Mini Weasel Time
Jamaica – Day 12
It wouldn’t have been a trip to Jamaica without a trip downtown to the “duty free” shops. So, off we went. There was certainly nothing we needed, but we did manage to come up with a few items, none of which I will post right now. Heh.
Dang! It was HUMID down there! And if I say it’s unbearably humid, you can bet yer bottom dollar, it….was…..HUMID! Luckily, all the shops are air conditioned, so whether or not I really wanted to look at anything in the shop, I managed to worm my way in, just to dry off under the a/c.
Ok, I admit it, not only do I NOT like the cold, and I’m none too fond of humidity either. Granted, it’s good for the skin, but who wants to be wringing wet all the time.
I thought, since I haven’t been taking any pictures of beach and pool views, with semi nekkid womens, I’d post this one for the guys.
HAPPY MONDAY!

The Obama Budget: Higher Taxes, Higher Spending and More Debt
The Foundry
President Barack Obama will submit a $3.8 trillion budget proposal for fiscal 2011 to Congress today. One might hope that given last year’s $1.4 trillion budget deficit was an all-time high and the President promised a spending “freeze” in last week’s State of the Union, this budget might signal a change in direction from the White House. No such luck. President Obama’s new budget is full of billions of dollars in new spending for failed government programs, higher taxes on American families and businesses, and deficit spending for as far as the eye can see.
I AM AN AMERICAN!
American First, Last, and Always!
A Citizen of the World, NOT!
by J. D. Longstreet
A recent commenter on one of my articles took me to task for not realizing that I am a citizen of the world FIRST — and a citizen of America SECOND!
How wrong he is! If you subscribe to world citizenship first, then you, too are wrong.
My allegiance is to America. I don’t give a rat’s behind what the remainder of the countries on this globe does. It is none of my concern — right up to the point they insist on making trouble for America. It is then that we must send the “United States WORLD Police Force” to clean up the mess the offending country, or countries, has made. I sometimes think our US Navy aircraft carriers should be painted black and white as are our police cruisers. Maybe we could install a gigantic blue flashing light on the carrier’s tallest radio mast. Impressive, what?
I am an admitted isolationist. If I could, I would build a wall around the US and invite the rest of the world to take a hike. Alas, I cannot. I am also a realist and I understand the interconnectedness of America with the rest of the world. I don’t like it, but I understand it. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Look, individuals who prized their independence and self-reliance settled America. They had no desire to be citizens of the world. Our forefathers warned us of “foreign entanglements.” The original America was designed to stand-alone. It was during the war for Independence from Great Britain that we began “entangling” ourselves with European countries as we sought allies to assist in our fight with the British world superpower. We have not been able to disengage since.
Last June, at a fundraiser in Washington, DC, Newt Gingrich is reported to have said: “I am not a citizen of the world. I think the entire concept is intellectual nonsense and stunningly dangerous!”
I was born in Dallas, Texas. That makes me a citizen of the U.S. of A. I wasn’t born in London, England, which would make me a British ‘subject’. Nor, was I born in some obscure village in the Amazon. Dallas. Texas. I’m a bona fide Texan. Texas is part of the U.S. I’m an American! I am NOT a Worlder. The concept is so foreign to my thinking, I cannot comprehend the mindset of someone who believes they are a ‘citizen of the world’. Do they have multiple passports? 192? 196? Wouldn’t that make for some tough packing when you travel?
A large number of my ancestors escaped the tyranny of European rule. The rest of them were here waiting when they arrived. I am NOT an Irish-Indian-French-American! I AM AN AMERICAN! It’s that simple. The rest of the world can do what they please, but leave us the hell alone! As independent minded Americans, we tend to shudder at the shackles of socialism/communism, and will fight to our death to prevent such a thing, to protect our families and homes. If you believe you are a ‘citizen of the world’, you might want to look into immigrating elsewhere. You know, the type of place that will have no problem telling you how to live, where to spend your money, what job you can do, how your children will be educated, and even what you are allowed to eat. There are plenty of places like that to choose from these days.
Gee, Y’Think??
Perhaps next time, Newt will actually look a little deeper at the candidate, instead of just at the “R”! Not all R’s are for Right!
“They were right. At the time, as a party builder and someone who has always been trying to help build the party, it struck me that she was the local nominee. She turned out to be a huge disappointment. And she turned out not to be frankly a loyal Republican.”
“And I think that those folks have the better of that argument.
“It’s very important, though, not to get into a business where if you’re not exactly perfect, I can’t be for you. Scott Brown has been an enormously important victory, but the fact is Scott Brown, on many issues, would not meet a 100 percent purity test. But his victory was stunningly important for all of us.”
“In the case of Scozzafava, she is an enormous disappointment. She had some positions that were far more radical than I realized at the time. And I think in retrospect, it was probably a mistake.”
Probably? Pfft! How ’bout BIG time mistake!
