On the precipice
by Mark Steyn

I’ve been out of the country for a couple of days, so let me see if I’ve got this right: America’s preparing to celebrate the first anniversary of Good King Barack the Hopeychanger’s reign by electing a Republican?

In Massachusetts?

In what the tin-eared plonkers of the Democrat machine still insist on calling “Ted Kennedy’s seat”?

Remember the good old days when the glossy magazine covers competed for the most worshipful image of the new global colossus? If you were at the Hopeychange inaugural ball on Jan. 20, 2009, when Barney Frank dived into the mosh pit, and you chanced to be underneath when he landed, and you’ve spent the last year in a coma until suddenly coming to in time for the poll showing some unexotically monikered nobody called Scott Brown whose only glossy magazine appearance was a Cosmopolitan pictorial 30 years ago (true) four points ahead in Kennedy country, you must surely wonder if you’ve woken up in an alternative universe. The last thing you remember before Barney came flying down is Harry Reid waltzing you around the floor while murmuring sweet nothings about America being ready for a light-skinned brown man with no trace of a Negro dialect. And now you’re in some dystopian nightmare where Massachusetts is ready for a nude-skinned Brown man with no trace of a Kennedy dialect.

Read the rest here.

Methinks we ‘knuckle draggers’ have been sorely underestimated.  One would like to believe that now we will be listened to when we shout at the top of our lungs “NO”, but how can they hear if they’re in their castle, with the draw bridge up, and fingers in their ears?  “la la la la la  I can’t HEAR you!”

America Has Become A Nation Ruled By Emotion Rather Than Reason!
by J. D. Longstreet

We have “Europeanized” America. In November of 2006 America placed the crowning achievement of the Socialist movement, a Democrat/Socialist government, in charge of America. They offered, “cradle to the grave” Nanny Statehood to America and… Americans bought it! Karl Marx has finally triumphed over reason in America!

It no longer matters that socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried on the globe, Americans “felt” they wanted the promises Socialism offered. Never mind the fact that socialism cannot deliver, just the fact that the socialist/democrats made the promises was an emotional boost to that half of our nation who are so unable to think, work, or produce anything without the government underwriting their entire existence.

Just look at the crowds lusting after Obama! They WANT something. They want to RECEIVE something, to GET something, from the government. Something FREE! Never mind that there is no such thing. They’re not bright enough to grasp that concept. Hope? Hope for WHAT, exactly? Change? Change to what exactly?

Grrrrrrrr

16 January 2010, 7:24 pm. 2 Comments. Filed under Friends & Family.

Jr and I spent the day wandering through Wally World, where she went in one direction, and I ended up hunting for her for a good half hour.  You’d think if I said “Go put that back where you found it”, she’d have enough sense to return to the place where she left me, right?  WRONG!  She decided to take the long way back around.  Pfft!  TEENAGERS!  I have to ask….why do teenage girls have to have socks that look like Pippi Longstocking rejects?

Naturally, there must always be a trip to the book store!  It’s like a rule!  It’s genetic!  The draw is too great to resist!  I only found two paperbacks, where as Jr found all kinds of things to peak her interest.  Of course, we ended up spending as much there than at the Mart.

Then, it was off to the movies.  Here’s where the REAL grrrrrrrr comes in!  If you are going to pay your money to watch a movie, please, explain to me why you must sit there and text through the whole freakin’ thing?????????  And I don’t just mean one person.  There were at least 4 or 5 doing it.  Do you have any idea how bright that bloomin’ light is in a dark theater?  Have a little common courtesy!  It’s not that difficult!

So, what did we see?  Well, she’s a teenager, right?  We had to go see New Moon!  Amusing to say the least.  The books are much better than the movies.  Ok, I admit it, I had to see what all the hoopla was about, so I bought the set.  Talk about an easy read.  Heh.  But hey, I like the theater of the mind in various forms, so why the heck not!

Now, it’s time to dry off (we both got fairly damp after running/waddling through the rain), and get comfy.  I wonder if she’d notice that I put in some ear plugs?  Dang, that girl yaps a LOT!  And as most teenagers do, says nothing at all!  sigh….

I’m spending the weekend with Jr, aka oldest granddaughter, so instead of spending time on the computer, we’re gonna do some shopping, go to a movie, and find various ways to stuff our faces, and yap, like female tend to do.  Not to say I won’t be putting something or another up, but my usual Saturday Afternoon links will probably be extremely short, or nonexistent.  Pray for my nerves!  Heh.

2008 flashback: ACORN graded Coakley A+

Mass Resistance has dug up an interesting press release in Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley’s political past. In 2008 Ms. Coakley sent out an endearing press release praising the now scandal embroiled ACORN.:

“I am honored to have received this recognition from ACORN,” said Attorney General Coakley.  “As our office continues to fight predatory lending practices, it is important for local, state, and federal officials, as well as others to work together to try and provide relief and real solutions to individuals who face the threat of foreclosure.”

Ms. Coakley is the top law enforcer of Massachusetts, and her support of ACORN’s practices makes one wonder where her ethical compass actually rests in matters of how she handled the licensing of non-profits in her state as well as being responsible for the reporting and financial disclosures of those groups.

ACORN supporting this woman, in any capacity, speaks volumes about her character, or lack thereof!

The Building Blocks

In Power Push, Movement Sees Base in G.O.P.

