Graham Backs Climate Change Legislation
A top Senate Republican on Sunday announced his support for sweeping climate change legislation, disputing the “conventional wisdom” that says Congress simply cannot tackle the bill this year.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., co-authored an op-ed with Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., in The New York Times calling for action on legislation — which Kerry rolled out alongside Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., late last month.
Though even Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has expressed doubt that the Senate can address the issue at the same time it’s engineering health care reform, Graham and Kerry said a bipartisan bill is possible before a major international climate change summit in Copenhagen in December.
“Our partnership represents a fresh attempt to find consensus that adheres to our core principles and leads to both a climate change solution and energy independence. It begins now, not months from now — with a road to 60 votes in the Senate,” they wrote.
Ok, so when it Graham going to make the big announcement? That he’s following in the footsteps of Benedict Specter and changing the letter behind his name from an “R” to a “D”? Should be any day now! While he’s at it, he might as well follow the Peanut clown and leave the Southern Baptist church too. Not sure where he got the idea man is in control, but it sure wasn’t in any church I attend.

They Don’t Know Dick!
What happened to global warming?
This headline may come as a bit of a surprise, so too might that fact that the warmest year recorded globally was not in 2008 or 2007, but in 1998.
But it is true. For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures.
And our climate models did not forecast it, even though man-made carbon dioxide, the gas thought to be responsible for warming our planet, has continued to rise.
So what on Earth is going on?
Well, I’m gonna tell ya! We don’t know dick! You can put 100 scientists in the same room, give ‘em a hockey stick, but in the long run…..we still don’t know dick!
Science is an amazing thing. We’ve learned a lot over the years, decades….centuries, but when you stop and think about it……we know perhaps a minuscule amount of what there is to know. Odds are, we aren’t ever going to have all the answers.
One thing I do know….we have NO control over this planet. We were put here to use what is available, to the betterment of our fellow man, and ourselves. These yahoos (read the al gore’s of the world) really think they can control a planet this size? We are NOT in charge. We not only don’t know dick, we can’t DO dick!
And in case the al gores don’t know, we NEED carbon dioxide on this here blue ball.

Facebook ‘poke’ leads to woman’s arrest
A Hendersonville woman was arrested for virtually “poking” someone on the social networking site Facebook.
Shannon D. Jackson, 36, was arrested Friday, Sept. 25 for allegedly violating an order of protection.
According to the affidavit filed in Sumner County General Sessions Court, Jackson is accused of using the “poke” option on Facebook to contact a Hendersonville woman, thus violating the terms of the order of protection, which stipulates “no telephoning, contacting or otherwise communicating with the petitioner.”
Poking is a feature unique to Facebook that conveys no other message but informing a user they have been “poked” by another user.
Ok, if you use Facebook, you know that if you aren’t ‘friends’ with someone, they can’t ‘poke’ you. So, my question here: Why didn’t the complaining woman ‘DE-friend” Jackson? It’s fairly simple, if ya ask me.

Yes, I AM trying to find home for a couple of them. The one with the collar, I’m guessing, belongs to someone, but evidently, he likes it around here a WHOLE lot better. That poor thing is starving for attention. Tiny mom with her baby at the top just showed up. Mean as junkyard dogs….both of ‘em! They’ve calmed down a bit with a smidge of human interaction….aka ME. They won’t ever be real ‘people cats’, IMHO. Mom is teaching baby well to survive.
The kitties with faces in the paper plate have an appointment next week with the vet! Why? Well, how am I gonna give ‘em to deserving families if they’re all wormy and such? Yes, I’m a sucker, but hey….what can I say?
I’m thinking that tri colored little bit is gonna find her way into the house after her going over with the Doc. Heh. Hey! It was the Mr who picked that one!

Mr Obama becomes the third sitting US President to receive the prize. The committee said today that he had “captured the world’s attention”. It is certainly true that his energy and aspirations have dazzled many of his supporters. Sadly, it seems they have so bedazzled the Norwegians that they can no longer separate hopes from achievement. The achievements of all previous winners have been diminished.

Yes, supposedly, Obama is going to be donating the money that comes with the award to charity. I hear ACORN is in need of some funds.

