State Rep. Floyd calls Obama ‘socialist’

State Rep. Richard Floyd, R-Chattanooga, ventured into national gun politics this week with an e-mail to GOP friends in which he called President Barack Obama a “socialist leader” and top administration officials a “gang of thugs.”

And? That’s exactly what he is, and his minions ARE a “gang of thugs”.

In the e-mail sent Thursday from his personal account, Rep. Floyd wrote, “I pray all of us will take heed to what socialist leader Obama and his gang of thugs are trying to do to this country. We had better fear the government that fears our guns. Thanks to my friend Ed Warren and many others who are helping expose this bill.”

This is one of the major problems with a great many forwarded emails. One thing I always do is check the validity of the info that’s contained in the body. If I find it to be off target or totally false, I will respond to the person who sent it, and let them know what I found. I really wish more people would do a bit of investigating before forwarding these emails.  I’m thinking Rep. Floyd is wishing he had.  :?

State Rep. JoAnne Favors, D-Chattanoga, said regarding Rep. Floyd’s calling President Obama a socialist that “fortunately, we’re in a democratic society where we have free speech. … I am sorry that Rep. Floyd feels that way because as elected leaders, I think it’s incumbent … to look at more than one side of an issue. I think that we should really be informed.”

Well, actually madam, we are a republic, NOT a ‘democratic society’. Don’t you wish those who are elected to “representative” knew the actual history of the country? Rather sad, isn’t it.

Rep. Floyd said in a Chattanooga Times Free Press interview, “I didn’t research that thing (SB2099) back far enough before I sent that e-mail. It just made me mad when I saw it.”

But he isn’t backing away from his criticism of President Obama and Cabinet members.

“I tell you, right now we’re so close to socialism it’s not even funny,” Rep. Floyd said. “We now own the auto manufacturers, we now own banks and we’re trying to own the health care system. … We got a great socialist leader up there.”

If anyone bothered to actually look at the facts, then they’d see the same thing most sane people are seeing.  There IS a socialist sitting in the Oval Office.

He said “you can’t deny he (Obama) has a band of thugs around him. You look at Rahm Emanuel, and what’s the guy (Eric Holder) who’s the attorney general right now?”

The lawmaker doesn’t think it is unduly harsh to characterize top Obama officials as a “group of thugs” given many of their backgrounds stem from the rough-and-tumble politics of Chicago.

“Cross them and you’ll find out how big a thugs they are,” he said. “I don’t know if we can survive four years of this.”

Thugs is actually a polite way of putting it.  No sir, I don’t think we will be able to survive this administration.  I pray that people in this country will snap out of their stupor and take the Congress away from them.  If he doesn’t have Congressional support, his policies can’t be implemented.

I congratulate Rep. Floyd for speaking the truth!

Tennessee RINO Dance

While perusing our little weekly fish wrap, I came across an interesting little tidbit.

House Speaker wants to return to the GOP

House Speaker Kent Williams wants to be reinstated into the Republican Party before the beginning of the next legislative session in January.

Williams told The Associated Press at a fundraiser for his political action committee in Knoxville that he has several colleagues working toward a decision as soon as possible.

In the Elizabethton restaurateur’s woods: “I just want to know where I stand.”

Williams was stripped of his Republican credentials earlier this year for banding together with all of the chamber’s Democrats to be elected speaker.

State Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney said he’s not aware of of any plans to reinstate Williams. The next state executive committee meeting is Dec. 5.

Williams’ fundraiser was attended by U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander and Knoxville mayor and gubernatorial candidate Bill Haslam. It was co-hosted by 32 Republican lawmakers.

Why there is even an “R” behind Alexander’s name is beyond me. RINO should be there instead. I’d seriously like to know who those 32 “Republicans” were that co-hosted this shindig. Do they really have such short memories? I sure don’t, and I’m fairly sure that many others in the state that remember Williams’ shenanigans.

Globe Trotting POTUS

Obama seeks equal partnership in Asia

President Barack Obama pressed on with his mission to repair America’s global standing, telling Asians he was determined to engage them as equal partners in the economy, diplomacy and security.

In a 40-minute speech Saturday that ranged across the multitude of issues, the president declared the United States a “nation of the Pacific. Asia and the United States are not separated by this great ocean; we are bound by it.”

Is there no one he won’t suck up to? In our history, there was no one equal to the United States. We had innovation and a spirit of independence.

While he offered few specifics on the key issues of trade, Obama reached out warmly to China—soon expected to overtake Japan as the world’s No. 2 economy—applauding Beijing’s robust strides as a burgeoning economic engine.

Until one of his minions tells him what the ‘specifics’ are, he won’t know, so no surprise that he’s vague.

“We welcome China’s efforts to play a greater role on the world stage, a role in which their growing economy is joined by growing responsibility,” Obama said in the speech to 1,500 prominent Japanese in a soaring downtown Tokyo concert hall.

