An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Facts Can Be Scary
Is the Great ‘Global Warming’ Snowjob Finally Coming to an End?
As the east coast recovers from Snowpocalypse, some global warming alarmists have said that we shouldn’t read too much into the blizzards. We can’t draw broad conclusions about climate change based on particular storms or regional weather trends. You know what? They’re right.
Now there is irony in the fact that the blizzards hit just as the President announced the formation of the Climate Service, charged with managing and coordinating the effects of “climate change.” But that’s all it is: irony. Snowpocalypse neither proves nor disproves the theory that human activities are disastrously effecting earth’s climate, but it did provide an opportunity for several conservative commentators, like Limbaugh and Hannity, to crack wise at the expense of the alarmists.
Chris Matthews wagged his finger at such jocularity, piously declaring that “…the average global temperature last year was the second highest on record…” and that “…cold weather in one area over several days doesn’t change the reality of what’s happening to this planet…” You know what? He’s right too. Well, Chris was right as far as he goes.
Unfortunately, Matthews stopped short of explaining the whole story, which this scientist finds rather disappointing coming from a fellow who, like me, boasts a Jesuit university as an alma mater. Perhaps Chris missed those critical thinking lessons that the Jesuits try to impart on eager young students.

As I’ve stated MANY times, the government has no interest in the climate, health care, or any number of other issues they are trying to ram down our throats. It’s all about control. Control of the world’s finances, control of their “subjects’, control of our children so they can turn them into good little socialists robots. Unfortunately, due to the lack of voters ability to pay attention and parenting skills on the part of many of our fellows citizens, they are succeeding.
I would suggest to Tingles that he get his head out of Obama’s ass, and start doing his own research. It’s really not that difficult. For the time being, you can find just about everything on the internet, and that includes THOUSANDS of dissenters to the ‘warming’ scam. I’m not talking about people like me, who know algore is full of male bovine excrement. I’m talking about actual SCIENTISTS, who have made it their life’s work to find truth.

ok I gotta point out the inaccuracy of this chart, just like I would a global scorching person.
If Im not mistaken, we not only didnt have thermometers in 1000 AD, but I doubt any weather patterns were recorded for serious consideration or study. People had way more things to keep them busy, like surviving day to day, rather than try to figure barometric pressure or average rainfall. Even up until 2 or 300 years ago Im sure the weather “expert” was the local fool standing in the center of town, who’d stick his wet finger in the air, or look around and go “yep. snows deep.”
If anyone can prove me wrong here, feel free.
I wouldnt consider any weather pattern recordings before the last 100 years to be reliable at all.
Ya don’t have to have a thermometer to gauge the temperature for the past 1000 years.
really? What exactly are we relying on then?
Youre not going with that “tree ring” stuff, are you? That is certainly not a scientific fact, its a hypothesis. Just like guessing how old dinosaur bones are. Until we build a time machine, we will have no way of knowing for CERTAIN what the temperature was in say, 1135 AD.
Remember, all the information we get comes from people who not only cant agree whether Pluto is a planet, but are still discovering new species almost everyday and cant even agree what is CURRENTLY happening with our climate. (scientists in general)
We can make a guess, assume, get data from a hypothesis, maybe even get fairly close in some instances, but to tell the ACTUAL temperature back then? GLOBALLY?
No way Jose.
and the chart shows what came before 1000 AD even.
Well, considering they had vineyards in Medieval England, I would say it had to be fairly warm. There’s also a lot of written records and archaeological evidence too.
Yes, like I said Im sure theres SOME documentation, but how would they have known in 1300 in England what the temperature was? Ill do some looking into this. Ill be the first to admit Im wrong if I find that there is some better method of knowing the temp back then rather than some scribbling on some parchment. It will be interesting to look into.
Ok so according to wikipedia ( I see no reason why the information here would be falsified) The earliest type of thermometer that was remotely reliable was around 1650, although they had them before that, it says they were subject to air pressure.

SB, do you not take your coat off when you are hot? You don’t need a thermometer to tell you you are sweating.
The debate wasnt “gee, its warm / cold.” Im pointing out how (to my knowledge) we dont have any way to know what the exact temp was 1000 years ago. “It was warm” could be anything between 65 and 105. My wife says shes cold all the time, and the thermostat will read 70.
I dont buy this anymore than I buy libs telling me were gonna burn up.
aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggg!!! sigh….
Grape vines don’t grow in cold weather.
