Usually when someone draws a cartoon of a person burning books, it’s being critical of the person burning them (namely because of the nazi book burnings).
It symbolizes a person being silenced.
Damn, you people are stupid…

John, did you have to practice being that ignorant, or does it come naturally? Evidently, you miss the entire point of the ‘toon. But then, what can one expect from the ill-informed.

Over in England, they’re burning books for fuel. They’re running out of traditional fuel. This isn’t a cartoon criticizing those people. It makes fun of Algore and the environmentalist wackos. Their tripe is the perfect stuff to burn for fuel.

Olbroad: It is you who missed the point. I’m saying that these people are stupid for not getting what I said. The cartoonist thought they were being clever by making a cartoon burning his book, but what it means when you burn a book, is that you are going against knowledge and discovery, that you are afraid of this opposition, and that you are trying to silence free speech. It’s been like this ever since the NAZI book burnings, and the cartoonist is stupid for not knowing that. She just exposed her own ignorance.
Peter: first par (about england and their fuel): They’re burning books for fuel in England? Where did you get this bit of info from pray tell?
second part: No shit they’re making fun of al-gore. I’m pointing out how incredibly stupid the cartoonist was.

Ol’ Broad,
I always love your editions of ‘Weasel Time.’
John,
Your argument is as bizarre as anything I’ve read in a while; a strange twist of Godwin’s Law.
”… what it means when you burn a book, is that you are going against knowledge and discovery, that you are afraid of this opposition, and that you are trying to silence free speech.” And here the freezing woman thought she was just trying to keep warm by using her own books for heat. She should have been righteous and frozen to death instead of burning a single sacred printed page. I assume that you believe where she’s going there will be plenty of unquenchable fire.

When the communist regime in Romania fell, people burned the ex-president’s books and all the printed speeches. Exactly how the catoonist did with algore’s books of lies. All communists’ books should be burned.

John, youre simply a pissy-pants because of the particular books she was burning. Ill bet my left pinky toe that if she were burning a Rush Limbaugh book, youd think it was just downright hilarious. You are a hypocrite, and lack even the god given common sense of a goose to understand a simple point being made in a cartoon.
(If Global Warming is real, then why is everyone freezing to death with record low temps and record snowfall every year? Not to mention this past summer was the coolest on record, in 20 + years?)

You also make alot of assumptions. That makes an ‘ass’ out of you and ‘umptions’.
People can burn books for many reasons, not just protesting anything. Maybe someone is a pyro? Maybe they are bored and have matches to waste?
Maybe she realizes there isnt ANYTHING that can be learned from those books, being as the “scientific data” is not only falsified, but half of the time completely made up, to fool people like you.
Pull your head out of Al Gores ass, and you might see whats going on in the world.
