An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings
Tennessee RINO Dance
While perusing our little weekly fish wrap, I came across an interesting little tidbit.
House Speaker wants to return to the GOP
House Speaker Kent Williams wants to be reinstated into the Republican Party before the beginning of the next legislative session in January.
Williams told The Associated Press at a fundraiser for his political action committee in Knoxville that he has several colleagues working toward a decision as soon as possible.
In the Elizabethton restaurateur’s woods: “I just want to know where I stand.”
Williams was stripped of his Republican credentials earlier this year for banding together with all of the chamber’s Democrats to be elected speaker.
State Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney said he’s not aware of of any plans to reinstate Williams. The next state executive committee meeting is Dec. 5.
Williams’ fundraiser was attended by U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander and Knoxville mayor and gubernatorial candidate Bill Haslam. It was co-hosted by 32 Republican lawmakers.
Why there is even an “R” behind Alexander’s name is beyond me. RINO should be there instead. I’d seriously like to know who those 32 “Republicans” were that co-hosted this shindig. Do they really have such short memories? I sure don’t, and I’m fairly sure that many others in the state that remember Williams’ shenanigans.

No doubt about it, the “party” is over.
All over the print and electronic media this week, the poobahs and pundits are predicting major Republican gains in next year’s elections. What is their basis for so bold a prediction? Historically, the party of a sitting president always loses in the midterm elections. It is as natural as autumn following summer. However, they fail to take into consideration one crucial factor: this is no ordinary time.
Given their weird behavior in the last year or so – and given the fact that they will only continue to self destruct in coming twelve months – I cannot foresee them gaining any serious ground in either the House or the Senate on Election Day next. In fact I can only see their numbers diminishing even further. By this time next year, Sarah Palin will be yesterday’s news – count on it.
We can only hope that out of the carnage of the GOP’s destruction will come a third party that is a tad more moderate and thoughtful – and I must emphasize the word “Hope”. Than ain’t never gonna happen, baby! It’s easy to predict that the Democrats will be running things for a long time into the future. The problem with that little scenario is, as Machiavelli said, “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely” – and the Democrats already have more-than-their-share of corrupt political hacks. For every Russ Feingold there are about ten Max Baucuses. If the Democratic Party is going to be taken seriously in their self-proclaimed roll as the “the party of the people” (and that’s getting harder to believe by the day) they need to be purged of their dead weight.

I’m not exactly sure what either Russ Feingold or Max Baucus has to do with this post about a Tennessee issue. I actually checked out your blog. If you had bothered to read more into my site,or even glanced at the sidebar, you might have noticed I am NOT a Democrat aka socialist, nor am I the current definition of Republican. I’m one of those who believes in the Bible and the U.S. Constitution, you know, one of those Tea Party folks you deride.
The Democrat Party has never, within my lifetime, been “the party of the people”. They are the party of big government power.
Im gonna pistol whip the next person that says “shenanigans”!
“Hey Farva, what’s the name of that restaurant you always go to?”
“Shenanigans?”
And never mind that Tom Degan nonsense. He’s a spammer and has hit SYLG before.
Well Wyatt, it sure was obvious he didn’t bother to actually LOOK around, before leaving such nonsense. LMAO Did he leave a form letter over there for ya, like the majority of people who haven’t got a clue what they’re talking about?