Facts Mean Nothing To The Media
When you read something in a ‘newspaper’, aren’t you suppose to be able to believe what they state as the facts? Well, you USE to be able to, but not anymore. Is it any wonder that only 29% believe the media gets the facts straight? Newspapers blame the internet for declining circulation. Personally, I blame the so called NEWSpapers themselves.
A couple of days ago, I posted about an exchange between friend and fellow blogger, Texas Fred, and the mayor of Wurst….er….Hurst, TX. The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram spoke to Fred about the exchange, and not surprisingly, got the FACTS wrong.
Ward said he does regret some things he has said or written on blogs and in e-mails. After Rowlett blogger Fred Witzell called Ward an “idiot mayor,” Ward shot back, saying Witzell, a fellow member of the NRA, was “dumb” and “ugly.”
Not exactly the way things happened. And there is a time line to PROVE it:

As to your question, how does it feel to be the only Mayor in Texas to be a member of MAIG. It feels wonderful. At least one mayor has the guts (actually I preferred another word) to stand up for what is right. I am sending you an attachment that I put together. You will likely have to have your wife or child read it to you. It has some big words in it. But… have it read to you with an open mind and you might realize that we are all seeking the same thing. Get the criminals and illegal guns off the streets.
Please note the times of each email! Fred’s initial email was sent at 10:36am on Tuesday. The only thing I can see that could POSSIBLY be considered an insult, even if it IS true…. “disgrace”. REAL Texans do NOT want to deny any American their Constitutional rights, most important of which is the 2nd. Without the 2nd, there is no 1st. So yes, the clown IS a disgrace!
Less than an hour later, 11:23am, this so called mayor responded, in what can only be considered a juvenile, petty, and down right inappropriate manner for an elected official.
“He started the name calling,” Ward said. “In retrospect, I would like to go back and redo it.”
Want some cheese with that whine? It’s a bald face LIE Mr. Ward! You can’t unring this bell!
I just love Fred’s parting ‘shot’:
“There’s only one way to get the guns out of the hands of the criminals, and that’s to remove the criminals,” Witzell said.
That’s a fact! Spin it any way you want to, but if the mollycoddling would stop, we’d have a whole lot less crime!
The way I see it, the Star-Telegram owes Fred an apology for being less than accurate. (I’m being MORE than nice here.)

Hillbilly pol takes shot at mayor
A Republican gubernatorial hopeful in Tennessee yesterday slammed Mayor Bloomberg’s crusade against illegal guns — and told him to “stay the heck out of” his state.
Zach Wamp, who’s running for the seat that will be open because of term limits, took the jab at the Big Apple mayor in a Twitter post.
The broadside came a day after Bloomberg revealed that 40 private investigators hired by the city bought firearms at gun shows in Tennessee, Nevada and Ohio between May and August — despite the buyers telling the sellers they couldn’t pass mandated background checks.
Ok, what is it with New Yorkers? Do they actually believe everyone who doesn’t live in New York is a ‘hillbilly’? Do they even know what a hillbilly is????? Evidently not! I would have thought the Post had a little more sense than to use such a term. This is

The Tennessee Constitution states in Article I, Section 26: That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime. If Bloomberg would take a good hard look at the state of Tennessee, the only cities with a massive crime problem are those that are run by Democrats with the same mind set as him. There are some things in the world that are just impossible to fathom. And NO, I’m not talking about the Prez winning the Nobel Peace Prize for having done nothing. I’m talking about this…and I’m going to attempt to keep my language in check.
Forrest City, AR 10/08/09) Doctors have determined that a mentally challenged teenager is fit to stand trial for raping his eight day-old daughter.
Reginald Davis was 18 years old when police say he raped and beat his infant daughter in the mother’s Forrest City, Arkansas home. The newborn was rushed to the hospital September 1, 2008 after Davis visited the child and her mother. Doctors said the newborn had vaginal bleeding and a fractured skull. Police arrested Davis after the child’s 15 year-old mother said she took a shower and left Davis alone with his newborn.
Okay – we have an 18 year old getting a 15 year old pregnant. That in and of itself is against the laws of most states.
In a forensic report submitted to the court, doctors say he understands right from wrong. Under questioning, Davis told investigators different stories, but “finally admitted that he caused the injuries to his child”. He claimed he “accidentally penetrated the baby” and “accidentally dropped” her. At the time, Davis’ mother said her son was set up and that it’s not in his nature to hurt a child
Accidentally?? ACCIDENTALLY??? Tell me friends – how does one accidentally penetrate an 8 day old? I suppose he accidentally took off the diaper. Then he accidentally pulled down his pants. He then accidentally got aroused, and accidentally…Lord – I can’t even think about it.
“Whatever happened over there, I hope they just come out with the truth and tell it because all I know when I talked to him he said something about a baby and he didn’t do that,” said Jacqueline Smith.
According to the forensic report, Davis grew up in a violent home. Doctors say with an IQ of 59, the Special Ed student has “mild mental retardation”. Juvenile courts determined him delinquent and put him on probation for robbery. Experts say with his history, Davis may not have been prepared to care for a child.
“Have they been taught? Have they experienced what it is like to be cared for and have they been taught how to care for another person,” asks Nancy Williams of the Memphis Child Advocacy Center.

Davis has told investigators another man sexually assaulted his daughter. He is still behind bars and could go to trial next month. Despite Davis’ mental handicap, doctors think he knew sexual contact with a child was against the law.
