That Old Obama Magic Is Back
by Ann Coulter

Once again, the people have spoken, and this time they quoted what Dick Cheney said to Pat Leahy.

Less than two weeks ago, The New York Times said that so much as a “tighter-than-expected” victory for Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Martha Coakley would incite “soul-searching among Democrats nationally,” which sent Times readers scurrying to their dictionaries to look up this strange new word, “soul.”

A close win for Coakley, the Times said, would constitute “the first real barometer of whether problems facing the party” will affect the 2010 elections.

But when Coakley actually lost the election by an astounding 5 points, the Chicago boys in the White House decided it was the chick’s fault.

I know it’s old news….

…..but it’s just too flippin’ funny!

It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business.

Ya know, I was really surprised to find out they were still on the air at all.

Just a Few Shots – Day 1

21 January 2010, 2:28 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under Travel.

After basically being catatonic last night, the Mr and I got a fairly decent night’s sleep.  I wouldn’t say we were rarin’ to go this morning, but it was a definite improvement.  Coffee always helps, and Blue Mountain coffee will definitely aid in the process.

We moseyed on over to the goofy ‘orientation’, where they want to sell you all kinds of touristy trips and such, actually getting there too early. Waste time, smoke a cigarette, take a picture or two.  There was at least one tour that peaked both our interest, but we shall see.

NO, I will NOT be climbing that ‘rock wall’!

We managed to find our way to the buffet. Hey. We were hungry! Nice view for lunch, eh? :)

Since we got here so late last night, neither of us noticed what was right beside our room.

Yup.  That’s razor wire.  Well, I guess better safe than sorry, right?

We got back just in time to peak through the window and see housekeeping decorating the bed.

Ain’t that cute!  :D

This is really a nice room.  Didn’t hurt there was a HUGE sale going on either.  But I have to ask…..why do we need a stove?  I mean seriously.  There are no pots and pans, no utensils, so what purpose does it serve?

Do they really think we’re gonna come all the way down here, where all meals are provided, and cook???? PFFT!! Fat chance of that happening! If I don’t cook at home, do ya think I’d cook on vacation? Heh.

I need a nap!

Intellectuals, Elitists, Fools, Democrats
by J. D. Longstreet

The intellectual elitists in charge of the US government these days have amply demonstrated “There is no fool like an educated fool.” The socialists in the White House and the Congress currently are the most condescending bunch I can ever recall taking up space in those grandiose halls of power. They show their disdain for us, the great unwashed, the proletariat, the hillbillies, the red necks, all of us from the lower economic and social classes, in ways too numerous to count.  I am reminded of an old story of an over-eager young man who tries, repeatedly, to help an elderly lady across the street, even though the elderly lady DID NOT WANT TO CROSS THE STREET!

The socialists in Washington are doing the very same thing with ObamaCare. They are forcing it upon us when we, the American people, have said, loudly and clearly, we DO NOT WANT IT!

A Poem Worth Reading

21 January 2010, 7:50 am. 8 Comments. Filed under Heroes.

He was getting old and paunchy
And his hair was falling fast,
And he sat around the Legion,
Telling stories of the past.

Of a war that he once fought in
And the deeds that he had done,
In his exploits with his buddies;
They were heroes, every one.

And ‘tho sometimes to his neighbors
His tales became a joke,
All his buddies listened quietly
For they knew where of he spoke.

But we’ll hear his tales no longer,
For ol’ Joe has passed away,
And the world’s a little poorer
For a Soldier died today.

Another “Blogging Lite” Notice

19 January 2010, 7:07 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under Travel.

Yep!  Once again, we are off on an adventure.  Right now, we are sitting in a hotel in Memphis, right outside the Memphis International Airport!  Oddly enough, it’s actually kind of quite.  I would have thought that we’d be hearing planes going over head on a regular basis.  Nope.  The only time we heard one was when we were outside.  Cool.  :)

I have to get out of bed at 5:30am?  Oh Lord, give me strength!  But since we have to be at the airport no later than 7:30, to catch our 9:30 flight, it’s probably a good idea.  Yes, we have a wake up call, and YES, I WILL be in bed, asleep by at least 10pm!  Keep yer fingers crossed.

Once we arrive in Jamaica, from previous experience, it’ll probably be 6 or 7 by the time we get to our destination, Ocho Rios, unless of course, they’ve finished that road they were working to expand 4 years ago.  :?

So, you see, I’ll be out of touch all day tomorrow.  Now, if I have any sense at all, I won’t be doing a whole lot of posting for the next two weeks.  Well, unless, of course, it’s raining.  :(   Naturally, I’ll be posting some pictures, mostly to irritate the bejabbers outta Chris up there in the tundra!  Heh.  I couldn’t tell ya why it’s so much fun to annoy her….it just is.  :P

Obama: Our Cold and Distant President
by J. D. Longstreet

Remember how the press was insisting during the 2008 presidential campaign, that Obama was sooo coooool? Oh, yeah, “cool, man, cool!”

Got news for you. He ain’t “cool.” He’s “C O L D!” And he is “distant” to boot.

We tried to tell you the man was, and is, a Narcissist. EVERYTHING is about him. He is cold toward everyone else because no one besides him, of course, has any value.

I’ve noticed recently in his speeches, he refers to “MY” national Security Team. “My” director of whatever department…. and so on. The emphasis is on “MY”. And that is the way our president is. Hey, THIS is the guy with his finger on the Nuclear Button!

