There's a big difference between a private business (McDonald's) and the U.S. Military. We fund the military. It comes out of our pockets. We fund the CIA, we pay the salaries of those who were sleeping on the job, or blowing off the warning signs. I honestly don't see how the families could sue without us being stuck with the bill.

Actually, we ARENT Uncle Sam, hes become a monster of a different sort, but thats for another day.
The only way to get their attention is if it costs them alot of money (whoever is at fault).
Some heads would roll, then.
If the govt gets sued, they arent going to create a new tax to cover it, it would have to come out of some current budget. So yes, its "tax money", but not money taken for just that purpose.
Theyre going to raise taxes on us no matter what we do, and spend it poorly. Id rather see the families get a refund of their own money, than it go for 500 bucks for a hammer or toilet seat.
Someone needs to take responsibility, and its not about the money. Its getting peoples attention. Whining and shaking our fists at them doesnt seem to be working. Kinda like with the healthcare bill. Lotta good them protests did.
Remember how the lady burned herself with coffee at McDonalds then sued them?
In that case it may have been her fault, but the point is she got action taken and Mcdonalds now makes sure people wont get 3rd degree burns because she hit them in the wallet.
Had she stood outside McDonalds with a sign, wrote letters to CEOs, and whined on Fox news, they wouldnt have done a damn thing.

I think it may have something to do with Hasan's attempts to contact al Qaeda (http://bit.ly/2wzygF). The CIA was well aware of him, and my guess is that they likely in the middle of an operation to identify anyone he might be working with. They were probably expecting something quite different than what happened, and not likely so soon.

As far as the army goes, yeah, he should have been identified and quickly shown the door. Was he strung along at the request of the CIA so an investigation could continue? Who knows if we'll ever find out.
