Rep. Murtha Dead at 77

Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. John Murtha, the first veteran of the Vietnam war and one of the most powerful lawmakers in Congress, died Wednesday morning at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA, after complications from gallbladder surgery. Murtha was 77.

Wednesday morning? You mean he’s been dead for 5 days, and someone is just now getting around to telling the public?  Today is Monday, right?  I’m very confused.

UPDATE:  Evidently, that was a major typo, and they’ve now changed it to Monday afternoon.

I’ve been trying to think of something nice to say about the guy, but to be perfectly honest, nothing comes to mind.

Yikes! And here I thought respect for the dead, and especially dead vets, was a conservative value.

To quote a commenter on Fred’s siteWhat a man does while he wears the Uniform may be honorable but what he does afterward defines his character.

It was Murtha’s AFTER that brought his the greatest hatred, but he was NOT a Marine of character, he was for Murtha, 1st, last and always…

In other words, he was an ASSHOLE, and occasionally, even the USMC has one rise through the ranks…

    Just John Says:

There’s a saying among my fellow Marines: “Once a Marine, always a Marine, except for John Fv%&ing Murtha!”

And THAT my friends is the truth, the whole truth and nothing BUT the truth! Semper Fi John…

Why should we respect someone who a was a piece of crap when they were alive, just because theyre dead? Thats completely moronic.

Like all the Michael Jackson hype. It made me ill. He was more than likely doing inappropriate things with children, had some nutjob fetish with plastic surgery, dangled babies from windows up high, bleached his skin, tried to look like a woman, collected VERY odd things (the elephant mans skeleton??)  etc.

If you were a jackass in life, you should be referred to one even after you die.