Oh, I just bet he does, considering he sold the U.S. to the Chinese. I’m curious why he would be telling the Japanese this though?

Obama reached out through several personal notes that delighted his audience, including calling himself “America’s first Pacific president,” referring to his time in Indonesia, birth in Hawaii and travels in Asia as a boy.

Do you ever get the feeling he suffers from multiple personality disorder?

“I want every American to know that we have a stake in the future of this region, because what happens here has a direct effect on our lives at home,” Obama said. “The fortunes of America and the Asia Pacific have become more closely linked than ever before.”

Americans have more concern about their own future, thanks to 10 months of economic decline due to the actions of this administration and current Congress.

While most Asian analysts praised the president’s speech, Takehiko Yamamoto, professor at Tokyo’s Waseda University, warned that Obama should not forget the challenges China “poses to U.S. and Japanese security.”

“The United States has high expectations for closer ties with China,” he said. “But when it comes to national security, China is a major concern and a destabilizing factor for the Japan-U.S. alliance.”

Mr Yamamoto should remember how attached Oblahblah’s handlers are to Mao, and his policies. He cares nothing about the security of this country, or Japan for that matter.

Medvedev and Obama were expected to continue work on a treaty to replace the START II nuclear agreement that expires Dec. 5. Both leaders have pledge to reach a new pact before year’s end. Administration officials said the two men also would be discussing attempts to curb not only North Korea’s nuclear program but blunting Iran’s perceived ambitions to build an atomic bomb.

Obama would do well to remember that the Russian president is nothing more than a puppet. But then again, so is Obama. The odds of BHO being able to make a decision about anything are fairly slim, unless, of course, it involves destroy the U.S. To say the current occupant of the Oval Office is an embarrassment, is an understatement.

Republic VS Democracy

13 November 2009, 2:30 pm. 4 Comments. Filed under History.

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS

ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE,

WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL

Republic vs. Democracy

Rule by Law vs. Rule by Majority

Just after the completion and signing of the Constitution, in reply to a woman’s inquiry as to the type of government the Founders had created, Benjamin Franklin said, “A Republic, if you can keep it.”

Not only have we failed to keep it, most don’t even know what it is.

A Republic is representative government ruled by law (the Constitution).   A democracy is direct government ruled by the majority (mob rule).   A Republic recognizes the inalienable rights of individuals while democracies are only concerned with group wants or needs (the public good).

Lawmaking is a slow, deliberate process in our Constitutional Republic requiring approval from the House, Senate, Executive (President or Governor), The Supreme Court, and individual jurors (jury-nullification).   Lawmaking in our unlawful democracy occurs rapidly requiring approval from the whim of the majority as determined by polls and/or voter referendums.   Voter referendums allow legislators to blame bad law on the people.   A good example of democracy in action is a lynch mob.

Democracies always self-destruct when the non-productive majority realizes that it can vote itself handouts from the productive minority by electing the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury.   To maintain their power, these candidates must adopt an ever-increasing tax and spend policy to satisfy the ever-increasing desires of the majority.   As taxes increase, incentive to produce decreases, causing many of the once productive to drop out and join the non-productive.   When there are no longer enough producers to fund the legitimate functions of government and the socialist programs, the democracy will collapse, always to be followed by a Dictatorship.

Even though nearly every politician, teacher, journalist and citizen believes that our Founders created a democracy, it is absolutely not true.   The Founders knew full well the differences between a Republic and a Democracy.   They repeatedly and emphatically said that they had founded a Republic.

Article IV Section 4, of the Constitution “guarantees to every state in this union a Republican form of government”…. Conversely, the word Democracy is not mentioned even once in the Constitution.   Madison warned us of the dangers of democracies with these words,

“Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths…”,

“We may define a republic to be … a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure for a limited period, or during good behavior.   It is essential to such a government that it be derived from the great body of the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion or a favored class of it; otherwise a handful of tyrannical nobles, exercising their oppressions by a delegation of their powers, might aspire to the rank of republicans and claim for their government the honorable title of republic.” James Madison, Federalist No. 10, (1787)

“A wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance, nor wish it to prevail through the power of the majority.   There is but little virtue in the action of masses of men.” Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)

Our military training manuals used to contain the correct definitions of Democracy and Republic. The following comes from Training Manual No. 2000-25 published by the War Department, November 30, 1928.

DEMOCRACY:

REPUBLIC:

The manuals containing these definitions were ordered destroyed without explanation about the same time that President Franklin D. Roosevelt made private ownership of our lawful money (US Minted Gold Coins) illegal.   Shortly after the people turned in their $20 gold coins, the price was increased from $20 per ounce to $35 per ounce.   Almost overnight F.D.R., the most popular president this century (elected 4 times) looted almost half of this nation’s wealth, while convincing the people that it was for their own good.   Many of F.D.R.’s policies were suggested by his right hand man, Harry Hopkins, who said,

“Tax and Tax, Spend and Spend, Elect and Elect, because the people are too damn dumb to know the difference”.

