Death Knell?

So, Face The Nation’s fill in host, Harry Smith, is worried about the GOP?

CBS devoted half of Sunday’s Face the Nation to the pressing question of “divisions within the Republican Party: Is there room for moderates?”

Not that anyone actually gives a flip what I think, I must toss in my 2 cents.

The GOP started the slow process of committing suicide when the moderates took over. You see, we are mostly a conservative country, with serious conservative values. Little things like, oh say, LIFE, the sanctity of marriage, small government, strong defense, personal responsibility, just to name a few. When the ‘moderates’ started running the show, they became nothing more than Democrats with a different name. THAT is what is killing the GOP. When they snap out of their stupor, return to REAL principles, and take a firm stand, then people like me will return to the fold.  Until then, the party can flounder as far as I’m concerned.  I’ll be voting my faith and conscience, NOT the Party.

and sadly, voting for 3rd and 4th party candidates is what will keep the dems in power.

Sb I have to agree.  We have to choose between the lesser of 2 evils and that means Republican or our votes won’t even matter.  We must vote to get the Dems out at all costs even if the candidate is not our ideal.  Baby steps is what is going to win back our party.  Sorry Kate, I know you don’t agree!

No Kathy, actually, I do agree…to an extent..sad to say.  :?   The biggest step will be conservative primary challengers to the incumbent RINOs.  It can be done, but people are going to have to start stepping up to the plate.  I think NY23 sent a HUGE message to the RNC.  I hope they got it!

  6. KathLop. 1 December 2009, 9:53 am

  8. KathLop. 1 December 2009, 9:57 am

Well, okay, you caught me.  I’m a much better behind the scenes person.

  9. olbroad. 1 December 2009, 10:08 am

And darn good at it too!  So……..???  When ya gonna get the ol’ fart to step up again?  :D

I’ve been working on him.  He said he won’t rule out anything.  It’s in God’s hands.

His reluctance tells me he’d be terrific.  LOL  Of course, I knew that back when.  Maybe he should start smaller?

I don’t think that would be an option.  I have a pretty good idea what I think will happen, but it’s just conjecture at this point.  He gets lots of pressure from people asking him all the time.  Heck, people ask me all the time!  Suffice it to say that he will make his own decisions in his own time frame.

That is true.  Thankfully, he’s one of those who actually has a brain, knows how to use it, and stands pretty firm on principles.  :D

I’m so lucky to have landed where I did in life to be a part of his and his family’s prolific life.  I know I’m stronger in my faith and stronger in my political views because of them.

It’s jut a shame that the people who voted to keep Wisconsin’s version of “maverick” weren’t able to see what a great senator he would have made….and may still make.  :D

  16. KathLop. 1 December 2009, 11:08 am

Time will tell, Kate.  Time will tell.

  17. olbroad. 1 December 2009, 11:46 am

Yes ma’am, it will.  Just hope we’re still allowed elections down the road.  :?

  18. KathLop. 1 December 2009, 11:49 am

What a horrible thought but with the current administration, anything is possible.

  19. olbroad. 1 December 2009, 11:52 am

    Yup….it is a concern.

  20. Shadowblitz70. 1 December 2009, 9:03 pm

Naw, theyd never take away elections. They learned the lesson Ben Franklin said so long ago:
” A Democracy will fail as soon as the people realize they can vote themselves right into the treasury.”

Elections are the democrats best weapon –  BS people into voting for you, work on your agenda rather than what the people want, then when things go bad, blame the Republicans.

  21. olbroad. 1 December 2009, 9:37 pm

Oh, pshaw.  The only real way they can win these days is find a few trunk full of “ooops, we forgot to count these’ ballots.  :P
