National parks, fine.
Taking my tax money and buying private planes, private airports, bailing out companies that shouldnt be bailed out, social programs that the majority of Americans dont want or agree with, etc etc = bad.

IMHO, Tim, that interpretation wouldn't be entirely accurate, unless mail is being transported.

If we are able to return to a Republic, then perhaps many of the problems we are seeing these days would, not necessarily be solved, but on the road to repair.

Shadow how do you feel about the National Park system?
And the constitution says postal roads and many interpret that as including airways, highways, railways, and even ship canals.

The fed govt isnt supposed to do anything more than build roads and defend us from invaders, foreign AND domestic.
Instead we have this giant, power mad money gobbling octopus from HELL thats trying to control everything from what we drive to what we wear and eat.

Just my point olbroad, I think on many issues, it’s best to let the people decide. Now clearly there are some exceptions such as issues of national defense but I think that we should have more of a say on issues such as education, immigration, environment, etc.

In a Republic, the House of Representatives are suppose to impose the will of the people. Sadly, those currently resting their behinds in those hallowed halls are NOT doing their proposed job. What you are suggesting with the mass voting would be a democracy. Although, I agree, since the reps are NOT doing the job for which they were elected, it might not be a bad idea to put it before the people.

But in response to the specifics, the Constitution goes beyond the Preamble. It was written to limit the power of the Federal government, and the feds are circumventing at every turn.

Tim it actually says in the constitution, that what isnt directly stated as powers given to the federal government, is left to the people, the cities and states.
But like everything else congress does, they circumvent the constitution. Its an obastacle to them, not rules to govern by.

Wouldn’t it be nice if some of the decisions made on some of these issues were put to the voters? I mean that happens at State and Local levels from time to time, why not at the Federal Level. I mean I don’t want to see government run health care either, but I would also not be against letting the voters have a say in the matter. I say let the voters have a say in immigration reform, after all it’s their tax money at stake is it not?

I take it from what you wrote above as well as the comic you published earlier that you were disappointed with the recent Supreme Court decision. I was too. I do not consider myself to be a liberal or a conservative, more center stage, but I was outraged by that decision. Now you can kiss immigration reform goodbye.