The Tea Party movement ignited a year ago, fueled by anti-establishment anger. Now, Tea Party activists are trying to take over the establishment, ground up.

Across the country, they are signing up to be Republican precinct leaders, a position so low-level that it often remains vacant, but which comes with the ability to vote for the party executives who endorse candidates, approve platforms and decide where the party spends money.

Since basically, the U.S. is a two party system, even though there are many registered political parties, the idea is to work within the system, to return to our foundations. If you look at it logically, it’s the bricks on the very bottom that hold the building up. Remove those bricks, the building collapses.

“If you want to have revenge against the Republican Party for using you for so many years, the best way is to turn around and use the Republican Party to your advantage,” said Eric Odom, a Tea Party activist in Chicago who recently started a political action committee, and on his blog urged Tea Partiers to stop complaining about the Republican Party and “move in and take it over.”

Exactly! My anger towards the Republican Party has not lessened, and I withdrew my support. I haven’t sent a dime to the party for years, and have no intention of doing so now. HOWEVER, I WILL support, financially, individual candidates with an “R” behind their names, local, state, and national, that reflect the values of true conservatism. I will also be working with the local groups to retake the party from the inside!

“It puts in stark relief where the American people are, how they feel and what they feel,” Mr. Steele said. “It’s important for our party to appreciate and understand that so we can move toward it, and embrace it.”

I’ll admit, I was quite hopeful that Mr Steele would guide the party back to it’s stated principles, but that hasn’t been the case. If he is just now waking up to the base of the party, that fled in droves, then welcome to the party, but why should we trust you now?

Not all Republicans agree. Some say the party needs to broaden its reach, not cater to the fringe.

Psst! WE are not the fringe! Those who want to abandon the values and principles are, and I guess that would include the assjacks that make such statements.  The way I see it, if the moonbats, the leftist loons, could take over the Democrat Party, why can’t the rational pro-Constitutional retake the Republican Party?

Note To Massachusetts Voters

Should you vote for a woman who, if elected, swears to uphold a document she obviously hasn’t read, or has no understanding?

After discussing her “Mission Accomplished” remark regarding Afghanistan, I moved to the healthcare issue. I chose this based on her vitriolic campaign  attack on Scott Brown’s participation in a bill allowing medical people with religious principles to find another emergency room care provider to administer a pill or service to end the life of an unborn in the womb. I figured her guarded answer to date would be interesting but she outdid herself….

Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches that any form of birth control is a sin. ah you don’t want to do that.

Martha Coakley: No we have a seperation of church and state Ken, lets be clear.

Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom.

Martha Coakley: (……uh, eh…um..) The law says that people are allowed to have that. You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.

Source.

Perhaps Mzzzzzz Coakley should actually try reading the 1st Amendment a time or two.  I doubt it will help, but you never can tell.  So, maybe someone should explain to her that NO WHERE in that document do the words “separation of church and state” appear.  NO WHERE!  Evidently, this woman, who has a rather shady past, to say the least, is telling people with strong conviction of faith, where they can, and cannot work?  I’d say that anyone who has such limited knowledge of the founding of this nation, should NOT be allowed to hold office.  That would take care of a great deal of Washington, D.C.

Whatcha think?  Send the whole bunch home, start from scratch, and leave the political machines on the cutting floor.  And for the love of all that’s holy, do NOT elect more of the same!!!!!!

Should Unions Be Dictating The Health Care Debate?

14 January 2010, 3:42 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Crime, Dhimmicrats, Feckless Weasels, Health Care, Pond Scum, Socialism, Taxes, The ONE.

Tentative deal reached on health insurance tax

The White House reached a tentative agreement with union leaders early Thursday to tax high-cost insurance plans, officials said, removing one of the major stumbling blocks in the way of a final compromise on comprehensive health care legislation sought by President Barack Obama.

Here is an obvious question that should be asked: What the hell are the unions doing negotiating agreements on HEALTH CARE?? It is NONE of their freakin’ business to be butting into anything coming out of D.C. They have absolutely NO say in how people get health care, pay their insurance premiums, or whether or not they even HAVE insurance. NONE! ZIP! ZILCH!

Under the tentative compromise, a family’s health insurance plan would be subject to a hefty 40 percent tax if it costs over $24,000 per year, an increase from the $23,000 annual threshold in a previous version of the legislation. The cost of dental and vision care would be subtracted from the calculation yielding the total cost of a family’s plan.

Where, pray tell, does it say in the Constitution that the U.S. government has the right to dictate to their BOSSES anything to do with health care, much less a socialist bunch like unions?  To tax a person’s health care is reprehensible.

Additionally, union members and state and local government employees with high-end insurance plans would not have to pay the tax until 2017.

If you had any doubts about the ulterior motives of this administration, perhaps this little tidbit will snap you out of your stupor! 15% of the working population are union members. A good number of those members are forced into the union thanks, in large part, to states who do not have ‘right to work’ laws.

Union officials are also pushing to provide that anyone who makes $200,000 or less would be excluded from the health plan benefits tax, a concession that would also benefit employees who are not unionized.

For anyone to be TAXED on their health benefits, no matter how much they earn, is insanity! Pure and simple. It is NOT the job of the government to provide health care for anyone! It is NONE of the union’s business who gets what, when, or for how much.

To say I’m angry right now, would be a massive understatement!
