Virginia Governor Denies Clemency, D.C. Sniper Will Be Executed Tuesday

Virginia’s governor has denied clemency for sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad, clearing the way for his Tuesday execution.

Muhammad was sentenced to death for killing Dean Harold Meyers in 2002 at a Manassas, Virginia, gas station during a spree that left 10 dead across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Muhammad is set to die by injection at Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt. His attorneys have asked Kaine to commute his sentence to life in prison because they say he is mentally ill. The U.S. Supreme Court turned down Muhammad’s final appeal Monday.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, IT’S ABOUT FREAKIN’ TIME!  To be perfectly honest, I’m disappointed executions are not totally public, and in a more brutal manner, as in the type of murder the scum committed.  I want people like this to suffer in the manner they made others suffer.  Perhaps I’m sounding a bit Old Testament here, but seriously, perhaps if other saw exactly how it is, then maybe they’d rethink their plans to carry out some act of evil.  And that’s what it is you know….evil.  Not a crime of passion, no act of retribution, just plain evil.  Then again, some people are just evil, period.

Well said!  Capital punishment would be much more of a deterrent   if it were public, and if we didn’t go out of our way to ensure the offender doesn’t experience any discomfort.  Rope is pretty cheap…

In this guy’s case, I was thinking some target practice.  I’m getting better, but I’m sure I’d miss quite a few times.  I’m not too bad at ‘body’ shots though.
