedure (abortion). Indeed, taxpayers are often forced to pay for things – national defense, welfare, certain forms of art, and others – to which they have powerful moral and even religious objections.”
Personally, I have serious issues with how Washington, D.C. is spending MY money. Defense? No problem. Roads? Not an issue. Welfare? On a temporary basis, this causes me no sleepless nights. The lifetime achievement award for never getting up off your ass and getting a job? SERIOUS problems. Art? Well, what they call art these days…. but NO, taxpayers should NOT be footing the bill. If you want to DONATE your money to promote art, have at it, but don’t expect me to support what I find offensive. NO taxpayer money should EVER be spent in such a manner.
Not only is there something seriously wrong with this guy, there is also something seriously wrong with his employer. Sunstein always brings to mind Joseph Mengele.
Back to the issue at hand. If I, or you, want to donate our organs, we are quite free to do so. If I, or you, choose NOT to donate them, then that is our right. I have no problem with your decision, or that of your family’s, but do NOT expect me to do something if I feel it violates my faith, ethics, or morals. EVER!
Money For Nuthin’
Hardin County Tax
On the 3rd, I posted about a tax issue here in Podunk. Well, it looks like they are going to have a referendum.
Date For County Wide Referendum Set
The Hardin County Election Commission convened on Tuesday, October 6th and a date has been set for a county wide special referendum to decide the fate of 1 cent of the local option sales tax. According to Hardin County Election Administrator Marilyn Adams, the date for the popular vote on whether or not to keep the local option rate at its current 2.5 percent will be Tuesday, December 1st.
In accordance with TCA 67-6-706.(a)(2) “The county election commission shall hold an election on the question pursuant to § 2-3-204, providing options to vote “FOR” or “AGAINST” the ordinance or resolution, after the receipt of a certified copy of such ordinance or resolution, and a majority vote of those voting in the election shall determine whether the ordinance or resolution is to be operative.”
The wording of the question to vote “For” or “Against” in the election has yet to be finalized. Adams reported that election officials should finalize this within the next few days.
Honestly, I don’t know why they have to make it so bloomin’ complicated. I can make it real simple for them: Do you want to lower the county tax from 2.5% to 1.5%? YES or NO. Sheesh!
They should have read my take on it and compromised, lowering the tax to 2.0%. Saved everyone a lot of hassle, not to mention the money it’s going to cost to have this county wide vote.

Nobel Geopolitics
By George Friedman
U.S. President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize last week. Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, established the prize, which was to be awarded to the person who has accomplished “the most or the best work for fraternity among nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the promotion of peace congresses.” The mechanism for awarding the peace prize is very different from the other Nobel categories. Academic bodies, such as the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, decide who wins the other prizes. Alfred Nobel’s will stated, however, that a committee of five selected by the Norwegian legislature, or Storting, should award the peace prize.
The committee that awarded the peace price to Obama consists of chairman Thorbjorn Jagland, president of the Storting and former Labor Party prime minister and foreign minister of Norway; Kaci Kullmann Five, a former member of the Storting and president of the Conservative Party; Sissel Marie Ronbeck, a former Social Democratic member of the Storting; Inger-Marie Ytterhorn, a former member of the Storting and current senior adviser to the Progress Party; and Agot Valle, a current member of the Storting and spokeswoman on foreign affairs for the Socialist Left Party.
The peace prize committee is therefore a committee of politicians, some present members of parliament, some former members of parliament. Three come from the left (Jagland, Ronbeck and Valle). Two come from the right (Kullman and Ytterhorn). It is reasonable to say that the peace prize committee faithfully reproduces the full spectrum of Norwegian politics.

Pediatrician accused of child porn, rape manages to set up practice in Alabama
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A pediatrician accused of child pornography and rape of a teenage patient had a troubled past, including being fired by three hospitals in Tennessee. But that didn’t get in the way of him setting up a practice in northeast Alabama.
Court records and testimony show Dr. Michael Roy Sharpe of Albertville was fired from three Tennessee hospitals — twice for allegations of sexual misconduct in the 1990s. But he still was able to practice in Alabama, where he is now accused of having sex with a 15-year-old patient.
A review by The Associated Press also found that, despite his troubled history, no state has taken disciplinary action against him.
Alabama medical licensing officials say the two sex-related claims in Tennessee were not put on a federal databank. And they dropped their more recent probe when he voluntarily surrendered his license.
You mean to tell me that the state of Tennessee never bothered to strip him of his license? And that Alabama gave him free reign to abuse more kids? Isn’t there some board or some such that grants doctors the PRIVILEGE, on a national level, to practice medicine? I wasn’t aware it was a license to abuse children.

First-grader suspended for Cub Scout tool
A 6-year-old Newark, Del., boy faces a possible 45 days in his district’s reform school for bringing a Cub Scout meal utensil to class, officials said.
Zachary Christie violated the Christina School District’s zero-tolerance on knives by bringing his three-in-one knife, fork and spoon to school to eat lunch. District officials said they suspended the first-grader because knives are banned, regardless of the possessor’s intent.
I can’t even come up with an appropriately sarcastic comment. This is a six year old kid for the love of pete!
The idea of putting this child in a so called reform school for this is beyond ridiculous. It’s down right ignorant, and dangerous.
J.D. Can’t Figure It Out Either
The Obama Cult, A Mental Illness?
by J. D. Longstreet
A snippet:
Oh, well, now we know the personality cult that is Obama has spread, for sure, to Europe. Some are declaring that someday, in the not too distant future, this Obama “thing” will be studied as a mental illness. It’s sort of like “Mass Hysteria.” It has spread around the globe and for those of us “anchored, secure,” individuals it is totally indecipherable. We see it for what it is, but we are completely unable to rescue those less secure than we who have attached themselves to the Supernova star that is Obama. Like a Supernova Obama will eventually implode and suck all within his orbit into the oblivion that once was his blazing core.
The more I about it, the more I really believe Obama NEEDS to return this prize. He has done nothing positive in his entire life, that we know of….maybe there’s something in all those records he’s kept hidden? Nobody knows. As J.D. said, he’s taken some ‘bads’ he ‘inherited’ and turned them into worse, then added many of his own. I suppose if you see the destruction of a nation as a positive thing, the committee was right on track.
Just Cuz….
