Somali Man Charged With Attempted Murder for Attack on Cartoonist
A Somali man was charged with two counts of attempted murder on Saturday for an attack on a Danish artist whose 2005 cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad ignited riots and outrage across the Muslim world, authorities said.
The 28-year-old Somali man with ties to Al Qaeda broke into Kurt Westergaard’s home in Aarhus on Friday night armed with an ax and a knife, said Jakob Scharf, head of Denmark’s PET intelligence agency.
The 75-year-old artist, who has been targeted with several death threats since depicting the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb-shaped turban, pressed an alarm and fled with his 5-year-old granddaughter to a specially made safe room.
Are they talking about THIS ‘toon?
Don’t know what the problem is….looks just like the depictions of him before some yahoo decided it wasn’t a good idea and turned him into a god. Isn’t it the followers of this guy who are slapping bombs on their bodies, and wrapping their wanker with explosives, with the intent of blowing innocent people to smithereens?
I’m grateful that Westergaard and his granddaughter escaped unharmed!

No one was harmed so this doesn’t qualify as an actual terrorist attack. According to the scale provided by President Obama and his team, this was only a “potential” attack!
Well, I’m fairly sure you can guess what I’d say to Obumbler and company.
1. Well if this guy broke into the whitehouse and came after Obama, it certainly would be labled a terrorist attack.
2. When was the last time anyone saw a Christian breaking into someones house to murder them, because they made fun of Jesus? Thought so.
3. Im not quite sure why this moron doesnt get a gun. Id show the assassin why you dont bring a knife and axe to a gun fight.
Whats that you say…? They arent allowed to have guns? A nice example of socialism at work. How many people can afford to build special safe rooms in their house?? Why should we have to?
Food for thought.
I’d suggest it wasn’t necessarily terror since as of yet there is no proof of an organized effort and the target was a specific individual rather than random masses.
Yeah, and lack of success too. Attempted murder isn’t punished to the same degree as murder. Which never made sense to me since you’re just rewarding someone for being a lousy killer.
jim, did you bother to look at the ‘reasoning’ behind the action? It doesn’t have to have the backing of a large ‘organization’ to be an act of terror.
The really scary part about this – and it’s all scary – is that the 5-year-old granddaughter would also have been killed…..
Exactly Teresa, since they have no value for life at any age!
So Jim, according to you: one person cant “terrorize” other people?
Interesting.
