Evangelical Lutheran leader suggests Bible not the final authority
The presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is suggesting that the Bible isn’t the last word on homosexuality.
In a town hall meeting Sunday, Bishop Mark Hanson said, “the understanding we have of homosexuality today does not seem to be reflected at all in the context of the biblical writers.” Therefore, he said, Lutherans should consider more modern views on sexual orientation.
At its churchwide convention in August, the ELCA lifted its ban on partnered gay and lesbian clergy, prompting some traditional congregations to withhold funds and begin forming a separate denomination.
For a so called church leader to denounce God’s word is beyond unbelievable. God’s Word IS the final word. I am truly offended that anyone professing to be Christian would deny the Laws set down by the Creator.
Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Romans 1:26-28 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
I sincerely pray that members of this Lutheran synod will find new leadership. Or find a REAL church that follows the teachings of God, through his Word.













And that is EXACTLY why I am no longer a practicing Lutheran!
I was a member of WELS for a while, but when we moved down here, there were no churches available within a 3 hour drive. So, I found a great little church, right at the end of our driveway. It’s pretty much been my salvation!
After a long hunt and church hopping…I found a church in Coeur d’ Alene ID and they have been fantastic! I really wonder what happened to the Lutheran church. The one I grew up with as a kid in Detroit hasn’t been able to get a permanent Pastor in nearly 20 years! They have had nothing but interim Pastors because the church is such a mess…it inherited a substantial amount of money years ago and it tore the church apart and but financially has sustained it. Just breaks your heart and now this kind of stuff…all I can say is…no thanks.

No shit? Maybe thats because people today have no morals, values or concern with things like the afterlife. They think theyre too smart for God, that they can think their way out of going to hell, and that science is the be all end all.
What he wrote was about as intelligent as whining that nuclear war isnt mentioned directly in the bible.
I grew up in the Presbyterian church. Lemme tell ya, when they started with the “it’s ok to murder babies”, also known as abortion, I bid them a very UNfond farewell. I’ve been on the search for quite a few years, even through my liberal hippy days. I’m VERY proud to be a member of my church now. Love my pastor, his family, and all the members! They are great!
One problem we see in churches these days….members forget who is really in charge! And it ain’t them!
I wish the ELCA folks would take the “Lutheran” out of their name. Embarrassing.
Yes ma’am, Miss Wendy, it definitely is. My dad was a Lutheran, and I’m fairly sure he’d be spinning to think his fellow church members thought this was a good idea. Can’t remember which synod he was. Hey….I’m old, don’cha know.

My Norwegian Grandmother is spinning in her grave, right now. But she was a “traditional” Lutheran. What ever that is. I really don’t know. But having been born in1903 would have said something in and of itself, ya think?
I guess my dad was in that same “traditional” type too, since he was born in 1907. Yes, they got me when he was REAL old.
