Would you bury your child for your ideology?

Ideology to Die For

It is a truism to say that there are many anti-gun ideologues among our educational elites. But few are as honest as Doug Van Gorder – a math teacher at Brockton High School. He admits that he would rather lose a child than exercise his right to defend himself with a gun. In the wake of a recent school shooting, he wrote this in a Letter to the Editor of the Boston Globe:

Some propose overturning laws that made schools gun-free zones even for teachers who may be licensed to securely carry concealed firearms elsewhere. They argue that barring licensed-carry only ensures a defenseless, target-rich environment. But as a progressive, I would sooner lay my child to rest than succumb to the belief that the use of a gun for self-defense is somehow not in itself a gun crime.

Morally speaking, I have no problem with anti-gun ideologues who wish to place themselves in peril by waiving their rights of self-defense. You almost have to respect someone who is willing to die for his beliefs. But when he decides that others should also die for his beliefs the real trouble begins.

What I think of, when I hear a assjack like this, after the four lettered words, is “are any of these people paying attention?”  I guess this is another from the lame stream who has never bothered reading the U.S. Constitution, and the LIMITS it puts on a centralized government.  Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez!

When, In The Course Of Human Events….

Obama to Seek Curbs on Insurance Hikes

Seeking to revive his stalled health-care legislation, President Barack Obama is proposing a new idea to address health costs, giving the federal government authority to block insurers from making premium rate increases.

Whoa! Hold on there Skippy! Where do you get off telling private companies what they can, and cannot do? Where in the Constitution does it state you have this authority?

The move raises the ante after two weeks of presidential bashing of rate increases including WellPoint Inc.’s decision to raise premiums for some California customers by as much as 39%. WellPoint has defended its price increase as unavoidable in light of rising health costs.

California. The land of fruits, nuts, flakes and socialists! Perhaps insurance companies wouldn’t have to keep increasing their rate if someone stepped back, and took a good hard look at the REAL problems that are plaguing the industry, eh?

Administration officials have said Monday’s proposal would be an effort to bridge the differences between the health bills passed by the House and the Senate last year. The idea for new federal authority on premiums wasn’t in either bill, and is likely to generate opposition from Republicans arguing that it would give too much power to the federal government.

We don’t need any more freakin’ federal authorities! Just the opposite! We NEED to get RID of a great many of those ‘authorities’ we already have screwing up our lives. If it ain’t in the Constitution, back the **** off!

The Democratic health bills already envision some role for the government to control premium costs, through new exchanges where individuals and small businesses could buy insurance. One version would prevent any insurer that raised rates beyond a level that the government deemed unfair from selling policies in the exchange.

Why don’t the Democrats come clean, and just change the name of their party to the Democratic Socialists?

A new seven-member Health Insurance Rate Authority, made up of industry experts, consumer representatives, a physician and others, would issue an annual report laying out what it viewed as reasonable rate increases. Those considered unjustified could be blocked by a federal board. Customers might even qualify for rebates.

More government employees, with a nice fat salary and all the benefits, at the taxpayers expense, picking and choosing, depending on which company donated the most to the commies? I don’t freakin’ think so!

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) said on “Fox News Sunday” that Republicans intended to take part in Thursday’s televised summit, and he reiterated his call for Mr. Obama to scrap the Democrats’ bill. “The American people do not want this bill to pass,” he said.

I’d venture to guess that anyone with an “R” behind their name who attends Obumbler’s fiasco will find themselves in a real tough re-election. Grow a pair ya weasels! Do what is RIGHT for the people, not for that joke of a president and his cronies!

Hmmm… can ya tell I’m a tad annoyed?

We must separate ourselves from those who would do the greatest harm to the nation, and her people!

In July of this year, the American people were mostly undecided about Obamacare: equal numbers opposed and supported the health care bills that the White House was shepherding through Congress. But then August happened and informed Americans turned out at townhalls across the country to express their strong disapproval of Obamacare. The larger American public noticed and pluralities of the American people began to oppose Obamacare. The White House concluded they had a “communications problem” so they scheduled a prime time speech in front of a rare Joint Session of Congress. But the President’s speech arrogantly dismissed the concerns of the American people and after a brief uptick in support (from the low 40s to the mid 40s), opposition to the President’s plan grew.

A Man Of Honor

A Self-Made Man

Much has been written in recent years, condemning the Founders as rich, privileged, white men. They were certainly white, but that’s not a reason to condemn them. Many, but not all, were quite wealthy. But does anyone ever stop and ask themselves how they became that way?

George Washington, the very first president of these United States, was born into gentleman’s life, this is true. But if you dig deeper, when his father died, leaving the larger portion of his wealth to George’s older half brothers, he, his mother, and his 5 siblings to subsist on much less than what they had become accustomed.

While Washington did receive an education, he did not have the privilege of attending college, or learning foreign languages as did a good number of his peers. So, how did he become so smart? Where did his wisdom come from, if he didn’t have a college degree? He learned. Not through professors, but through family, books, and his own inquisitiveness. He worked hard, became a national hero, and had the express honor of being unanimously voted in as the very first President of the United States of America.

This is a man who should be honored and studied, honestly, in our schools. We should all remember, if it were not for men like this, there would be no United States. We would not have the liberties and freedoms we have now.

So, the next time you whine about old white rich men, remember George Washington, who DID put his life on the line. Could you, would you do the same for your freedom from tyranny?  Open a book, read, learn, and think really hard about your answer.