OHMYGAWED! What have we done??

Queen Nanny Speaks

Pelosi: “We will have healthcare — one way or another”

Given what looks like the impending loss of the party’s Senate supermajority, Democrats have reason to be down in the dumps about healthcare reform. But if that’s the way House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s feeling, she’s not showing it publicly.

“Let’s remove all doubt, we will have healthcare one way or another,” Pelosi said during an event in San Francisco on Monday. “Certainly the dynamic would change depending on what happens in Massachusetts. Just the question about how we would proceed. But it doesn’t mean we won’t have a health care bill.”

Dear Lord!  The arrogance of that woman is just astounding!  When at LEAST 56% of the voting public say no, and 44% are saying HELL NO, wouldn’t you think an elected official would listen to their bosses?  If your boss, you know, the one that pays your salary, tells you not to do something, would you just go right on ahead and do it anyway?  Odds are, no…. unless you wanted to get fired.

Well, Mzzzzzzzzz Pelosi, as far as I’m concerned…..YOU ARE FIRED!  I will be working really hard to ensure a Democrat defeat come November, and your position as Speaker of the House will, hopefully, go to someone who has the good sense to remember just WHO he, or she, works for, and you, my dear, will crawl back under that rock where you belong!

When Push Comes To Shove….

19 January 2010, 9:35 am. Comments Off. Filed under Health Care, Opinion, Politics, Senate, Socialism.

….shove back HARD! For those the followers of Karl Marx, and Mao Tse Tong, the change that has been shoved down our throats might be a step in the right direction. For the rational, freedom loving folks, which by the way, IS the majority, this isn’t what we bargained for at all! It’s not just the health care fiasco, it’s the whole ‘road to socialism’ we object to. One can only pray, and encourage the voters of Massachusetts, to help put a stop to the total destruction of our nation.

Health Care in the Balance as Ground Shifts Under Obama
The Foundry

One year ago, President Barack Obama delivered his inaugural address at the foot of the Capitol, laid out an agenda of “big plans” for his administration, and chided “cynics” who “fail to understand that the ground has shifted beneath them.” One year later, as voters head to the ballot box in Massachusetts, it seems that the ground very well may have shifted under President Obama.

And that ground shift might spell trouble for the President’s health care magnum opus.

In a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll released yesterday, President Obama’s approval ratings have “plummeted to 50%, down from 64% after he took office,” giving him an average 57% approval rating for the year and placing Obama “nearly last in the ranking of former presidents’ first-year job approval averages.”

Little Helper?

18 January 2010, 3:48 pm. 17 Comments. Filed under Critters.

I’ve spent the majority of the day trying to get all the laundry finished before we leave tomorrow for Memphis, and head out to Jamaica early Wednesday morning for two glorious weeks for sun, fun, and just a plain, good ol’ fashioned, vacation.  So, of course, while I want to make sure we have clean sheets for the bed when we get home, I’d also like to get ‘em folded, so we won’t have wrinkled sheets.  I know, who cares if they’re wrinkled, right?  Well, I think it’s something my mother got embedded in my head as a child.  Hey…at least I don’t IRON ‘em, like she insisted.  Pfft!  Fat chance of THAT ever happening.

So, while trying to do my job….I get attitude from a feline.  Big shocker, eh?  Gee, our kitties aren’t spoiled….much.

And to add insult to injury, one of the little guys is sick.  Problem is, we can’t figure out which one, so they are both off to the vet’s this afternoon for a good once over.  Come hell or high water, we WILL be on that plane Wednesday.  :D

New Amnesty Bill referred to as: “IMMIGRATION REFORM!
by J. D. Longstreet

Between now an the November Mid-term election Americans can prepare for yet another attempt by the democrats to shove through the Congress an Amnesty for Illegal Aliens bill. Oh, it won’t be called that, of course, but in essence, that will be exactly the intent of the bill. Look for a bill with the keywords “Immigration Reform” in it.

The fact is, the Dems want the votes of the illegal aliens and the Republicans want the cheap labor. That be over simplification, but it sure does get at the truth of the matter.

Back last summer we warned this would happen. Now, I’m just an Ole Country Boy, down here in the swamps of North Carolina, and I saw it coming, even then. You see, the Obama Regime and the socialist Congress have been using the old magician’s trick of misdirection to attempt to move unsavory legislation through the congress and signed into law before you and I figure out what hit us. At least SOME Americans have awakened to their underhanded methods are crying “foul!” I’m just one of them.

I am so sick of people sneaking into this country and expecting us to be all lovey dovey towards them.  I am beyond disgusted by the people who are supposedly committed to protect the CITIZENS of this country from harm are the very ones who would see harm done.  I don’t give a flying flip what your country of origin might be, Mexico, Ireland, China….whatever.  If you can’t come in through the front door, LEGALLY, get your sorry ass out of my country!  I am revolted by an administration who would target an elected law enforcement officer who stands by his oath.

Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, and start screaming “racist”, “bigot”, etc., think about this….it’s not only people “just looking for a better life” who are sneaking in through the sieve that are our borders. It’s also potential terrorists who would blow your children into so many pieces, you’d have to use a mop to clean them up, and slit your throat not thinking twice. It’s drug dealers who have been waging war against the innocents in Mexico, who kidnap and murder on a regular basis.

We are a land of laws. When the so called powers that be go out of their way to break our own laws, then it’s past time to replace them with those who take our Constitution seriously. Reagan was wrong to grant amnesty, and so is Obama!
