I may begin to consider a human influence on climate, but only after we eliminate all volcanoes and fluctuating solar radiation.

I'm more concerned about the earth's mantle collapsing after all of the oil is sucked out.

Sorry to hear that, but I guess it does explain a lot. :P

Well, actually, there are a lot of scientists who gain quite a bit out of such 'findings'. They're called grants. :?

My ancestors didn't swing from the trees. Yours might have, but then that's a discussion for another day. There is no scientific evidence of the "missing link". And as a reasonably intelligent person, I realize the Earth is a LOT older than 6,000 years. Sheesh. Not every believer buys into the October 4004 BC stuff, y'know. :P

Let's face it, they can't predict the weather for the next 10 days accurately. What makes you think they can predict what's going to happen a hundred years from now? :?

Nope. I'm sure there are several, no dozens, no many many many things wrong with current climate models. It's really complicated, um, stuff afterall.

I do think you are correct, though, that global temperatures fluctuate with or without humans. But with people, there is a slight upward trend because of greenhouse gasses produced by them (industrialization). Now, if we were in a natural downward trend, it might even be argued that our warming was a good thing. But if we were in a natural upswing, the added couple degrees could put us over the edge.

And I have some pretty convincing arguments to demonstrate it. I'm currently indoctrinating ;) my 8 and 10 year old girls. But when you make statements such at "(w)hat I have issues with is some yahoo insisting my ancestors were swinging from the trees," it limits the issues I can present. And when a good chunk of the anti-AGWers limit discussion to causes only since 4,000 BC, the discussion is dead.

By the way, I think that those who believe scientists have a secret motive are terribly misinformed: a real scientist wouldn't care. She or he would just sit back and observe, describe, explain and predict.

It's a shame you can't be convinced. If you look at the history of the planet, there is quite a bit of evidence that the temperatures have fluctuated on a regular basis. Even when us evil industrialized humans were not a factor. :?

Jim, I'm sure you're aware the planet goes though changes all the time, right? Contrary to what these 'scientists' would like you to believe, there is not a dadburn thing we can do about it. We control nothing but our own ability to rationalize.

Yeah, the scientists proved they could be knobs. But there's nothing nefarious going on. Here's an explanation from U. of East Anglia: http://bit.ly/8l0hix
