An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
A Man Of Honor
February 22, 1732 ~ December 14, 1799
A Self-Made Man
Much has been written in recent years, condemning the Founders as rich, privileged, white men. They were certainly white, but that’s not a reason to condemn them. Many, but not all, were quite wealthy. But does anyone ever stop and ask themselves how they became that way?
George Washington, the very first president of these United States, was born into gentleman’s life, this is true. But if you dig deeper, when his father died, leaving the larger portion of his wealth to George’s older half brothers, he, his mother, and his 5 siblings to subsist on much less than what they had become accustomed.
While Washington did receive an education, he did not have the privilege of attending college, or learning foreign languages as did a good number of his peers. So, how did he become so smart? Where did his wisdom come from, if he didn’t have a college degree? He learned. Not through professors, but through family, books, and his own inquisitiveness. He worked hard, became a national hero, and had the express honor of being unanimously voted in as the very first President of the United States of America.
This is a man who should be honored and studied, honestly, in our schools. We should all remember, if it were not for men like this, there would be no United States. We would not have the liberties and freedoms we have now.
So, the next time you whine about old white rich men, remember George Washington, who DID put his life on the line. Could you, would you do the same for your freedom from tyranny? Open a book, read, learn, and think really hard about your answer.

If the people that lie about himwould work as hard as he did when he was a surveyor it would literally kill them. The man was a worker.
Isn’t it amazing what you can accomplish with hard work?
Youre assuming that liberals do ANY thinking. They just follow like lemmings, right off the cliff.
Washington was a stud. We need more men like him today.
Yes indeedy, we do! It would be enough to make a lady swoon!