How To Destroy The Economy: Support Unions

Big Labor Is Bankrupting Our Country
The Foundry

Last month when the White House released its visitor log for the first six months of the Obama presidency, one name appeared far more often than any other: Service Employee International Union (SEIU) President Andrew Stern. Stern has every right to expect to be welcome in the Obama White House. He has repeatedly bragged about the fact that under his leadership, the SEIU spent $60.7 million to elect Barack Obama president. And what is Stern buying with his $60.7 million besides White House tours? Ever expanding federal government programs and state government bailouts which are rapidly bankrupting our country.

Unlike his predecessor, John Sweeney, who came up the ranks after starting with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Stern entered the labor movement when the SEIU organized his shop when he was working as a welfare case worker for the State of Pennsylvania. Stern’s public sector entrance into labor is by no means an anomaly. In fact, for the first time ever in American history, preliminary estimates of union membership for 2009 show that most union members now work for either the local, state, or federal government.

An Intentional Insult

Five Sept. 11 Suspects to Face Trial in New York

Lawmakers and victims’ families expressed outrage Friday that President Obama has approved a recommendation to try self-proclaimed Sept. 11 architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay to New York to face trial in a civilian federal court.

“These terrorists planned and executed the mass murder of thousands of innocent Americans. Treating them like common criminals is unconscionable,” Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said in a statement.

Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to find that the current occupant of the Oval Office not only supports terrorists, but has the utter audacity to bring them to our shores! Just because they did not wear a recognizable military uniform, they surely wear a banner of their intentions.

Not only is this an insult to the victims, it is a complete disregard of the families, friends, and the entire population of America!

An aside: I don’t suppose either Holder or Obumbler considered the cost to the taxpayers of the security nightmare they are creating?  No, of course not!

I can’t add anything to J.D.’s column, so this is an entire copy and paste of his post today.

America Land of the Fomerly Free

America’s Enemy Within the Gates
By J. D. Longstreet

As I watched the aftermath of the shootings at Ft. Hood recently I, like so many other Americans, was aghast at the carnage wrought by America’s greatest enemy… “Political Correctness.” Say what you will but when the facts all come out, I am convinced the culprit will be none other than political correctness in our government, and in our military, in our religious community, in our educational community, in our religious communities, and yes, even in the communities, large or small, where the average American lives.

Political correctness is a loathsome enemy. It places a blindfold over the eyes of the societies it holds hostage and tells them what they would see if the blindfold were not there. The problem is, political correctness lies. It distorts truth. It twists realism until it rarely resembles anything real — at all.

Political correctness has so infiltrated this country and inculcated our populace until it has practically brought us to our knees. We cannot see straight, think straight, hear straight, nor act straight, ALL because this country has bought into moral relativism — political correctness.

Bredesen’s Bunker

12 November 2009, 5:57 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Taxes, Tennessee.

Bredesen’s Monument to Government Waste Unveiled Today

Governor Phil Bredesen and First Lady Andrea Conte will officially dedicate “Conservation Hall” this afternoon, marking an end to a facelift to the Tennessee Governor’s Mansion that turned into a disastrous boondoggle for taxpayers.

Repairs to the Governor’s Mansion began in 2005 with the worthy goal of making the residence more accessible for Tennesseans with disabilities. Unfortunately for taxpayers, Bredesen and Conte expanded the project to include a complete renovation of the home, featuring a $321,393 kitchen overhaul, $14,436 dimmer switches, nearly $11,000 for an upstairs wet bar and the addition of an entertainment venue – which became Conservation Hall. In total, the renovations cost an estimated $25 million, with tax dollars funding the bulk of the expense.

This is the ‘residence’ that could have been sold for a tidy profit and an actual historic home bought, perhaps saving a few bucks for the taxpayers of Tennessee. Over $300K on the kitchen alone?  That’s more than our house with a few acres of land cost us. Of course, it’s no mansion.

Johnson noted that the Governor’s Mansion was appraised in 2005 at a value of only $900,100 and the home holds no particular architectural or historical importance, serving as the governor’s residence for less than 60 years.

So, what was the purpose of this whole outrageous expenditure?

Unfortunately, despite budget shortfalls resulting in the layoffs of hundreds of state employees and a reduction of government services to Tennesseans, renovation of the mansion and construction of the Conservation Hall continued.

Well, I guess it’s a whole lot more important to waste millions of dollars on a structure worth less than a million than it is to preserve jobs, right?

“As the Governor dedicates Conservation Hall this evening, I hope he takes a moment to dedicate it to struggling single mothers whose tax dollars went to subsidize the lavish renovations, the former state employees whose jobs could’ve been saved if not for the cost of the bunker and the millions of taxpayers who will never be invited inside the mansion to see what they helped to fund,” Johnson said.

As far as Democrat governors go, he isn’t anywhere near as bad as some.  Then again, this sort of thoughtless spending of taxpayer money is typically Democrat.
